  1. I should be free that weekend! Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  2. That would be a neat trick! Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  3. Updated the original post with some test fitting pics!
  4. Not much else to post man! hahaha. I didn't get a full kit, only what Strider could fit in his luggage I did add the belt pic to the original post. I forgot to put that up
  5. I didn't get a full kit so I still need to use my SC arm and leg armor, and my old TD. But so glad to have an accurate chest piece and one piece belt! With accurate sized dropboxes. Strider did a great job with this!
  6. I'm copying off of Shaun Not a full blown build thread, as I forgot to take progress pictures. Just a few snaps of what I've done with the great Armor and belt I received. My Strider armor vs. my old SC armor: Comparison of the back. SC left, Strider right The Strider armor all strapped up With the tank strapped on. I have it hanging down low so you all can see how the elastic loops over the top of the back armor Elastic attached to the rivets I used a parachute clip to connect the two ends together And I forgot to post the belt! I didn't have enough nylon webbing to go all the way around the belt so I just used segments. But the cotton webbing I ran all the way through as a continuous piece, with the ends sewn to the nylon. The webbing I used was 48 inches. And a test fit! That is still the SC armor on my arms, I don't have those pieces from the Strider kit. The shoulder bells connect to my armor with zip ties and velcro. I had them hot glued to my SC which was working great until we had a really hot day here and the glue melted! Though I have the TD box and end caps, I still need to get the wire from Shaun and a tube to put them around, so I'll be using my old SC TD for the foreseeable future. I want to get longer nylon straps for the belt and replace the ones I have on there now. I measured them the same length as my SC straps but the Strider belt is firmer and doesn't have as much give as the SC. Also, I have attached the pouches to my cummerbund and they now hang in a more natural and screen accurate manner. They always seem to come down at a weird angle when they are attached to the chest armor and I'd rather have them look right then be worried about them supporting a speaker or other items. My personal preference! I need to put some foam in them too. Hope this helps or gives you some good ideas!
  7. That is correct. The neck seal was worn under the flight suit. Since you can't see it, we don't require it Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
  8. Don't know what kit you have but many of them have indents where the cuts should go. I just made a new belt with Strider's kit. Here is the back of it so maybe this will help guide you
  9. Sorry to hear that, buddy, I will shoot you a PM with some info. Also, since you are in Virginia, I would hit up your local ART for help in your Garrison. Here's the Point of Contact info: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showuser=74798 Send Alex a message and he can give you more localized help!
  10. Well this time they've gone too far. They have ended photo hosting services unless you pay them $400 a year. Which means years and years of threads using pictures on Photobucket are now without images. Talk about slamming into a tree
  11. Sorry for the sad state of the forum right now. We are all suffering the effects of Photobucketpocalypse
  12. Correct! The front of the vest can't be seen under the armor so there's not a hard and fast rule about it. I will say though that since the back opening tends to be straight across, most folks tend to do the front the same way. Straight as opposed to rounded.
  13. A lot of caveats in that thread so make sure to take note of them all
  14. That's what we're here for! My best advice for you is to not look at other Legion member's costumes for example. Look at the movie or the Costumes book!
  15. Also the height is WAY off. Our further appraisals of the cummerbund, based on the Costumes book and Gino's scout, puts the cummerbund height somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 to 9 inches. We have really been getting away from the old style 501st bund that looked more like a tube top than a cummerbund. Now this height measurement can vary based on the trooper (the bund should run from just under the chest armor to the top of the belt), but 8 to 9 inches is a much better starting place than 12 inches.
  16. This pattern isn't quite right though. It has too many vertical lines in the center (there should be only 6) and many of us are not attaching the codpiece to the bund any more but making it a separate piece that attaches to the vest, as was done in the movie
  17. Hey Patrick! We mix and match because some armor makers do a better job with some pieces rather than others. It is very common to mix and match helmets and armors. Also, some vendors are faster and more reliable than others, and they tend to get more business. You can take a look at this thread for comparison photos of the major armor builders vs. the Scout armor from the movie. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=17774 I wouldn't worry too much about the armor when it comes to your chest. The real place that may cause issues is with your soft goods, such as the vest and the cummerbund. That you will have to work out when you give your measurements to the soft goods maker you commission Welcome to the Pathfinders!
  18. Okay, I put the photos on a new hosting site. Hope everyone can see them again!
