Chest armour grey shoulder straps
Death Recon replied to Adie1979's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Armor/Helmet
I used industrial strength Velcro, I have Velcro on the ends of the chest/back pieces PLUS on te top of my T-Connectors that connect the chest/back/sholders... The T-Connector is a trick from Grumpy, I added padding so you don't get armor bite. -
Missing a piece seems to happen to the best of us Looks good though, I had to wait till I stoped laughing to be able to type this. Ive been reading up on how to do multiple layers then sand down and make it look like blaster marks. Seems this is the way your going... Makes me want to strip it all down and do my paint job over again Keep up the good work, your coming along nicely.

Yeah I ran my Kashyyyk build price pretty high... But that included a DC-15S, DC-15L, fans, speakers & an Icomm So my wife isn't all for the idea of me starting another build at the moment and definitely not one that cost $850 for just te armor I'm workin my charm on her though, LoL I'm sure we will come to an agreement sometime in te near future
-
I painted it all grey then painted each square black. As for the paint sticking and peeling off: This happend to me as well, but once you have your pouches on it is 85% covered so u less this is part of the 15% don't worry... The only way to get the grey primer (rustoleum) to stick is to take a sanding wheel and your dremmel and sand down every bit of the belt (or any of the other plastic greeblies for that matter) You need the rubber to look rough, there's no chance in hell you can do it by hand, LoL, so sanding pinwheel and dremmel it like I said Orrrr... Prim with te rustoleum grey then put a touch of clear coat over it (the primer will not cure properly and will remain taky, once a light clear coat is applied it *should* cure pretty well but twisting and bending it will cause the clear coat to crack and then you have black showing brought again... That's the quick n easy temp fix Hope it works out for you, if you find something else that works fill is in buddy

I pulled my lens out and now waiting for new reflective tint to arrive, added foam to inside on bicep and shin pieces, plus touched up all the insides with a 2nd coat black paint, oh and Sanded down and repainted my elbow straps since it was chipping off... Yeah so I'm still busy picking at things and working on this kit, but I have put the big in my wife's ear that I want to start a Republic Commando build LoL probably won't be for a while till I get the funds for that though
-
Blasfamy! Well maybe... I'm not sure... Can we be part of both since we were with the Jedi before Order 66?
-
Even though I'm finished my build I'm still kickin around, but it seems like everyone else took an extended summer vacation or something. Where's are all you guys at in your builds?
-
I have a Kashyyyk Trooper not a Scout but they are similar, I'd suggest picking up a heat gun and a dremmel tool before starting... It's better to have everything you need and not need it, rather than need it and have to stop till you get it or work on another piece. Just take it slow and you will end up with an awesome build good luck

I went to the paint section at my local hard wear store. I stood there for an hour with my phone and trying to match the proper colours. So no worries if you can't find the same as everybody else (as long as its close) Unless you have other Kashyyyk Troopers in your area, then you should all try and match up
-
If your going to buy one then I suggest Mr.WoodChuck, his quality is outstanding and not to be matched (plus I even got the rifle with a blue light with working trigger) Take a look for yourself, he makes numerous weapons and other accessories (ie. helmet stands, plaques) http://woodchuck.imperial-web.com/

Here, I found a guy that made his own as well, it's a cool idea. Maybe you could do something like this? https://70thexplorers.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=3811

I thought BARC was "Biker Advanced Recon Commando" Just saying but hence my name Death "Recon".... I agree with you, nowhere in the movie(s) do you see the Kashyyyk Trooper riding speeder bikes. Also with this if you remove our biker status then do we really belong in the pathfinder detachment? I like it here, don't make me go back to the masses of the clone army Anyways I think this has gotten away from my original question on how our Kashyyyk Troopers apply for elite status. I know the decision is ultimately up to Marcel as the detachment head but should we atart anothwr theread and ask what the Kashyyyk Troopers would like? CB or KT?
-
My head is 23" believe me I know what you mean... But all you have to do is keep cutting out the neck and the bucket will fit over (as of now only BikerChick is making the Kashyyyk armor) There are multiple ways on how to make your bucket though, there was a good thread Grumpy put together showing he different variations on how you can make your bucket: ie normal drop down; flip up face; removable face... Everything seems a bit overwhelming the first time you try, so choose the way you want to go and stick to it.
-
That's what I mean by 2 levels, 501st and elite. On the note of changing the designation... It might not be profitable for all the "Clone BARC's" (I'm guessig this is where the designation comes from) People have trading cards, name tags, name plates, and other customized merchandise that would then be obsolete.

We as in the fellow CB's when it was discussed on what a more accurate CRL was. It's in our CRL that there is 2 levels now and how to accomplish the higher level. Didn't mean to stir the pot, just looking for clarification.
-
So as we decided, there are two levels to our beloved Kashyyyk Trooper. I see there's a topic section of the forum for the Pathfinders to apply for their higher status, but as far as I can tell we haven't gotten around to this. Is this something we put up through our GML as we did for our initial approval or is this done in-house with the detachment?
-
Ok so here's what I have for my 95% complete rifle... I think I'm done painting, just need to clear coat then weather it: I'll be adding a few more touch-ups with the black to fix some of the bleeding when I applied the metallic paint, after that as I already said; clear coat and weathering then I'm done (have my TK-ID carved in bottom of handle)

Gloves, gloves, gloves...Kashyyyk, that is.
Death Recon replied to Grumpy's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
Still need to get the glove greebs off Holle first, I think it was Holle anyways -
Hold up on getting them online, I'll take a look in my local Army/Navy surplus store... You've tried that as well correct? You won't find Brittish BDU's at a normal hunting store. As I said I'll take a look but I'll need to know your sizes (just medium or large will do, height and weight works as well) I'm in NB and I can promise that buying from a surplus then shipping from my place to yours will cost less then anything online
-
Just thought I'd fill you in on my progress. I'm finished all the touch ups on my blaster, still working on my rifle though (going to be taking my time with the rifle and trying to make it perfect) Blaster: The rifle I put a coat of primer then 2 coats of gun metal coloured paint: I should have my rifle finished befor Fan Expo

That's wicked! Glad your approval finally came, I was starting to wonder! You guys are lucky you have other members so close, I checked my area and the closest to me is a couple hundred KM LoL

Haha thanks Matt, Looks like I timed my tattoo perfectly with my approval (appointments on minday) I've been planning on getting this one done for a while, it's actually an addition to my Galactic Imperial cog on my wrist. It'll have a "wet spray-paint" look to it when it's all colored in.
