You'll need to fill your pouches with something, full, but not bursting. A lot of people use foam inserts cut to size. I use foam with hollow centers to put my collector cards and my cell phone in them. Also, the stitching line at the top of the cummerbund crotch flap should be straight across the bottom of the cummerbund and ride just under the belt. There is no curved line.

This is probably one of the best photos of the patch sewing available. If anyone has something better, please post. P.S. this comes from the BSN galleries, lots of nice pictures in the reference section.

When I do black boots, I use a boot that has a suede like finish, and I have to use a LOT of Goop to get the vinyl to stick. When I glue the toe section on after trimming, I pin it in place near the sole so the pin holes will end up under the trim strip. I also have to hold the toe section down with my hand while it is drying. I make boots while I sit and watch TV, so it's just become normal to have to sit and hold the toes down while glueing and finish with Goop all over my hands. You are doing well. Most likely a bit more glue will work for you.

I make my 4 yr old daughter cut the soles now. I ran out of skin.

Email address is in here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=8569 Or you can send Moncal a PM

I had written up some instructions but had never loaded them up. I'll make up a set and post when I get a chance. I have some parts laying around somewhere, just a matter of sewing.

I was updating the membership database at the Legion level today and thought everyone might be interested in the updated numbers. Total number of people in Legion with a Biker Scout or Kashyyyk Scout Costume - 734 Total number of people in the detachment database as having requested and gotten Pathfinder status - 568 Total number of Reserve listed people (not quite retired) - 4 Total number of In Memorium Pathfinders - 1 Total number of Active Pathfinder Biker Scouts - 547 Total number of Active Pathfinder Kashyyyk Scouts - 16 Results: We have 563 Active Pathfinders in the detachment who currently can vote and have rights as a Pathfinder (whatever rights those are) We have 166 people in the Legion who are listed as Active and have a valid Biker Scout costume, but have not asked to be part of the Pathfinder Detachment. Remember, you do not need to join detachments in the 501st Legion. We are currently listed as 4th behind Storm Troopers, Imperial Officers, and Sith Lords. Realistically, we are probably actually #3 ahead of Sith Lords. I am told they possibly have a bunch of retired/reserve costumes in their count. Those are some pretty nice numbers.

Good job on the toes!

The Lonewolf Biker Scout lid
Witness replied to Cyber Scout's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
At the risk of being wrong I'll answer. I believe John intends to release them in white, this is a test pull helmet. However, because you will have to attach the parts, add some filler and sand, you are going to have to paint anyway. -
Reputable makers and quality products will always be suggested by 501st Legion members. That does appear to be a recast of a KS, or a miraculously exact copy of KS's flaws. At $275.00 plus shipping, I'd wait for your KS or order a bucket from lonewolf once they become available. Normally I ask people to not post sales links to sites without permission of the person who made the item.

I have received many PMs and questions in the last few weeks regarding the undersuit which would be acceptable to use for Biker Scout. The basic legion standards as seen in the Biker Scout Visual CRL is: This allows for Dickies and other styles of overalls with shirt style collars. However, the Lancer specification states as follows: This shows requirement for a mandarine collar or closure with turned up collars. If you wish to sew on a closure so your dickies collar looks appropriate turned up, that will work, as long as it is clean and closed and we do not see your neck. Otherwise, I can only suggest a suit with a different collar. I wear a racing suit from Speedway Motors which is the same suit worn by member loosetoon who has a post in the armory archive showing the suit in some better photos: So if you are going to buy the cheaper Dickies, overalls or flight suit, you will need to consider the collar closing before you apply for Lancer. If you don't intend to apply for Lancer, then no problem. I can also recommend the undersuit made by LadySewForUs as it is the correct style and has the correct collar.

I actually don't get a vote unless Marcel and Mike disagree.

Movie accurate is the belt has no rivets because it's a single piece, like MonCal's belt. We allow the SC belt if rivetted with white rivets or white painted rivets. We have to be a little lenient for some difference of manufacturing in the armor, otherwise nobody, even MonCal's armor would be Lancer approved. All other rivets are unpainted on the movie costume.
-
For Lancer yes. If you wish, some paint them white, others leave them silver. We do not judge those for Lancer.
-
I left the comment on weight out of my reply. Very heavy, I had to add velcro to the top of my boot connected to my undersuit leg to keep it from falling down on my leg.
-
That works, good job

That is a Polymer Armory (or recast) blaster. With the trigger off and painted, it passes muster.

Oh and the soles look great!

You're gonna need to use something like Photobucket for your photos. The google links you are using are indirectly and while they work for browsers as a web page in of itself, they do not seem to be working within the forum as a direct link. At least I can't see them, I see small white outlined boxes.
-
They do not need to be painted. You can have them either way. The only rivets that MUST be painted are those on a Studio Creations Belt holding the sections together.

Looks good so far. Suit is still baggyish. My biceps stay in place because the velcro is very tight, and I have massive pipes! ...ok, the velcro is tight...

One last note and I'll stop posting here Lancer is not about being perfect, nobody will ever get perfect. Lancer is about being as close as humanly possible. This means we have to allow items that people can easily attain to make their costumes. We allow flight suits, racing suits, dickies for undersuits when the original was a cloth motorcycle suit. I don't want people to misunderstand my opinion and think I am stating you can't use what items you want, you simply need to meet the standards which are clearly marked in the visual CRL posted on the 501st.com site.. The only time opinion comes further into play is for Lancer applications here. Lancer is handled by 3 members of the site staff here and a lot of it is personal feel and judgement, that's just the way it is. We allow MonCal and Studio Creations armor as far as I have seen in Lancer history, we've allowed MLC, KS and Altmann's helmets. We all have our opinions, which is where there are three on the team. I am somewhat vocal in my opinions and pretty hard headed. That comes from giving my opinions so many times. I'm trying to help people get the best equipment they possibly can. I don't have any preconceived notions about what is best based upon anything I sell. I make boots, but I never push my own product, I always link to Marcel and my threads. he has as much a chance as me. I know there are others out there, and they are welcome to come and advertise, MonCal's group makes boots too, but he does not advertise those here. Anyway, I hope nothing I said was taken in an argumentative or dictatorial fashion. I'm always open to quality products and allow anyone to advertise here, but be careful, if your product is not accurate, or you ask my opinion, I'm certainly going to give it to you. And for next year when I am elected, I'm going to change the Lancer specs to include pink shaded armor.. and feathers...

I use 1/8 myself. I'm trying to keep the hole in the boot between the shims as small as possible to prevent cracking out on the holster or the back support.
-
The only thing that will preclude you from getting lancer status is if it is not shaped or proportioned correctly, or the tank/back is one piece. Lancer is about appearance. I never said anywhere in my posts that fiberglass armor couldn't pass Lancer, just stuff I have seen so far could not. The MLC helmet is fiberglass and it passes. There is ABS stuff out there that does not pass. I think a feather would look cooler

I'm ok, you ok? BTW, where's your application, stop posting and get building. I need you to get your app in so I can do something Nathan.
