  1. I think the best practice is to follow the tread of your boot and not worry so much about matching perfectly. We don't have a requirement for absolute fidelity, only that you've carved out the teeth in a reasonable facsimile. Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  2. Right, but the cuts dont go all the way around to the front, which was my point. But here, no need to squint, turn your head, magnify and what not, here's some fresh Sierras Now have people cut teeth all the way around, including across the front? Sure and we have never dinged anyone for it. But if you want to save yourself a little time and go for more accuracy, you can leave the fronts as is.
  3. I think it can never hurt to make it look like the picture!
  4. You don't really need any cuts in the front of the boot. The Sierras didn't have them
  5. Welcome to the Pathfinder forum!
  6. You can get a good look at most of the helmets and armors here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17774 Spike does make a good one!
  7. You need one more post. You are only at 4. Lone Wolf and RS are next to impossible to get at this point.
  8. Welcome to the Pathfinders!
  9. Look good, just pricey! Most of us wear these: https://www.amazon.com/Red-Kap-Twill-Action-Coverall/dp/B004KJSKAO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496346236&sr=8-1&keywords=red%2Bkap%2Bcoveralls&th=1&psc=1
  10. Can you get the Red Kap coveralls up there? That's what most of us use as the base
  11. Yes to all this. In this one area, I can recommend KS. but NOT for armor.
  12. At the moment, no one has created a 3d file of the armor. Someone was working on a helmet but as far as I know it's not finished yet. There are armors that fit larger folks, and with the way it is strapped on to you, Scout Trooper armor is very forgiving.
  13. Yup. Definitely a problem. Their stuff is known to turn yellow and brittle too Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  14. That newer chest looks pretty good though! But yeah, I know what you are getting and I want one too!
  15. It's a real beauty! But some of the other armors are pretty close. And some are WAAAAAYYYYY off
  16. You can see a hem on the sleeves in the film. Also, Gino put a hem on his Scout's sleeves and he modeled his off of what he saw in the archives
  17. A lot of the differences are due to the punishment these suits took during shooting. The Scout was designed for stunts and they reportedly broke things on set all the time. Also, for some of the very stunt-intensive scenes, a rubber version of the armor was made. It's most prominent in the scene where Han Solo sneaks up on the biker scout and then flips him over. The proportions of that armor are slightly off from other armor seen in the movie.
  18. Yeah this project has made me really give the MC a second look!
  19. Sorry! I didn't mean to imply it was the same holster, just that the right boot had a holster at one time because you can see the holes. We have no idea why this was done or why they chose to display this Scout costume when they have others that presumably have the holster still on the right.
  20. The placement of the gray rectangle should have answered that question for you That's the scout from the Costumes book. For some reason his holster is on the wrong boot. Judging by the holes in the right boot where a holster used to be, it probably fell out and was moved to the other side for display
  21. I just need a pic of the front and back and I will be happy to!
  22. Hey y'all! Since I've been sitting home sick this Memorial Day weekend, I decided to throw together some comparison pics of the various armors versus the Scout in the Costumes book to see how they measure up. I tried to get Lancer app photos where I could, so it would be the best representation of the armor, and only used pics where the armor was one maker from head to toe. If anyone has a better representation photo, I am happy to use it. I will also do back photos when I get one for each So here we go, in alphabetical order: Altmann (now offered by Pilot Bay - USA) Chef (U.K.) Gino's (not for sale) Kropserkel (KS) (Canada) (the dropboxes were modified to be shorter than they are out of the box) Moncal (MC) (USA) RS Props (UK) RWA Creations Studio Creations (old version) (SC) (USA) Studio Creations ver. 2 Armor (SC) (USA) CFO/Strider (UK) Walt's Trooper Factory v1 (WTF) (USA) Walt's Trooper Factory v2 (WTF) (USA)
  23. I can't see why not. A lot of costumes allow faux leather. Including the Scout. We allow faux suede for the thigh patches and the boots are made from vinyl even though the screen ones were leather. For Basic, appearance is more important than material
