I put my cummerbund and racing suit in the tub with some laundry detergent, soak em up in really hot water, then stir occasionaly and let it soak overnight, then I hang dry on the shower rod. It has given me a nice distressed look on my bund and suit as some of the coloring from the suit has come off onto the bund over the years. Yay dirty!
-
He means in the back, there shouldn't be cummerbund showing below your detonator. Your bund should end somewhere behind your belt/detonator. I am also still a little hesitant on your boots, they are still a little rough and the dogbone is too wide. I'll see if I can get bluecyclone to chime in on those.

This is a picture of a screen used snout. Notice the seperate plate that the greeble is attached to, and then the plate attached to the snout of the helmet. This is MC's hollow with riser plate on my helmet.

The tru-spec looks nicer than the rothco. cucblacks suits are not accurate. A lot of people use racing suits as they are closest to the motorcycle suits that were used in the film. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Safety-Racin...-Suit,2466.html

TB 5794 Requesting Lancer Status (PENDING)
Witness replied to Jello's topic in Lancer Deployment Request
Rivet is in line with the red line on the dial, half way between the edge of the dial and the edge of the greeble. Provide a new picture of the tank topper with the rivet and a picture of you, full costume from the front please. -

hey Tony, Looks pretty good. One thing to start with, you don't have a silver rivet and washer on the top of your tank greeble: Yours: Screen Used: You are tall and skinny. I hate guys like you. I would suggest you try to pull your cummerbund and belt down a little. Your crotch looks a little tight. It's not supposed to be loose, but you shouldn't be singing soprano... -
KS makes excellent helmets, but their body armor leaves something to be desired. Proportionally, some of the sizes are off, chest and backplate are too wide. I do not discourage people from using KS, or even Atin for that matter, but I will always recommend SC or MC for the body armor.

Looking to join, questions about first armor set
Witness replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I like SC armor, but I want a new set -
The only requirement is the heal. If you choose to do the entire sole that is your call. Because of differing boots, soles and materials, it's very difficult to force people to make the exact design, I have cut myself too many times trying to add more detail than I have above.

Took 10 weeks to get my helmet from KS 2 1/2 years ago. You people with your 4 week ship should consider yourselves lucky. KS is a professional movie/TV prop company. They work full time on big jobs and do biker scout helmets and other stuff on the side. Sometimes, with changes to movie/TV schedules, people like us get pushed to the side and they don't always manage to keep contact the way we wish they would. One thing I have found in the costuming/replica prop world is patience as a buyer is always required. Real life issues, busy real life job schedules, funding, and other things that cause delays happen all the time and are often beyond the control of the artists. I have delay issues all the time, because I have a wife and two kids, an 8-5 daily job, taekwondo, church, volunteering, trooping, and then throw in unexpected things. Unless I post a 1-10 week turnaround, I'm likely to have to apologize all the time for delays, it's always better to estimate low and apologize for delays than say "yeah, that could take up to 10 weeks" and nobody want my items, even if I can make a 3 day turn around on occasions.

Good job John!

I believe RIT is available in England.

And Gator, your boots look great, but the top needs to be cleaned up. Perhaps find a friend with a sewing machine and machine sew the top so it is even. You may also want to try ironing the fold covered in a towel to get a cleaner edge.

Contact members of the Japanese Garrison and see who made their boots or where they got the materials. I'm absolutely sure some of them have canon boots. I have heard many people in Asia say they cannot get marine vinyl or duck cloth (cotton canvas), but there are members of those garrisons out there who have the materials and canon looking costumes. Just a matter of checking around some It's always a good idea to contact your local garrison before you even start your build, the garrison can be a great source of spare materials, help in building and expertise you can rely on.

Yes please, everything is about overall look. Glad to hear on the boots, regretfully, that is where I was going next, so you beat me to the punch.

I put my vinyl in the freezer at stageas during sewing. This keeps it from sticking to the feeder feet.

Also, your chestplate is riding a little high. I can see light through it from the side. It needs to come down at least an inch. The bottom of the chest and back plates should be equal distance from the ground whe standing straight. This will also fix some of your long cummerbund/tall upperbody look issues.
