  1. Don’t be so hard on yourself Mark those mistakes you’re talking about, yeah we’ve all made our fair share so you’re in good company. Make sure you’re using the 2” elastic and take a good look at the positioning here: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_scout_trooper-suitdetail You want them to be snug but not “cut off your circulation snug”. It’s a good idea to put on your flight suit and measure around your thigh using the elastic to get a good base measurement. If you need any help at all with this give us a shout out. You’re doing great man just a few items left! Consider posting up your pre-approval pics and let us give ya the once over before you submit.
  2. Well said Justin! We’re here to help you be successful no matter what language you speak! ¡Bien dicho Justin! ¡Estamos aquí para ayudarte a tener éxito sin importar el idioma que hables! - via google translate
  3. Wow Melody that’s a cool rig...literally and figuratively. Those have gotta be toasty buckets to wear! Nice work!
  4. Make sure you give the lvl2 CRL a good look over and use that as your checklist Pathfinder. If you have any questions reach out to me, @Chopper, @BikerScout007, or @Dart and we’ll be glad to help you. Good luck!
  5. Hi Will and thank you very much for your application. The team will review and get back to you as soon as we are able. Stand by Pathfinder!
  6. Mark are you sewing the Velcro from the “backside”? If you’re trying to sew it through the hook when the needle rises to set the bobbin side of the stitch it could get caught up in the hook and begin to bunch up and depending how fast your pushing the presser foot. If it gets caught it will begin to “backup” inside the bobbin carriage and seize the needle. Then you gotta cut it off and reset everything. The Singers we’re using have that downside and I’ve come across it so much lately. Try to sew it with the hook facing up so the needle force plunges through the loop and can set the rest of the stitch from the smooth bottom and pull it back through the loop. I haven’t had much difficulty sewing Velcro with the hook and loop facing the needle.
  7. While the CPS is acceptable for the basic TIE Pilot the DCAs, in the Jolly Roger (TIE) detachment, almost always recommend that you select the custom sizing option and provide your measurements. Otherwise your suit may not fit well enough. Some vendors that the JRS uses for their flight suits are Wampa Wear, MonCal, Pilot Bay, and several others. Make sure you check the CRL for the flight suit thoroughly in the first post and keep in mind that it’s not an approved CRL until there it’s completed and there is a costume. So until its finished and gets ok’d by the Legion your GML will not be able to approve you in it yet. JRS Detachment link: https://www.jrs501st.com/
  8. Welcome to the Pathfinders brewmaster! You’ve got a whole host of folks that are glad you’re here and are ready to help you with your build. If you haven’t yet had the chance I would encourage you to reach out to your local 501st Garrison which for you is the Golden Gate Garrison and sign up for their forums here: http://www.501stggg.com/ That will help provide local resources to you and they will be the Garrison you will be submitting for membership with. That’s great to see that you’re handy with needle and thread as the majority of this costume is made up of soft goods. Armor only makes up a small part and should do just fine with the space you have. A good place to start is in the following forums: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/3-the-rotj-biker-scout-armory/ And http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/96-biker-scout-wip/ You will find all sorts of information in these areas on the various parts of the Scout armor. The WIP threads are where you learn about how to build by folks who have gone before you. Feel free to wonder around the barracks and ask all the questions you want and someone will be along to help. To answer your first question yes there are indeed sources where you can have a suit commissioned and built for you but due to the costs involved most Scouts build their own sets.
  9. Hi Art. Quick question. Are you using primer and paint that are the same make/manufacture? I’ve seen this before on other builds where two different types were used and saw the same adhesion issues. The primed helmet looks great but it looks as if the paint is reacting to the surface primer in that last pic.
  10. Right??! It’s like 4K or nothing at least until the next big thing comes out. So based on what I could see there look to be six exposed ribs to the seal in the one photo and I can’t make out the number in the second. It looks close to the TK seal and the SW Rebels seal here: I would think that for basic we can simply define neck seal as written in the draft and use either. I don’t think we need to get down to specifics until lvl2 is defined.
  11. It looks as if the draft CRL wording for the neck seal is the same as the wording for the TK ANH Stunt. Does anyone have a good freeze frame of one of the Scouts neck we can compare it too? We want to be as dead on as we can to the screen version. A pic of the TK neck seal is below:
  12. Excellent work Ardeshir! Congrats Lancer!
  13. This is amazing! Can we do this for all our costumes? This would be awesome for the Shoretrooper as there are so many little details to that armor! Thank you for taking the time to do this Mickey!
  14. Looking great Ryi! Looks like you’re still fighting those cod-crunchies a bit though. A possible solution here would be to pull the top of your cod up and loosen the cod strap a smidge. You don’t want the cod going underneath your legs but sitting flat against your front. Take a look at this pic from the CRL model: See how the cod is just bearly rolling under the leg? Chopper also had a good recommendation to add some stiffener at that location as well which helps keep the bottom rigid. Other than that minor nit it looks like you’re ready to submit to the GMLs. You’ve done some really excellent work, especially fighting that tank paint, and should be proud!
  15. Greetings Ardeshir! Thanks for making those changes in such a rapid time and getting those pictures posted. We’ve reviewed the changes and all of them have passed save for one item that will need to be readdressed. Your cod is still folded at the bottom where the cod strap is connected. This could be that the cod strap is too tight but what we recommend is that you pull the top of the cod higher under your belt so the bottom part of the curve sits at the right height. I’ve included a couple of pics to help. You’ve done a fantastic job so far and you just need that little extra to get you over the line. If you have any questions or need any assistance please reach out to Chopper or I at any time. Note the cod folded over at the bottom. Here’s the picture from the CRL
  16. The town of Marana is close to Pinal so you can always grab a couple of gallons there before you go in for the day if they don’t have an adequate source. Drinking out of a hose in 100+ heat does not sound good at all🤢
  17. Sounds like you’re going to Pinal in Marana. We’re exceeding the 100’s regularly so be sure to bring a good skull/neck cover, sunscreen, and drink water like it’s going out of style. Think of the extremes of Hoth in reverse. If you feel up to it reach out to us in the Dune Sea Garrison or our Mos Eisley Base friends. Stay safe and have a good tour and let us know if you need anything.
  18. Hi Ardeshir! Here’s our feedback. I’ve added a few photos to help clarify but please feel free to reach out anytime for any clarification or help! Overall this is an excellent submission and there are only a few items that we would like to see you address. We did want to express that you did an OUTSTANDING job with the visor cut on that SC helmet. Really great work there. You should be proud of what you accomplished. Cod piece will need to be addressed to correct the folding that’s occurring there. It could be that your cod strap is too tight and pulling the cod under your legs. If you’re still having an issue, and you already haven’t, you may need to add some interfacing/stiffener to that area. The bund is sagging a bit in the back. A suggestion here is to add some Velcro to your vest to keep the bund in place. There is some gapping between the chest armor and bund that should be reviewed and tightened. Shoulders seem to be a little too close to the shoulder bridges on your chest/back armor. It could be due to the camera angle but we’d like an additional photo of this area with your arms at your sides to confirm. Biceps should be rotated more and moved up towards the vest sleeves. Forearms should move down further towards the wrist. Thigh boxes should be adjusted closer to the belt at the rear sections to get it closer to the 1.5” standard we’re looking for. Overall the boots are well done. We would like you to address the short horizontal seam about two inches up from the sole on the back of the boot that go through the “closure” strips. A suggestion here could be to either paint or possibly resew that seam with invisible thread. DLT19/MG34: Level 2 in the CRL calls for "Small disk on left side." In your current picture set we cannot see it and we’ll need to verify that detail.
  19. Hi Frederick! They have to be decals. Decals are screen accurate You can get aftermarket versions of them from several sources. Might want to see if KS can send you an extra set. Trooperbay also sells an accurate decal set here: https://trooperbay.com/star-wars-bikerscout-helmet-decals This will give you another option but I’d try KS first.
  20. Make sure you update your 501st profile and post up here for full access now that your approved: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/162-access-requests/
  21. Yeah me too. I got DSG ART ones I can let go of.
  22. Congratulations Pathfinder!
  23. Sounds like you’re right on point Mark! When you work the vest be sure to wear your flight suit for your measurements and not a regular shirt so it fits comfortably. My first vest was a bit too tight and made for some interesting troops!😄 You’re doing an awesome job! Keep up the outstanding work!
  24. Good on you mate! Nice work and way to tackle a new skill! That was wise to bring the legs in and tailor it more to you. Another idea to help keep the suit legs tight is to sew some elastic in the bottoms for stirrups. Regarding the cod it looks good just make sure you keep enough slack in the strapping so it doesn’t pull underneath your legs and bunch up. We call that “cod crunchies” some scouts use a heavy weight interfacing to keep the bottom of the cod from folding over but as long as you adjust to your fit you should be ok. Keep up the great work and keep posting those photos it’s great to see this coming along! I think it’s great you’re going for Lancer! A lot of the Armorers are Lancers and I know they’re more than qualified to help you along but feel free to reach out to myself, Chopper, or Stroker too if you have specific Lancer questions.
  25. Yeah that’s great if ya got one already. They are heavy duty and have a thicker shank to penetrate heavier material better. MJ is the queen of sewing around here and if you have any questions give her or any of us a shout and we’ll be there to help.
