Thanks Spike! Small world. I was a big 40k player back in the day. My favs were Eldar and of course the Marines. I wonder how much Games Workshop made off of my paychecks:) Love to see pics of your Marine costumes Spike.

No it won't hold up a basic approval the CRL states nothing specific about the t-bits only that the armor will have them: Upper Arm Armor For 501st approval: Gloss white, semi-gloss or lightly weathered. Armor has a recessed area with a "t-bit" detail attached within. Black elastic is used to secure the armor around upper arm. It is only specified in the Lancer standards that the two "dots" face forward: For level two certification (if applicable): Film-accurate "T-bit" detail is mounted to armor. T-bit circle detail piece faces forward on each arm. Armor is secured around the arm with a 35mm ( 1 & 3/8") black elastic strap. Spike I certainly didn't intend to question your work because I think it's excellent. I was just going by what the CRL states but you make an excellent point and it's got me searching my archives for LFL scout pictures. What I wouldn't give for an hour with Ira Keeler. I got about a thousand questions I would like to ask him

Typical Helmet Questions... don't shoot me, I'm new
Retrofire replied to Bugz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I had a KS helmet and it was tight and I have a 23" melon like Chunk so I went with a Spike lid which has plenty of room but as the XO said it's not a kit. SC is a popular "you build it" lid and you can always try MC but not sure on the lead time there you'll have to reach out to them and check. -
The "tbits" on the bicepts are not correct. Good catch! You can either get some after market bits or you could take a razor saw trim off the bottom, turn it around a reglue it. Shoot Spike a PM and let him know too as I bet he'll want to get that corrected. It looks like an easy fix.

Typical Helmet Questions... don't shoot me, I'm new
Retrofire replied to Bugz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
The XO was pretty much on in his post. If you want an assembled lid ready out of the box your looking at between $300 up to scary$$$ for a movie repro. You can save a bit by building it yourself and those start around $200 or so. There is a great helmet comparison thread in the armory. Head on over and take a look and that will help you get an idea of the lids available to you. -
I love my Altmann bucket! Look forward to seeing that armor come together.

JediParamedic also has a good thread for the shadow scout he built for his son that can be found in the under 18 section. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I forgot to mention that If you need some 1.5inch shoot me a PM and Ill send some extra I have off to you. Cheers!
-
I would just go ahead and use the 2 inch mate. That's what is in the 501st CRL and that's what your GML is going to go from. The Command staff supposedly has plans to get the 501st CRL updated but there has been no movement on that yet. You'll pass basic with the 2 inch and you can easily change it out with the 1.5 inch when/if you go for Lancer. Hope that helps and look forward to seeing some pre approval pics.

I have a opportunity to buy a LW or stay with my Altmanns
Retrofire replied to Torm's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Do it. I love my Altmanns too but I wouldn't pass it up. If it comes to pass that you have to part with it you will not have any worries selling it. For me I'd take that lid over an RS anyday:) -
Looking good! I thing I see is you'll need to switch arms on your bicept armor. The "rivets" always face forward and your right they have to come forward a bit but that's a fitment issue and not a big deal until you submit. Make sure you are leaving enough space on your chest and back armour to fit your vest and bund. If you get the played too tight then it's going to be even tighter once you are wearing those pieces. Not sure if the OMP logo at the arms might be an issue. It looks like the vest will cover it but you don't want the vest sleeves too long as it will bunch under your shoulder bell and look poufy. It would cooler if the company name was IMP instead of OMP:) I hope this helps. Its looking good! Keep up the great work and posts!

Attention - New Lancer Added to the Ranks
Retrofire replied to BikerScout007's topic in Announcements
Congratulations to the Pathfinder who helped me start this journey! Congrats again Wayne and I hope to follow in your footsteps one day. -
Maybe Chef or Marcel might know. They are both Pathfinders and members of the UKG. I bet they could point you in the right direction. Send them a PM and see what they say.

Hi! Great starting question! There are several makes and models to choose from and they all have slightly different fits. The best place to start your helmet hunt is over in the Armory. There is a sub-forum there dedicated to helmets. You'll need a minimum of five posts to access the trade forum so head out into the forest and start looking around and let us know how we can help.

That looks like a UKSwrath setup to me. He's got a run going on in the trade forum. Don't have one myself but hear good things about them.

Congratulations! -
Hey Stormie have you checked out the trade forum? There are a few boot makers on there. There is chrisx909x, marcel, and a few other I believe. I had Chris make the parts for my boots and finished assembly myself but he can do the whole nine yards for you if you want. The makers there are scouts and your boots will be top notch. Take a look and let us know if you have any questions.

The Aren't You A Little Sort For A...Biker Scout (WIP)

Nice work! I've been puzzling that out for my blaster. Hope you don't mind if I use your idea. -
General Armor assembly Questions
Retrofire replied to Josafoot's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Well said! I sent Jeff a note of thanks for all the good things he's doing especially with the new knees. That goes for all our vendors. This "hobby" would be hard without them. -
They do:) Nothing like a worn in bund!
-
I asked the armourers and they recommended a medium grey color for the TD. I would use some fine sandpaper to scuff it up and the wash it with soap and water before you paint it to get any residue off.
-
Disregard that earlier post I misunderstood what you were asking:) I'd be happy to help you but I'm in Arizona. Maybe shoot Griffin-X or Forest Ranger a PM they're both in the FW area I think and they could point you to a Scout that may help you. Post up on the Star Garrison forum too. If you can't find a body then PM me and I'll help you build them.

Drop by the trade forum and give Chrisx909x a shout. He helped me with my boot build. He does top notch work and I love my boots. Hope that helps!

Pandatrooper's SC Biker Scout build
Retrofire replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Well you could always give it a shot but it would probably be better if it was pulled that way. Doing a return is much different than doing that recess. To make it clean you would have to create a die of the shape then heat the ABS till it's soft enough to mold into the die and the hold it till it cools. I can't tell you how much hot plastic burns:). It's something I did think about but it was a bit past my level so I just trimmed and relocated the strap locations and did the returns as Panda did.
