501st approved chest/back/tank 3d files
BikerScout007 replied to RocketGruntNick's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Best set out there is the one by @MrPoopie Thing is -- you're never going to get that wonky, imperfect, asymmetric look of the film armor with 3D printing. That's something only the imperfections of vacuum-pulled ABS plastic will give you. -
Hey Pathfinders! Glad to see so many of you fresh Pathfinders start on your trooping journey with the 501st (or at least us!) I'd like to take this moment to remind y'all that there are actually some rules when it comes to logging your troops! Please read them here: Here are some important things to remember: 1. One troop per post 2. Every post needs an accompanying photo. If you are having difficulties posting photos, please refer to this thread: 3. Troops must be official 501st events you signed up for through your Garrison. So popping on your costume and strolling the local grocery store doesn't count (and yes, I have done this before ) Any questions please ask!

Latest update: The Film Commission contacted me and said they have secured a much bigger parking lot at a nearby location as our parking/muster point. The next step is booking local transports to take us over the Cheatham Grove. Waiting on that news. -
@Hask do you have the images? I don't.

Yes Cristian is one of our approved vendors.

Gloria's ROTJ Biker Scout Build Thread

Okay we don't get super picky about the color of the straps and elastics. Just that they are generally the same color. And that's only if you are doing the off-white pouch, chest and dropbox strap thing. In that case -- those three things should be the same off-white. If you are just doing white, it's fine. So in short, to answer your 3 questions: 1. Yes it has to be cotton for L2. 2. As long as they are all white, it's fine the shades don't precisely match. Or if you do off-white (like by tea-staining), then your pouches, drop box and chest straps have to all match. The other elastics dont matter. 3. Heavy cotton webbing is fine. That's what many of us use, including myself. Something like this will do your Scout and probably 4 others: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086J96YJY/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?pd_rd_i=B086J9T3DG&pd_rd_w=eucvg&content-id=amzn1.sym.f734d1a2-0bf9-4a26-ad34-2e1b969a5a75&pf_rd_p=f734d1a2-0bf9-4a26-ad34-2e1b969a5a75&pf_rd_r=NZ3XX8E98YN97W64VHQ2&pd_rd_wg=558pL&pd_rd_r=41f563e3-0274-4394-9f51-f991138a148d&s=kitchen&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw&th=1 -

OKAY FOLKS THE TROOP HAS GONE LIVE! If you wish to participate in the troop, you must sign up on the Golden Gate Garrison forum. This will most likely involve you having to create a new account on their forum and getting 501st access first. Here is the link to the troop: https://www.501stggg.com/events/2023-06-03-forest-moon-festival-eureka-saturday-june-3-6pm-8pm/?fbclid=IwAR0KErp8qN7VF2gu2utAGXTWlx9srUinzpFHxMSXyfHl9xtUqYFHGKCbc2g A few things to note: 1. The troop is completely separate from the Photo. They have nothing to do with one another. You can do the photo and not the troop, or the troop and not the photo, or both! HOWEVER -- DO NOT SHOW UP TO THE TROOP IN COSTUME WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR IT FIRST. For our safety, and the safety of the organizers and participants, the heads of the local costume groups have specifically asked that you sign up to troop if you wish to participate in the troop. There are a lot of moving parts to this event, and the organizers are really going the extra yard for us. Please don't take advantage of their goodwill. Just sign up if you want to troop! 2. Our photo is in the early morning, the troop is in the late afternoon/early evening. Even though the locations are 40 minutes apart, there should be plenty of time for you to do both. 3. There is no trooping credit for doing just the Photo. That is something we are doing for fun, as tourists that just happen to have screen accurate costumes 4. Fellow Pathfinder @kindabusy is the XO of GGG and the point person for the troop. Please ask her any troop-specific questions. I won't have the answer for you. MORE INFO ABOUT THE PHOTO SHOOT WILL BE FORTHCOMING! -

I'm pretty sure that's what all the organizers are hoping! I will most likely not be trooping, just so I can focus on organizing, but I encourage everyone that wants to troop to sign up with GGG. -

You would actually have to create an account on their forum and ask for access, just like you would any time you sign up on a new 501st forum. https://www.501stggg.com/ Not a bad idea to get your account and access over there set up, but please be aware that, as far as I know, the troop hasn't been made official yet, so there may be nothing to sign up for right now. -

OKAY FOLKS BIG UPDATE! Today I had my second Zoom call with the Film Commission -- this one SPECIFICALLY about the photo shoot. Let me just say first that the organizers as well as the Park Rangers are VERY excited about us doing this and are going to do everything they can to make it as easy a process as possible. Here is the biggest issue: Cheatham Grove (where the speeder bike footage was filmed) has a TINY parking lot -- holds about 5 cars. And there is no parking along Highway 36 at this point in the road. The Park Ranger also explained to me that because there is a blind turn on one side and a straight away on the other, cars tend to come roaring down that stretch of road with little to no warning for pedestrians. The Park Ranger had a great suggestion for us -- which is to set up base camp at a nearby park that has a much bigger lot and then charter a local bus to drive us over to Cheatham. The buses can hold 20 people. She said that the buses cost about $70 an hour with a 2 hour minimum, which all in all sounds pretty good to me. We can pass the hat around to cover it or fundraise in a... different way The Park Ranger also suggested that I move our start time from 10am to 9am. She said there is a popular waterhole near Cheatham and we could lose any parking spots in the lot pretty quick if we wait too late in the day. I was happy to comply with this (and honestly -- we could go earlier if that makes it easier on everyone). Weapons -- park rangers and local law enforcement are being made aware that we are bringing fake plastic pew pews. They will be fine for the photoshoot, but definitely stow them away when we are done. Speeder Bike -- still working on this one. To bring it up from L.A. is going to cost around $1000. Which will also involve fundraising. And Justin (to whom the bike belongs), won't be there for the shoot. We are still trying to figure out if the juice is worth the squeeze on this one... Troops -- There are events that weekend that the Film Commission has requested a troop presence. The local area costume groups (GGG, RL, MM, etc) will be handling those! NOT ME. If you wish to troop, you will need to sign up with whichever one of those groups your costume goes with (for most of us, that will mean signing up on Golden Gate Garrison forum). I have been instructed by the troop organizers to let you all know that if YOU DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A TROOP, DO NOT SHOW UP IN COSTUME TO ONE. As far as I know, an official 501st troop has not been started yet, but when it is I will let you know. This photo is for FUN and is done on your own private time. We are not representing the 501st at Cheatham Grove. We are a bunch of costumers getting together to celebrate ROTJ! Think of this like a convention you are going to on your own dime. Hotel discounts -- I have also received this information, which I have stored on my Google Drive. The link is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16fmFJeY6j8OIAYeKm50WhT8p5zduoRS0/view?usp=sharing Finally, if you haven't signed up on the interest sheet, please do! This is just to get a headcount and to collect email addresses so I can message attendees with any last minute changes: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScpHweP-F_iePSCAeb0wo5Ht53SNs0geRYdRxdxFJ0oI7J7OA/viewform?usp=sf_link -

I think so? You should now tape them all together, cut out the blank spaces and then do a test fitting. You may need to make adjustments. -
