  1. The one piece look was what I disliked about them the most The film boots are Sierra Sneakers with leather covers. You can see the covers pulling up in plenty of shots. And the toes look all smashed down because the Sierra Sneaker does not have a firm rounded toe. And no one has been able to pull this look off without using the original boots. It would be great if IB or CP just provided a donor boot with the accurate sole that we could use to wrap with vinyl or leather to get us closer to the film look.
  2. The new IB boots are so new that it's hard to make a judgment on them. The pictures look very good but without seeing a pair in hand it's hard to render judgment. They are very promising, I will say that much. I've got a pair of Crowprops and they are pretty good, but need work in some areas to make them look better. Here are two reviews of Crowprops And there are plenty of folks who make great boots in the traditional manner you can reach out to.
  3. Compared to Sheev's Emporium (around $300), IB is pretty reasonable and their newest version also meets the Level 2 requirements. But everyone has different needs! I've seen a few folks do it themselves or find close-enough alternatives.
  4. There's also the vendor list! I have the Imperial Boots top and Darkside closet trousers.
  5. I just removed the hard hat liner and replaced with helmet pads. I'm 23 3/8ths so I feel your pain!
  6. It looks like it's sitting on your chest properly. The "chest piece" really only covers the pectorals. The shoulder straps should touch and then be covered with a thin piece of elastic. Where you make up the difference is in the side webbing straps. Those can be as long as they need to be.
  7. No worries, I'm just glad to see people taking on the challenge. Until we nail down the exact wire used, we're not going to make an issue out of it on the CRL.
  8. He is wearing one, you just can't see it because of the mandarin collar on the flight suit. This is from the show:
  9. The color is definitely right. Anybody as old as me remembers everything in the early 80s was that color lol. The shape is a little more questionable. The wires we've looked at seem to have a square shape to them, not rounded like a handset cord.
  10. Finishing touches on this build can be found in my Vanguard application:
  11. @MrPoopie is that your latest version of that?
  12. If it's 3d printed, the method would depend on the material used. If it's ABS you could make some ABS slurry to patch it up (acetone + scrap ABS). PETG responds very well to plain old superglue. You can then fill the cracks with spot putty, sand, and then repaint.
  13. She just checked in about a month ago, so I would try to reach out to her
  14. Hey Matt! I moved this to the Patrol Trooper armory because that looks like the Patrol Trooper ab. is that Armory Shop armor? @Spiel is this one of yours? @Ruthar @Hask -- any ideas?
  15. Crazy right? Had the same issue with my Shoretrooper. You start to realize that you are doing the weathering more for the photos than for its in-person appearance
  16. Hi Shawn I am not aware of anyone on this forum building a Kashyyyk using those files. Most folks seem to buy armor from @bikerchick (who is also Southern California Garrison, by the way, as am I). @MrPoopie are you aware of these files?
  17. Looks good! I'd say go a little heavier on the boot and soft goods weathering and you're good to go

  19. @StephTrooper was prototyping a Patrol Trooper top but as of yet has not offered them for sale. The Uniforms Warehouse pants work great though!
  20. 1 looks better to me
  21. Yeah if you look in some shots you can see where they are cut on the sides. I just took a strip of elastic and glued it down over the join. easy. And it leaves the underside free for mounting a ziptie anchor. Also it doesn't create the "bowing" effect that a loop creates.
  22. Yeah I wouldn't over think this one! Or any of it, really. They filmmakers didn't -- and it shows
  23. They still giving out a green lens? I'll have to shoot Jeff a PM! Most of us use these. If you space them out right, you can get about 3 lenses out of this sheet: https://www.amazon.com/Hobart-770580-Shield-Replacement-Shaded/dp/B002VECKRO/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=hobart+welder+lens&qid=1610140851&sr=8-7 I haven't had an SC bucket so I've never used the lens clips, but on the buckets I have had (RS and KS), just hot glue on the sides of the lens (not the top and bottom) works just fine.
  24. This is where the fun begins!
  25. Ooh! Ohh! I have an idea! Fold the strap back, and sew it down
