Welcome! They are very different. You wouldn't be able to use the same armor and just paint it camo, if that's what you are getting at. Though they look similar at a quick glance, the dimensions of each piece are quite different. I believe Sean Fields is working on a Kashyyyk helmet to print, but as far as I know, no Kashy armor has been given the 3d file treatment. I feel your pain buddy. With the majority of the costume designing and building happening in England now, it's very tough for the rest of us to get the proper gear. Even in America it's hard to get a hold of certain things without paying exorbitant shipping charges from the UK.

No if anything the buttflap can be smaller. It should not extend past your butt or go all they way out to your sides.

No it looks like a rear zipper will be required for L2. It was just discovered along with a closing snap on the toy

It was their choice to post those photos on their site and perfectly within our right to criticize them. That's our job, to steer people in the right direction. IB and RS both hold themselves as being close to screen accurate. As a Detachment we need to let makers know when that standard hasn't been met. The fact that they immediately changed the cummerbund means they are listening to critique and willing to make adjustments. What would have happened if we said nothing? And finally, no prop -- be it armor or soft goods -- is 501st approvable off the shelf. They need to be tailored to the particular wearer first.

It won't be until after elections are over and the new term starts March 1st. The boots that Stefan posted above would meet Level 2 requirements.

Everyone play nice or I'm turning the speeder bike around and going back to the bunker. The paint around the snout is pretty tough to nail down in a description. In some cases we really do have to rely on photos. You just need a bit more than what you have. Chopper's markup to your photo pretty much nails it down.

There's nothing wrong with them per se for basic. Yes they will need the soles cut to match the screen ones. My issue with them is more aesthetic. They don't look like a boot with a leather wrap over top of it. They just look like a pair of boots. So the material sits "closer" to the surface of the boot than the screen used ones did. Check out photos of production boots here. Those were Sierra Sneakers covered up with leather: t's purely a matter of taste and would not mean a rejection of your application as long as you did all the Level 2 requirements. We do require: The boot sole is a single color with no visible stitching. I see stitching on the soles in some of the sample photos IB provided of their Scout boots. Those would need to be covered up somehow. Additionally, I'm not sure how much they customize their boots to fit the wearer. I see they sell by shoe size but I don't see any place where they ask for the width of your leg. Personally, I have big calves and I'd be worried that the closure wouldn't fit around them! Finally, you have some great prop makers in the UK that you can get boots from. I just saw this and the video they put out. I think the soft goods have been massively improved and the armor looks great. The boots are always going to just miss the mark though. An actual boot is never going to look like a leather-wrapped Sierra Sneaker!

Yes that cover is way too wide for Level 2. An inch at the widest. There really shouldn't be a gap between the shoulder joins. They should be touching.

I need to take a picture of my armor, but I just have a 1 inch wide strip of elastic (a strip, NOT a loop) glued over the join. I like to do things like the way they were done in the film.

Well if we are showing off builds, mine is here Like I said above, my webbing straps are sewn to the nylon webbing closure.

It doesn't matter as that is a detail that can't be seen when the costume is worn. I did it like it was done in the film, so mine are sewn. Some people attach with snaps or velcro.

Sweet! That reinforces what a lot of us always thought, that they were just 2 inch cotton webbing and not anything stretchable.
