Looks good! Just put the forearm armor outside the gloves and move your right shoulder forward a bit. And chin up! You're a Pathfinder soon!
-
Here's how I did it. No velcro, just two loops on the end which I hand-stitched. The velcro on the inside is really what's keeping it up so there's no need to tighten it too much. I stretched it as much as I could, then fastened it with a pin, and then sewed it together.

GREAT! Now get those submissions photos and send them in!

Casting problem with my pistol
Southscout replied to BananoPower22's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
I agree with Marcel. That's a very poor cast. I've seen some bubbles during my time here checking stuff, but nothing like this. -
Yup. they're a pain to sew on! Try by hand otherwise, might be easier than to try to fit the suit in the machine. Good luck!

You can see mine here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10128&st=0&p=84809entry84809

E6000 is your friend, mate. And if there's space between the greeblie and the TD box then put a thin plastic shim in between.
-
I made mine so they end just around the top of the knee armor.

Hose / tubing for thermal detonator

Maybe the good folks at SC or MC will sell you just the tube. I think MC sells it for $6. -
Snout painting - hints and tips needed
Southscout replied to Southscout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Thought I'd revive this old thread in case someone is searching around for snout-painting hints and tricks. I used spray after a very heavy masking: The mask is made of car detailing vinyl which I cut out to the correct shape. I then put the entire helmet in a plastic bag and taped everything up. After this I gave it several coats during an evening (a very stressful evening..), making sure to use the hot-water trick on the paint (i.e put the can in hot water, the hottest I could get out of a faucet so it's around 45 degrees centigrade). I gave it maybe 30-40 minutes between each coat, and there's 4 or 5 coats. After giving it just a couple of minutes to dry in the end, barely touch-dry but not running, I pulled of the mask and then I did a backflip since it came out so nice. I noticed that there was a tiny flare out at the bottom right, it's around 1mm, but it bugged me, so I ended up just scraping it off with a blade. Probably something only myself would notice, but that was enough.... I hope this helps whoever reads this (old) thread -
Upgrading MC boots to Lancer spec
Southscout replied to elwyn5150's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I think I saw somewhere here that someone used a Krylon or Rustoleum paint. See if you can't find it and then PM the guy/gal to check how it worked. -
I used the method which came with the MC CD. Here's how the strap looked before adding poppers. So it pops on from underneath, then goes around the top from the outside, which makes the elastic and velcro come out underneath: And here are the poppers as they are attached to the shoulders. The only tricky part is to figure out where to put the velcro on the T-bit so it closes once you've made the loop around the bridge.

Looks good mate. Maybe bring the boxes up a bit (1/2 inch maybe?). Also, I can't see the strap on the shoulder joints, looks like it's not there. Or? A picture from behind would also help

A bit confused on how to attach the pouches?
Southscout replied to dankelzaga's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
My pouches have forward facing velcro attached to the inside of the chest armor. Easy to move around etc, but basically up to your own preference. As for the suspenders vs. velcro bund to the flight suit, again it's up to you. some people has velcro on the flight suit connecting to the inside of the bund, some has suspenders. I made mine with two straps of webbing and some suspender clips found at a local store: Pros: easy to make, easy to move around. Cons: the bund might slip a bit to the right or the left, if you're using velcro and are careful in placing it you know that it will sit on the exact same spot every time. But there are pros and cons with the velcro as well of course. -
SC Helmet Mod - The Noobtastic "Sink or Swim" Thread
Southscout replied to bwattsup's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Interesting! It will be nice to see the end product. Love the R2 on the desk, when I made my armor I was sometimes meaner than a rattlesnake... Had to make it up afterwards by letting the kids run around with the helmet on. -
I heated my lens with an embossing gun before securing it with hot glue basically like above but with less pressure.

TB5694 Requesting Lancer Deployment (PENDING)
Southscout replied to treehugger's topic in Lancer Deployment Request
MOD EDIT " Lancer app Staff only to post in the lancer area thank you" -
Your bags should switch sides as well, and be moved outwards a bit. Basically your right one should start within the grey square on your chest. Otherwise, great start!

I also drilled myself in the thumb when I did my knees.. I guess it's a way to become "blood brother" with your armor. After all, one of the most famous scouts in ROTJ was a native american, Lighting Bear

Just a friendly hint, the straps go a bit higher up than expected, so make sure you measure them while wearing the undersuit! And they sit tight, not loose. For the riding patch pattern I copied the image you find on the boards into Word, I then measured along the seam of the undersuit to get the length good, and then by using the ruler in Word I scaled the picture to be the exact length and then printed it on A3 paper. The picture has a line that will go along the inner seam, so it's a good measurement point. For the width measure the same way to get it looking good on your frame. Oh, and another hint, keep a good count on those pins when you attach everything. I forgot one in the exactly *wrong* place. Man, that hurt...

And if you can, I'd recommend swapping out the straps for the hip boxes and try to move the attaching bolt to behind your TD-tubes. They are visible now, plus they look a bit short on you. It's also better to have a single strap from the front to the back, just going behind the clips. If you check Pandatrooper's build thread he has some nice close ups on how it looks. A hint for the belt is to add a small piece of velcro in the front to both the bund and the belt, that way you know that it's never going to slip. I plan to add a piece in the back as well actually, just to be extra sure.
-
Looks good. You might want to get you hip boxes higher up and towards the back a bit. And the forearm piece should cover the glove, having the elastic just outside the glove which will make the pointy part go over it. It's good to fix before you add any potential velcro to the undersuit and the piece itself.

I got some adhesive "industrial strength" velcro from EBay and there was no issue in getting it to stick to the plastic. Might want to clean off the plastic with some rubbing alcohol first. If you use E-6000 then you have to sand a bit first so the glue has something to stick on. Plus, the E-6000 isn't so good on plastic that might bend a bit, it's not flexible. I used the Ebay-seller "convertape". Search for VELCRO TAPE 50MM X 1M ADHESIVE HEAVY DUTY. Trooperbay also has it: http://trooperbay.com/velcro-industrial-strength-hook-and-loop-tape-blk-90197/ This stuff will stick to your fluffy velcro without any issues, I have mixed and matched 3 different types and it works fine.

You might have to also swap out a strap here and there depending on your growth, like the strap keeping your chest armor together.
