I dont think it has to be painted honestly. We have a lancer in my garrison and he's one of two scouts who painted theirs, the other being a shadow scout who bought white armor to save a couple hundred bucks
-
Talked to one guy in my garrison and he said he was in fact approved before it was added to the crl and didn't upgrade. I must say that his costume does look rough compared to the other scouts we have. His boots are different as well. Almost like the whiter rubber fishing boots
-
Now they could have had relaxed gmls also. I've seen great costumes denied like our grevious for example, who's costume was built by my wicked armor, but some that were approved and you dont know how they passed
-
I have seen scouts without the mud flap and patch who were approved. They simply said that you can't see it in the pics.

Looking good trooper! You'll be dodging trees and hunting ewoks in no time!

Standard clearance is what I have and kept my vents and side pockets. I took back and leg pockets off. Left the chest pockets because armor and he's cover them just as cummerbund covers bents and sides. In fact I use my pouches for MIC amp, money I may need at an event, phone and various fellow troopers put their stuff in my pouches. Lucky for me I left chest pockets because my amp is just small enough to fit and easier to hide the mic cord. Only problem there is i sometimes get feedback.

Same kit I have. There's a walkthrough on their website for a visual guide of sorts. I sought many references for when their instructions didnt answer some.questions. The lens should be drawn on. Its a pain to cut but the helmet is where I started. I guess I wanted to try on the bucket first. The arm and knee pads are a fairly quick process I found. Sc doesn't put the black border on the snout so you will have to paint that in. For the lens heat the lens very carefully with a heat gun or on a block of wood in the oven on warm for just a min or two. I stuck it with ez600 like.the rest of my helmet and armor. That's a start. Cant wait to watch your progress. Im a new build wip junkie

Any chance you want to sell that r2 cooler?

In bast alpha it has taken days to approve a member to the forum. Most of these guys have jobs and families and don't check in everyday. Hell, it took two week for my gwl to edit and send in my profile pics. So im sure they will get to you. I know a few people in star and they are wonderful people.

Like.Cheshire I was completely green when i started as well. I opened that big brown box and was like um. Sc gives ok directions but you may find that you will need to glance at the crl and look at other links online. Its really self explanatory though. As for as plastic, I started with the bucket. Really it was the last thing I finished as well. I had some issues so don't forget the black border around the snout. I painted it on with testors model paint. I have problems posting pics from tattalk but look Jeremy Bubonos Beech on fb and ill send you pics for reference if you want.

You are the same size as me, get the full sc kit with helmet
-
For me soft parts were the hardest. Luckily a friend from my local rebel legion made my vest and cummerbund. As.said before sc is a great kit. I troop in the full set. Idk your size but bigger guys complain about the bucket. I personally love it but im of average build. Gloves, easy! I got mine from wampawear.com and love them! I say get the suit while you're there though I got the one linked from 501.com. Boots easy and fun build as well. Baklava, amazon. When you get your kit, dive right in! Boots are a good start though I found. When you get started make a wip and you will get plenty of help from people here. Plus i love to see the progress of a new build

Add some to the top straps and take some from the bottom. You look to be broad chested so that can be an issue im sure but id hate to see you send in approval pics and the say the sides of your armor need to come in more.
-
Looking good as always brother. You may find you need to shorten a strap here and there. In some areas I honestly put rivets in holding nothing at all so the rivet is seen but the straps are adjustable still. In the close to a year I've been in costume I've had to shorten my elastic once and van see replacement needed in a few months. Granted I troop often and troop hard. I like to get active more than just stand in one spot posing for pics all day. That and I want natural weathering on my armor and not painted scuffs and grime. All our scouts in my garrison are so shiny and I want to look like I've been to endor!

Just had to replace a cap on mine. A youngling tore one of my end caps almost completely off.

Man watching you makes me want to build

I had a fire place at my last apt and didnt think of that! I made my boots and armor in late winter and had a fire most nights. I went with the oven because so many of my fellow garrison mates insisted on it because it was too cold to use a car. Idk where you're from but I'm in Louisiana, in the summer my boots start getting soft an hour into an outdoor troop. Let us know how it does. Your wip has been more fun than others I've seen and only one i follow.

An example of how much overlap I gave for Velcro
-
I was gonna say make sure you have enough for the Velcro on the back. At the bone is where I screwed up and had to start over. My bone was fine, but needed more from the back piece and I but my toe section too small. I say start with the toe. I didnt heat and stretch the back section and on hot troops the tend to get warm and sag some. Stretch that toe till you can't get much more stretch out of it. I thumb tacked the final to the sole and baked it at 100 or so for like ten min or until I smelled rubber and instantly got to stretching. As I've said alot, this was my favorite part. I'm excited for you!!!
-
I'm planning a shadow scout build and am looking forward to do this again but in black!
-
I got the vinyl at a fabric shop. Shoe goo and thumb tacks at WalMart. I found the boots at WalMart too actually. This was my favorite part of the entire build. I'll admit that it gave me trouble. I made some bad measurements at first and had to start all over but both attempts were fun. I did the heating and stretching in the oven. It was cold when I did it just like it will be for you so a hot car may not work but set the oven at warm and leave it in for a few min or until you smell rubber

Does anyone attach their pouches to their armor?
Bubonos replied to Bobik96's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
