Tips for sewing the rear Velcro?
4505Marcel replied to 01Hawk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
We talking for the boots right? I usually do the top fold first, turn over about 15mm, then loosely hold the Velcro on the side of the vynil. And away you go, once that needle has gone through it can't move, it's just a case of guiding it through and keeping it against the edge. I take it you are doing it with Velcro side up and vynil underneath against the sewing machines walking foot? -
Tips for sewing the rear Velcro?
4505Marcel replied to 01Hawk's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Not really sure what you mean, can't say I have noticed any issues sewing Velcro? I set the needle up towards one side so it runs on one foot grabbing/ moving thing and it goes through fine. Is your needle blunt? -
I usually say measure around nipple height on the chest, measure around belt height for waist. Bund height from belt height to nipple height, but from the lower side of an imaginary belt if you like

New disvoveries on cummerbund destined for lancer spec?
4505Marcel replied to Donovan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
The staff did discuss this not so long back, there will be no changes to either CRL. As long as once fully suited up a trooper looks right and in proportion. What's hidden underneath is a troopers choice. There probably will be a couple of small, detail changes, such as the TD clips. But the issue we have, is there is very little interest in the Lancer programme, so making it much harder will just end it I recon. The BSN as a whole seems to have a really good attitude towards accuracy now, people making changes, without the need for a title because of it. When I first became DL I got shot down for wanting troopers to add a riding patch, or more importantly a vest and so on. Look at us now, digging for details all the time. Something I'm very proud of, the scout costume is no longer an inaccurate easy costume that someone does for his wife's cousin just to get them into the legion.- 6 replies

Does anyone attach their pouches to their armor?
4505Marcel replied to Bobik96's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Troopers do it either way, mine are sewn to the bund, but also use the Velcro tags I leave on the top to attach to the inner lip of the chest plate. Can't say I've ever noticed that the pouches restrict movement in any way attached to the bund, never heard of that to be honest -
Looking good mate, fits you very well
-
You just have to be careful when posting measurements like this, others will follow these and it may not suit or as you say be fully accurate. The title could be misleading, and knowing how it is folk won't read the part where you say not 100% accurate and jump right in

4505Marcel replied to Grimmer's topic in Lancer Deployment Request
Really it's the rivets at the back and also the drop box strap colour, your straps are off white, and your pouches are white. They need to match, I would suggest changing the straps to white, as you have to adjust them anyway. Unless you want off white then either dye or tea stain the pouches and armour side straps -
Welcome to the BS.N mate, yes special ops is where you really need to be. But no harm being a member here also, as like you say there similarities. Look forward to seeing your build
-
Cool but how did you calculate that not knowing how tall the pictured scout is?
-
I would un pick the ribbing and re do on the front mate, they are way too far apart. You are supposed to see all the lines between the pouches

My mum had an old school machine, not sure where it went when she passed away, as I would have liked it. I do sew leather and allsorts with mine

My mother swore by singer, so I got one. Burnt three out and ended up with a brother, so far the best machine I've had

One of the main issues is he rivit holding your rear drop box straps. The rivet should be hidden behind the TD tube and to not be visible, I fear you may have to buy some longer straps, Chef has mentioned he can help you with that though -

Yes everything you listed needs addressing, once you shorten the vest sleeves a touch, bring up your bicep and firearm armour. And just make sure everything is sitting square in the next set of photos you post -

How tight is the thong elastic? I it doesn't look the cod has pulled under, it could be if the elastic was tighter, it would pull the cod giving it the curve detail stitch look. Obviously don't tighten it if it is not comfortable -
Lancer Question: TD Greeblies & Tanker Top
4505Marcel replied to AtomicW's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
We the BSN decided on up, there was both seen on screen, it gets more confusing when images are mirrored and so forth. We said up just to keep us uniform and looking the same -
MC or SC - what is your preferation and why?
4505Marcel replied to Fluffy Fuzzball's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Sc can be made to fit smaller frames, we have female troopers that have done just that. Mc on the other hand looks silly in larger troopers as the scale is gone, mc is slightly more accurate. But that being said sc is improving parts all the time. -

A few things that have been brought up, your pouches want to be moved out slightly. Drop boxes want to be levelled off, there is an issue with your vest sleeves, they seem too long and are flaring quite abit. The crotch stitch arch, while it's not a chevron as it has a curve to the top, I have since tweaked my patterns to curve more. The reason I did it the way to start with just a curved top was, as it pulled round the crotch the sides would curve also, I noticed some full arches were curving way too much. It seems that didn't work for everyone though, I wouldn't fail the app for that, but it's a 5 minute job if you want to adjust it. The other thing that looks off is the cuffs on the gloves, are they the right size for you as they are huge. Might be worth running a stitch down the inside to pull them in a touch
