  1. Right, so what I'm wondering is how long should the ideal kashyyyk trooper glove actually be on a wearers arm? And is a properly fitting WW kashyyyk glove long enough?
  2. Mordenkainen44 -- That's correct. In fact, you may not even need to glue it if it's seated in the slot properly. If you want to make it extra secure though , you could use E6000.
  3. The thing with the WW gloves though -- is the forearm portion long enough? Greeblie mod aside, it's cut like their biker scout glove, which appears to be shorter than the kashyyk trooper glove.
  4. Hi there, Many of the helmet makers have different dimensions, but generally, the bottom edge of the barcode on the left side should align horizontally straight across with the indents on the right. Vertically it should align just inside the edge of the left trapezoid. Based on what I can see in your image, it looks about right. CRL reference:
  5. Hiya, the holster should fit evenly centered on the right side of the boot. Using the CRL image as a guide, it appears to be about 1/2" down from the top edge of the vinyl. Regarding assembly, while the front portion looks fine, you need to cut a slot to fit the two holster parts together. You will also need to round off the edges of the holster. While this is from an older build thread, by Pandatrooper, it should show what I mean, below:
  6. I placed my order last night. He said it'd be about 3 weeks.
  7. Nice, thanks a lot. Appreciate the heads up!
  8. So he's still producing them then? I was actually wondering about soft goods myself. Did you contact him via facebook?
  9. Whiskey recently posted some 360 views of the Sierra Sneakers, which you can use as a reference, here: I cut a rectangular piece of ABS as a stencil for marking my cuts and traced around it in pencil. Once you get everything marked, you can give us a look for review.
  10. ABS is really flexible, so it'll also bend a bit once you secure the strapping, but yeah, you can adjust it some more once you get your flight suit on. Hot bath or a hair dryer should do the trick.
  11. The pouches can either be stiffened with posterboard, or they can just be filled with batting/bubble wrap, etc. Personal preference as long as the overall shape is correct. Personally, I tried to emulate the way they appeared in the film, which is filled, but not rigidly shaped like a box. I ended up filling mine with batting to achieve the screen appearance.
  12. Yeah, the red label uses a single fiberglass dome with an abs face plate and visor. That'll seriously cut down on construction time and effort, which is reflected in the cost. It's a smart compromise. Just curious how it turns out.
  13. Nice. Thanks. I'm interested to see what folks think of the red label helmet, once it's out there.
  14. Today I received my big brown box containing a new Kashyyyk Scout kit. I got mine from TK-1389 kits, who, from all appearances seems to have the BikerChick/PGHFett molds? So far I've got my armor, desert dpm fatigues, and boots. Gloves are coming from Wampa and I plan to retrofit the greeblie on them. That's pretty much where I am at the moment. I'll likely start on the soft good modifications on the fatigues for now and can move into building and (most importantly) painting once it starts to get warmer out.
  15. Question -- do the arms have ribbed padding on the IB flak vest? While the ribbed shoulder padding is quite clear, it's hard to see it on the sleeves.
  16. Is the bund and cod connected as a single piece, or are they two separate parts? The most common issue is that the cod is positioned too low and then folks pull it between the legs with the strap. This causes the dreaded toe effect. Show us some photos and we'll take a look.
  17. Hey there -- while the neck seal is used in a few ROTJ scout scenes, it's not currently a part of the Scout Trooper CRL. As such, it's not an approvable accessory as a part of a 501st scout trooper costume submission.
  18. It's extremely difficult to confirm, short of one of us actually inspecting one of the suits. The best we've had to go off of is Gino's Scout, who based his build on the original suit. I've looked through what I've got and this is the best rear side image I can find.
  19. Can you expand on what you mean? The clips are riveted onto the det tubing, which is zip tied into the det box. Once assembled, this allows you to slide the whole det onto the back of your belt webbing.
  20. Before you glue the end caps on, you will need to rivet the clips onto the det tubing. Here's an example of how mine are riveted on: You can also see in Strider's Lancer build thread how he rivets in the clips as well. Even though he's wrapping his own cabling on the det tubing, the process should be the same. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17305-lancer-build-tutorial/&page=3
  21. That's great. Thank you again, Whiskey, for your willingness to take the leap of faith on the IB coveralls. I'm really glad to see that they turned out well. From the references I've seen, including the ones you posted, there is some suede on the back -- just not a whole lot. It definitely doesn't have a large patch, like we have on the front of the coveralls. I took the scout capture photo, blasted the contrast, and highlighted the patches to better show where they are in the original photo.
