DR's KST WIP (Kashyyyk Scout Trooper)
Death Recon replied to Death Recon's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
Ok so here's a couple things I got finished today... All my hard armor is painted an has a few clear coats on it, all greebs & decals are installed, all except the helmet visor (oh but soon!) I still need to weather everything (this will get rid of the shine) Camo pattern added to all my soft armor... (By that i meant my pouches comm-tech) my cummerbund only has tan and brown weathering added to it (The brown doesn't look nearly as dark in person, the whole thig still looks mainly grey) Oh an I finished painting my belt as well, I painted it with grey primer then hit each block with a normal acrylic black, then topped it all off with a few clear coats. I've let it dry and tryed to scrunch it up, twisted it, and folded it to make sure it won't crack or stick to itself and peel the paint) So I forgot to pick up more E6000; Velcro; and super glue... I still need to add some snaps to the armor (E6000) and connect the back/chest pieces at the side (Velcro) Oh well, I'll pick some up tomorrow and probably see the riding patch on as well. (What do you guys think of the camo patterns?) -
That looks great buddy, nice idea with the suspenders... I had a similar idea to add snaps to the top of my cummerbund and the chest area of my BDU's I painted my belt with grey primer then hit each block with a paint brush then coated it all in clear coat, it's dry now and doesn't crack off or stick together

Ok so now other then having to weather everything I only need to: Sew my riding patch on; Wait for my reflective visor and glue that in; Air brush my green camo on sort armor; Rig my croch piece on; & finaly add snaps/Velcro to BDU's for connecting the armor! So 5 steps and I should e good for approval! -

I'll be adding snaps and Velcro to hold everything in place... I've already got Matt's connector system all rigged up so I'm just adding to that. Oh, my riding patch came in today, thanks Rob, I think I have enough for two riding patches! LoL -

Got the arm greebs glued on, clear coat on nearly everything... Just waiting for the riding patch and visor lens, in the meantime I'll throw some weathering on the rest of the armor. -

So I got the elbow strap greeb cut down to size, then hollowed out: Then the arm greebs and the small greebs (not included with kit) for the shins painted... I'm waiting for paint to dry so I can continue LoL... And waiting for stuff in the mail... So close yet so far from finishing LoL -
Too bad, it was a good idea. Thanks for giving it a try and letting us know.

Thanks guys, yeah I seen Matt mention the 1/8 pin-strip so I picked some up and finished putting it on the tank a minute ago. All I need to do is paint the tank greeb black and I can throw a clear coat on. I need to paint the rubber greebs for the arms then I can clear coat them as well, I'll probably wait and do the top half all together. -

I put a piece of Velcro on the top of the toes on the boot and the underside of the toes on the toe cap. I connect the shins and toe cap with a small elastic strap (so now the toe cap will rise and fall properly when you walk but still be held down in place)... When I get that installed later today I will post a pic and show you, here's the Velcro I've been useing. Works great and sticks to basicly anything -

I finished painting the camo on all my hard armor, the bottom half has 2-3 coats of clear (once I have 2-3 coats of clear on everything I'll weather it with greebs and veering thing) I almost got through putting all the brown camo on my soft armor pieces but I had to put the kid down to sleep. Oh an I put a bit of the camo/weathering on the cummerbund (don't worry it looks darker in the pictures then up close in person) *update - I just sprayed some tan on it to tone it down a bit* ...I need to go get more super glue to put my greebs on ran out when I was putting the straps/greebs on my shins -

K so there is something very strange about the rubber these greebs were made of... I sprayed my belt woth grey primer (that drys in 15 mins) and its still a bit sticky to the touch, so not fully cured yet. I'm gonna leave it for another day and then I dont know what but I'm gonna have to check the other greebs, since I'm nearly at the point to put them all on -

I could contact them if your really curious just to give them a heads up I'll be applying in 2-3 weeks (hopefully sooner but I'm waiting on the riding patch and another piece) Oh yeah I sprayed my belt with the grey primer I've used for my other grey greebs, it hasn't fully dried yet but it's not rubbing off... Was planing on getting a bunch of my painting down tomorrow but I guess the wife has some family outings she rather me attend -
Yeah there's a corner on mine that will crack... Trying to find a fix but maybe after I'm approved I'll sand that bit down and basically start over.

Cummerbund is 95% finished, just going to hit it with some tan/green/brown misting and she will be good to go. I didn't get the rest of my armor pieces painted yet but I did put a clear coat on the stuff I had finished painting yesterday. Cut the holes in the shins for the straps to go through, sprayed the stap I have tan (couldn't find anything kahki or tan) Added the greebs to the toe caps with super glue... **watch out, super glue will leave a misty white substance if you use to much or slide it into place** Oh I sprayed my kahki pouches with a misting of tan, just getting ready to put the camo brown/green on them when I finish the rest of my hard armor's green camo. Yeah I think that's all I got done today... LoL -
You have enough to send a piece of that up north here Matt? How much you want for it? (What is it and where did you get it)
-
Can you post that screen grab of the "grey drop pouch" when you get back please? I've one through all of mine and not one is grey...
-
Ask you GML where it says the drop pouches say to be grey and NOT the same camo pattern... This is from the CRL: * 2 drop boxes with 4 straps hung from belt and belt buckle - are either cloth covered and painted with camo pattern or covered with multi-cam cloth Everything should be misted grey/black/white, maybe this is why your GML thinks your drop pouches need to be grey I can see having to redo the back colour but try just misting it with a lighter colour first... I like your idea for closing at the side, as long as its not noticeable Didn't BC include a reflective green lens? Mine seems like it's proper...

Yeah I'm not sure about the belt, but I did get a little bit of paint on it before when I was working with my air brush and it hasn't scratched or rubbed off (too bad it's brown and not grey LoL) Ok so I started to paint my green on the armor (but then the kid went to bed and my air compressor is loud) What do you guys think of colours and pattern? -

Oh they are all just laying on the cummerbund right now. (I don't think they should be one on top the other because then they arnt 'useable' but I will drop the bigger ones down) I put my cummerbund & chest/back piece on... Then I took my fabric marker and drew how high my chest/back were on the cummerbund. My wife takes a bit of coercing to get her to help me
