  1. I'll be putting the side with the button holes on bottom, so you won't be able to see then even without the cummerbund and armour
  2. black, dry, 2nd attempt So i was using the washing machine method, i think thats why its not comming out as dark but untill i see the contrast with the armour i will leave it at this stage for now (stll need to sharpie all the threads)
  3. I will need to dye them again (also permanent marker all the threads) Here they are dry, they look darker in person, dont know why they look brown again in pic
  4. well, i guess rest is for the wicked... I used the chest pockets rather than then the leg pockets. I cut them down one side and basicly just overlapped them to bring them to size. I took a look at them while pinned to my leg but they looked too tall so i took them down by a 1/2 inch, now they are 5,1/4 by 6,1/2 then I started on the top/cover flap for them... and so here is the finished product after i sew everything together, and put it on (by hand) I also removed all the buttons, im going to add a strip of velcro insted And now for the dyeing
  5. Im just finishing up sewing on the thigh pockets, gonna sew the neck piece on then i will dye it all tomorrow... I still need to see the cummerbund, gonna have to talk to my mother-in-law in the summer when im home for a bit about using her sewing machine.
  6. main question, what are the dimenses for the thigh pouches...
  7. Ok so Ive been interested in building my own set of armour for the past 4-5 years (and a star wars fan for the past 25 yrs) but never looked into costuming much (my general interest was into the Scout trooper untill i realized I could make a Kashyyyk, then it was all uphill from there!) I went to my local Army/Navy Surplus store (Ontario, Canada) and found a set of the British DPM Desert Cam combats, ($45) *1 shows where i will add a neck piece to cover the gap in neckline. *2 shows where i removed the chest pockets, *3 shows where the old Leg pockets were... I also removed all patches and the ass pocket. Im taking all the buttons off the front and then replacing them with velcro. I belive this will help with pressure points, and there will be no need to hide buttons Thaks for your time, Death Recon - Allan
  8. Would love to get a set... Haven't seen anything more on this though
  9. Any news on this set? I still haven't found any hard pieces for the Kashyyk (think I've lined up most of the shift pieces that I don't think I can make on my own)
  10. Any news for this or is it in limbo?
  11. These are the boots I wore on tour. (The one showing the side and sole) The other pair are just an extra set I have laying around. Do you guys think the sole pattern and everything will work? I'm brand new to costuming so everything I do will be a first time for me. Any thoughts or advice would help, thanks guys
  12. Thanks guys... Chilledmilk, I will start looking into all of that, (yes I'm in the Canadian Military and have a few sets of tan boots around LoL); Grumpy I've already talked to you through PM and thanks for the quick replies; & HeatShock your the first that I got in contact with and you pointed me in the right direction... I'm glad I found a good knowledgable group of people that have a similer interests. I've checked the CRL on the 501st already but it was incomplete but I just seen we have a "very nice and indepth" CRL here on the forum so I will be going off that
  13. Hey guys/girls, I'm new to the forum but have been interested in making my own set of armor for a few years now. I'm looking to build my first set of armor now. I seen a Kashyyyk Scout Trooper and knew that's what I wanted so here I am. I've been kicking around here for the past week checking it out and seeing what people are selling because I will need everything. I guess what I need most though is information on where to get the best/better supplies or even pieces of armour. Anyways anything helps, thanks in advance.
  14. So now the liner is out does thy mean you go down a size for gloves? ie someone thy needs Lrg only needs Med now?
  15. I am very interested in getting a FULL kit... This will be my first kick at the can for building a set of armor! PM sent
