Wire wrapped thermal detonator
Retrofire replied to cheesewhoopy's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
That's looking really great! I'm using the RJ11 that Tim suggested and wrapping it around my SC hose. Make sure if you do this to get at least 25ft (8m) of the stuff. It takes more than you think.😀 -
Alternative sources for Snout Greeble?
Retrofire replied to kayelbe's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Maybe check Don Jarr? I know he does the t-bit and TD greeblies. Another thought would be to PM Spike and see if he can spare one. I know he redid the mold so it's right on point. -
I think it's a great first run at it! The only things I see that you might want to address on your next set is the seam at the top might need to be a little cleaner. It has a pretty good ripple there at the top of your boot. You might need to bring that top seam over a bit more to give the sewing machine a little more bite.

PhinScout WIP...questions need answered!!
Retrofire replied to PhinScout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I agree. I sewed velcro on the ends of the belt straps and connected it to either side of the belt boxes to act as a strain relief on the rivet. I didn't realize how much stress you can put on it when trooping and of course sitting (sorry TK's:). -
Uncertain - Helmet or Armor First?
Retrofire replied to PeaceForEndor's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
That is a really cool tutorial. I've always wanted to try one of these mods but couldn't find the helmet to do it on. -
Wampa does indeed have great gloves. Just remember to order them a size larger than you need they tend to run on the small side.

No, it doesn't sound corny at all! Beck it's why we do this in the first place. I've been buggin Tim about cable to wrap around my TD for my Lancer submission so we all want to achieve that next level. All I know is that I want to be on that list too if you start offering these.😀

Wow! That is one gorgeous kit sir! If folks like you and Spike keep doing work like this you guys are going to have to make Lancer even harder to get😀 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You're doing great trooper and you're an inspiration. Just need to tidy up a few items and you'll be good to go. Now we need to come up with a way to turn your chair into a speederbike😀 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Welcome Jim! Questions are always welcome and that's what we're here for. Better to ask a question than make an expensive mistake. Best to you on your build and look forward to seeing your progress!

It is Spike you need...PM him you must😀

Check out PandaTroopers thread. He has a great method to make the loops using the cotton with elastic that will keep that bridge nice and tight. I used it and my bridge straps don't move at all.
-
Yeah his email gets really backed up. Its best if you can PM via the FB page if you can. He's always been very responsive there. Also check the trade forum and see if Darthvoorhees has any available. He does great work and he actually built a rare earth magnet into the front of the blaster. All you need to do is install the other half into your holster and that bugger isn't going anywhere.

I went with the Texas steer boots from Kmart and I have to say that I was doubtful but they've been great on my feet. They're about $19. The only thing I had to do was pull out the top two rows of loops at the ankle to keep them loose to put on.

Congrats Pathfinder!!! Welcome to the Scouts! Get your 501st profile loaded in your profile and request access. Great job!

Yes. Both of my straps on my chest and back armor are Velcro hook so I release one and put my arms through and over my head and pull it down then refasten the strap. Sometimes I'll go ahead and release both and drop it over my head and clamshell it if it's catching on my vest.

Boots are looking great. Nice stretch on the toes! Don't forget the stitching on the dogbones.

Ha! I read that with an Aussie accent It looks great and it'll be an easy approval. Nice work trooper! You also reminded me that I have to scrape the white paint off of my knees too! Submit that armor and get back to base!
-
It's looking great and it's mostly just the fitment. It's an easy pass!
-
That they do and I'm sure you'll be really pleased with it.

Looking good Greedo-man! Here's what I see my friend. 1.) Bund is riding kinda low it shouldn't be below your belt and it looks like it's slipping down from your chest armor. Can you pull that up higher? Look at the sixth photo and you can see it falling under the chest/back armor. Bikerscout007 caught me on that mistake on my pre-approval and I know he'll give me grief if I miss it again. He has a thing for the cummerbund . 2.) Your bicepts and forearms are almost on the bottom of your arms. You'll need to rotate the biceps around and make them almost square with the shoulders. The forearms should just be over the tops of your gauntlets by about 1/2" - 1". 3.) The flight suit on the left knee is looking bunched below the armor. Might want to pull that tight after you put your knees on then put your boots on. 4.) The right vest sleeve needs to be pulled down a bit. It looks like it's riding up under the shoulder bell. It's looking great and most of it is just fitment and you'll learn all that once you start wearing it more. Just a matter of tightening it up a bit. You'll be a shoe-in for approval and I'm sure your GML will appreciate you making it an easy one. Excellent work!

Here's my Altmanns on me: The XO is right in that the SC is a smaller bucket and what's important is how it fits on you. Maybe a good idea would be to post up in your garrison boards to the local scouts and see if you can try a bucket on. That way you're sure to know. Looks like you got a host of 'Bama scouts in your garrison and I'm sure they'll be happy to chime in. Again what's most important is how it fits and looks on you when suited up.

I'm just about three inches taller and I love my Altmanns! There is a great thread over in the armory discussing all the Scout lids available. Give it a look see it's a great reference.

Best service anywhere. He hooked me up with a new set of knees for my shadow scout. Now we just gotta convince him to make a one piece belt😄.
