Yeah someone has used that method..... the filmmakers! That's exactly what was used with the original costumes, not suede. It's called the "flesh side" because it's the side of the skin that faced the meat. Suede is created by processing the flesh side of the leather.

Great kit! Looking forward to your build.

Accuracy question
BikerScout007 replied to theenglishdjentleman's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
KriptonTop aka Cucblack aka CB used to be a vendor on here, but was banned for having too many failed transactions that were never properly resolved. From what I understand, he has fixed his shipping issues for sales on his Etsy site, but I don't know from personal experience. At a glance, I'd say Katrin and Michaela's goods look more accurate, but I don't know them as vendors on this page. You have Chef in your Garrison who makes soft goods, and we have other vendors in the thread below: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/156-vendor-sales/ Keep in mind that we just made a change to the Level 2 CRL requiring pouches to be made from canvas-type material and cummerbunds & codpieces to be made from more lightweight cotton. Not all of the Vendors may be aware of this change so you should specify exactly what you want. -

Patrol Trooper CRL revision (and Level 2)!
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Patrol Trooper HQ
Could be. Could be a shadow. Could be a smooth part of the sleeve, since there are some. But more telling is that there are no sign of straps on the main promo photo of the Patrol Trooper. If I had to pick one to be the best representation of the costume and the one we'd base Level 2 requirements on, it would be that pic. -
Reflection. We're removing the metal stripe from the CRL.

Anovos Shoretrooper Helmet Visor Tinting
BikerScout007 replied to BigCat13's topic in Getting Started
I would try putting some tinting on the lens and see how you like it. I've done that with other helmets before and it's worked well.- 3 replies

Additional chest piece trimming needed?
BikerScout007 replied to Dchi1890's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Yes you can trim it much closer to the "V". Check out some examples of armor here: -
On behalf of Pathfinders Command, it is my pleasure to welcome Loïc "jadloc" Jadot (TB-83107) to the illustrious ranks of the Lancer scouts! Great job, @jadloc!! Make sure you send a picture of your coolest pose to @Shortstack for addition to the Pathfinders Hall of Fame. Check out his application here:

I think a few folks managed to get some photos from there, but mine seem to be the ones I see passed around the most. Here they all are: https://www.facebook.com/mlbukowski/media_set?set=a.10209779093806853&type=3 And yes they were in covered boxes, but the helmet is still getting a good amount of light on it as you can see here: So yeah, could be red, could be orange, or could be the way either of those two colors looks when blending with the Sahara Beige underneath. I think if you asked most people they would say it was red, so we just go with what is reasonable. As I said above, happy to be more definitive given the right amount of evidence, but in lieu of that, I could not get anymore specific than wording such as "matches the hue of the emblems as seen on screen" or something to that effect.
-
Hey Paul. I totally appreciate all the work and research you've done on the ST. We all love the Shoretrooper, but I don't know if I can say anyone loves it more than you. As far as the red... I mean, we all thought it was red, including you. So it's pretty reasonable that we put red in the CRL. It looks red. People thought it was red. I've looked over my LA Auto Show photos today and... it still looks red. So if it was actually a shade of orange that in most lighting and weathering situations looks red, then red will do. Our CRL for Level 1 is not meant to be the definitive document of the Shoretrooper as it was made by Glyn Dillon's team. Just the most reasonable facsimile we can make of it to promote our mission of putting smiles on children's faces. We're actually only allowed by the Legion to put super-specific details in our Level 2 CRL, so that we don't bar people from trooping by unreasonable standards. These are the constraints we are working under. I'm sure you've seen the various shades of blue that end up getting approved. So whether it is reddish-orange or orangish-red, matters very little in the end. Does it reasonably look like the ST as seen on screen? Yeah. But if you can get us the actual paint and color used, I am more than happy to add that to the Level 2 details and I will go out and buy it myself to repaint my helmet emblem. Again, I thank you for all your work on this. And I hope you change your mind and join the Legion some day.

Best scope to convert a DLT-19 to a DLT-19x
BikerScout007 replied to althalus's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
I know @MrPoopie was 3D printing them at one point. Let's see if he chimes in. Moved to the proper forum! -
Indeed! And since most of the parts seem transferable, I expect a lot of current Scouts will be able to add this to their 501st Costume roster.

Good news everyone! Since this new "Scout" is so similar to the ROTJ Scout, we've got most of the CRL written! Feel free to post your suggestions below. Required Costume Components The following costume components are present and appear as described below. Helmet Gloss white or semi-gloss and may be lightly weathered. Lens is black in color and obscures wearer's eyes Decals are screen accurate Snout greeblie is medium gray and the aerator portion is painted black Inner edge of snout recess is black Bolts are either flat or have concave centers Bolts may be gray or white Helmet is true to the shape of original screen accurate helmet. Balaclava A balaclava is a black head sock/hood that is worn under the helmet and is used primarily to hide any view of the wearer's skin and/or facial hair. Neck Seal Black with horizontal ribs, fitted to the wearer, and extending up from the base of the neck to conceal the entire neck. Flight Suit The undersuit is a one or two-piece black textile suit, such as military flightsuits, motorcycle racing suits, industrial work clothing (Red Kap/Dickies), or similar suits modified appropriately. A Mandarin style collar closure flap covers the neck area A suede or faux suede butt flap attaches above the waist hidden by the cummerbund, rectangular in shape. The flap is slightly narrower than the width of the trooper and stops just above the troopers backside. Suede or faux suede thigh patches extend over the flight suit crotch and down the front finishing above the knee. Two black elastic thigh straps, sewn in under the front and back of the thigh patch, circle the outside of the trooper’s leg. The suit is free of any visible labels, logos or zippers (including built in flight suit pockets). Shoulder Armor Gloss white or semi-gloss and may be lightly weathered. Knuckle plate and secondary port plate give the illusion of metal or are gun-metal colored. Vest Made out of black, matte finish, heavy weight cotton fabric. Raglan sleeves are padded and contain ribbing similar to the front of the cummerbund. The sleeves end just below the bottom edge of the shoulder armor. Vest has a much wider neck opening than the flight suit. Secured at the back using 50mm (2") black hook and loop fastener. Closure is right-over-left. Chest Armor Gloss white or semi-gloss and may be lightly weathered. There is a recessed rectangular area present over the right breast that is painted a medium to dark gray. The chest and back armor join together over the shoulder and the gap covered with a strip of white fabric (the "shoulder bridge"). The sides of the chest armor attach to the back armor with white webbing. Back Armor Gloss white or semi-gloss and may be lightly weathered. The back armor has a center tank attached. The top of the tank is flat with a detail piece painted black. Top detail piece uses the same greeblies as seen on the screen-used armor. Top detail piece has a white painted circle and red line detail. "Dial" has thick red stripe going across it, perpendicular to the edge The tank has a black stripe detail. "Rank bars" present on the right side of the tank can number between 0 to 6 stripes. Cummerbund and Codpiece Cummerbund Made from white fabric and may be lightly weathered. Drop boxes connect to the belt via white textile straps. If using off-white cummerbund pouches and side straps, the drop box straps are also off-white. Thermal detonator box with short corrugated hose attaches to the back of the belt. The correct thermal detonator greeblies are attached to the box. Not a problem, bud! But I'm getting the impression folks believe these changes will be allowable add-ons to the standard Scout. They won't. If you want a pauldron and to carry a glow-stick, you need to be fully armored in the J:FO Scout. We don't even know if this character is called a "Scout" yet or not. It may be something similar to Inferno Squad. I'm going to get a draft CRL up ASAP. I like to start the drafting process early so we can fill in the holes as soon as we get more info. This game is due out in November so it may be a while until we get the complete picture.

Biker Scout CRL Revision: Cummerbund, Pouches, Codpiece
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Yup! There was only a modest change to the L1 language and that was to combine the first two bullet points: Cummerbund, Codpiece and Pouches White and may be lightly weathered. Made from matte white cotton fabric and may be lightly weathered. Closes in back with 50mm (2") hook and loop fastener. Closure is right-over-left. Extends from just under the chest armor down to the belt. Front of cummerbund has 6 vertical stitch lines, centered between the two fabric pouches, producing 5 raised ribs of equal width. Tapered codpiece has a sewn inverted curve detail. Connects between the legs to either the back of the cummerbund or the flak vest by a black elastic strap. Pouches are white or off-white. -
That looks really good!

@Hask - can I get the Biker Scout CRL unlocked so I can make these changes? Thanks!
