  1. Bah. That makes me sick to see people ripping off other's hard work. But that's not a discussion for here. I'm sorry that's happened to you, Mike.
  2. Using that argument, Phil, then which toy do we reference? We've seen them referenced first as BARC TROOPERS, then most recently as KASHYYYK TROOPER. I'm more inclined to stick with 41st Elite, personally. But they aren't using the Phase II armor. So maybe we need to come up with a combination? 41st Elite/Light Infantry? 4ELI? (Yes, I'm being silly, I'm just throwing that acronym out there.) It's tough to even call them Kashyyyk Troopers. I mean, we see the AT-RT troopers there as well. But we designate those troopers as AT-RT troopers, because of the toys and because of the vehicles they command. These troopers are just plain ol' Clonetroopers. 41st Elite. With light armor similar to the Scout Trooper. Egads.
  3. Just saw this nugget o' info on the Star Wars Databank under the entry for BARC speeder:
  4. I'll chime in with my two imperial credits. This particular clone originally received the name BARC TROOPER from Hasbro's Episode 3 line of toys. Regardless the "canonical" reference, these toys still have to go through LFL's clutches to meet certain criteria, NAMES being one of those criteria. Which means, likely, LFL supplied the name BARC TROOPER to that figure. I'm sure that this concept was changed throughout the production process as they usually do. So the name BARC TROOPER didn't necessarily now fit the clone seen on a BARC Speeder by the time the movie was in the can. If we are going to get technical, the BIKER SCOUT was never mentioned as being a BIKER SCOUT on screen. They were only called that because of the toy. Now, with the need to name every little nuance and dongle in the SW universe (what are we now, Trekkies?) we have to come up with an appropriate NICKNAME for these troopers. Technically, they are the 41st Elite as provided by various source materials, including StarWars.com. That's about as canonical as you can get. The 41st Elite wear two different sets of armor in the movie, both pre- and during-Kashhyyk (or however you spell that damn planet). The armor they wear doesn't change who they are. Unfortunately, we can't just call them the 41st Elite, because they then will fall back under the Clonetrooper Detachment. And the purpose the Pathfinders and Clonetroopers mutually agreed to develop the costume here is because it is very similar to the BIKER SCOUT. Okay, that didn't clear anything up at all did it? I say, until some further information pops up, we still call them BARC TROOPERS in reference to the toy. Yes, it may be inaccurate, but it's the closest bit of reference we have as we have the BIKER SCOUTS from ROTJ. After all, Biker Scouts are just Stormtroopers with light infantry/recon armor as alluded to by madphisto and the SW.com database. In the same sense, the clones riding with Neyo on Saleucami could just be called Saleucami Troopers. But, that's just all my opinion.
  5. Now that the new LMO has been approved, hopefully the CRL will become a reality! Not to dog Thomas, he's a great guy. But new blood seems to reinvigorate long-standing things...
  6. Shouldn't it fit like a helmet?
  7. With the wrap-up of Legion, Garrison, Outpost, and Squad Elections this evening, all winners have been announced. Congratulations to Army Scout for being re-elected to the Pathfinder Detachment Leader position! Good campaign run to both Chris and David!
  8. JASON! I FORBID YOU TO STOP BUILDING NEW COSTUMES AND LET OTHERS HAVE A CHANCE! j/k!
  9. I didn't realize JC Whitney gloves didn't qualify, as long as properly modified (removal of zipper, suede pads added)...
  10. You know I want in!
  11. Crap. I'm in awe, as usual. I can't wait to see this sucker completed. And I would definitely want to be put on a list for a kit...
  12. Shock and awe, man. Simply BEAUTIFUL.
  13. There ya go!
  14. Since the BARC armor is so similar to the Scout armor, it seems easy enough to just modify that to begin with, eh?
  15. Congrats, Simon!
  16. Hope you start feeling better soon, Jason...
  17. It's good that you said that, Krayvan, because often times that what it'll take. Lots of blood, lots of sweat, and lots of tears. Did I mention blood? Just be careful with that dremel and the cutting wheel... Welcome aboard. You've found the home of probably some of THE most devoted costumers in the Star Wars saga.
  18. I IM'ed with Army Scout shortly after he took over as Detachment Leader about my views regarding the Detachment and the new Detachment Leadership. I thought I'd share some of my thoughts here, too. I'm glad to see Chris back at the head of the Pathfinders. Normally, I'm not too keen on seeing folks who "started" a group (fan group, detachment, chapter, etc) remain in a leadership position - I've been in too many situations where the whole thing has become WAY too personal and more often than not, an attempt at holding on to power and using it for personal achievements. HOWEVER... I don't feel that way with Chris at the helm. I don't know if it's the time he took off from the Legion. Or if it's just the time he stayed in the background. But whatever it was, Chris came back into the Pathfinders with a vengeance simply unrivaled by ANY leader in ANY group I've ever been part of. In a way, it almost makes me feel a bit inadequate (I mean, c'mon! Look at the fury this guy works at!) but I'm secure enough in my self that I'm not thinking about that. What I AM thinking about is how great it is to see Chris really get things moving. Not only is he moving things along that I started (and wished I had had the time to complete) but he is moving the Pathfinders forward, as we should be. The "Pathfinders" have ALWAYS been the tip of the lance in any historical context. So it is with the 501st. I'm proud to say that I had a good time leading the detachment after Vixx took some time off. I'm even more honored to serve under the Pathfinder banner with the OG Pathfinder. Picking Jay as the ADL - perfect choice. Although Jay and I have never met in person, I know this dude, just from how he carries himself on BSN, CTN, and the Legion forums. Top-notch, balls to the wall, someone I'd be willing to "go to the mattresses" for. And to see Vixx back on board as the Armorer. I'm so excited to see Rie back in the fold where she belongs. This place just hasn't been the same without you Marie! It has been an honor to serve you guys as DL last year. Had I realized how much work was involved, I might have said no to Vixx! ;P But I'm glad I had the chance to help the Pathfinders leap forward again, help get some new merch projects running, helped getting the standards through to the Council, and making BSN a nice home away from home for all of us. I'm excited to be back at moderating the forums with EBTrooper and look forward to the next time I get to troop with some of you guys that I haven't yet met!
  19. Damn, that's some fine work you're doing, Mike!
  20. Well, I think it's gonna have to come down what's the easiest way to accomplish the closest look. Replicating it 100% would be kinda tough. But this is good discussion!
  21. Can't wait to see the finished product, AS!
  22. That sounds great, guys!
  23. Nice work, AS! My only critique is the following, as seen in the picture: From the light and shadows, it looks like the larger portion of the tube is both on top and bottom of the cylinder, instead of just on top as you have in your design.
