CAMO PATTERN - discussion for CRL
Heatshock replied to chilledmilk's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Reference Pictures
I meant uniform as in the general scheme of the costume ie colours to use, greeblies etc the whole template vs made up was discussed a while ago - and the concensus was that we went for individual interpretation as the whole CRL is up for discussion again - would you guys like to discuss this again as well? personally I came down on the 'individual side' as I quite like that aspect of costuming -
ok I admit, this was a hold back from Mr Bungles time. and also the fact that we couldnt agree to the shade of tan we were goign for there was a thread on various dying attempts by "skupinski" even on the blurry shots its tan its even on the 3D renders 2 things then: do we hold to tradition - as in the 1st few blurry shots, it was interpreted as grey better DVD adn 3D renders - it kind of looks dirty grey? maybe? shall we now change to tanned ? And we havent even begun to discuss - leather? cloth?
-
rofl no worries chilled - thats what we want; trooper willing to engage. this isnt about me; I have always championed this costume cos I truly love it I know what ever we agree on, it wont be for everyone. but at this moment in time, the more opinion the better. what I would eventually like is for all of us to haev a uniform look. One of the impressive things you see with TKs in the sea of white. The uniformity. Florida Garrison recently did a shot with almost everyone following the WIP CRL - and it looked great. No insult to those before us, as they were the pioneers of course there is 1 scene with tan, and 1 scene with kinda white from the movie. then the 3 d renders which defo look white
-
agreed boss - as with all Clone costumes - LOTS of weathering is required but like I said originally though; I know you are the DL so no offense intended, BUT its a CGI shot and very subject to interpretation, I would like to have more of the Troopers with a vested interest (ie gonna troop in it) have a say too if thats ok? I will go by what my Clone brothers want. But happy to have the CRL changed to white body with weathering HIGHLY recommended?
-
bund from the Hero Gree scene - could it just be shadowing. Oh yes it could. Or it could be 2 toned same scene - blurry and out of focus, but lends to seeing that there are possibly 2 tones beach battle scene - look at the trooper on the far left now the colour is going to be more interesting..... is it really grey or more tan with camo? here is a back shot of the bund from another scene on the beach - look at the trooper on the right - shadow or dark grey? but look back at all those pics above - can we at least agree its grey base? this was a compromise to the 3D shot where some argued it was more tan with camo on it and also on the pic supplied on the CRL re-discussion thread
-
the "not so secret" 3D renders used for the movie - scattered through various sites and posts on here over the last few years. As best I can guess, there arent any repeats to those who contributed - thanks for letting me use the pics. To the people whom I couldnt contact; lmk and I will remove the pic. Cheers.

I am going by the ref library we have in our own forums. apologies abt the quality. once blueray recaps are done, happy to review I can see only abt 4-5 scenes where you see Kashyyyk troopers on the screen. Of which only about 2 have the boots in view theres this pic - logged as screen captured on wookipedia - looks tan screen caps I can get arent great - and clearly not have that real 3D quality to the above pic, but off the same scene backshot - look at trooper at the far right; looks a dirty white

was hoping that there would be clearer blue ray pics but DVD screen caps were not bad, if we are ok to accept the quality, we could use the old gallery, which had the screen grabs stored on this forum? pics are from the 3-4 major scenes that you see teh kashyyyyk trooper - there the 'Hero' scene with Gree and Yoda. The over the shoulder shot as the droid army comes in from the sea and 1 or 2 battle scenes. In terms of the Kashyyyk Trooper, I think that about covers it? http://forum.bikersc...llery&album=140 http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?app=gallery&album=143 -

well done that man. the original CRL was left deliberately wide, along with the shoes, as those remained fairly contentious issues that we wanted to make sure wouldnt be a hurdle to new troopers coming in however, rather than just the one recommended way, it would be nice to see alternates. thanks for doing this man. Much appreciated. Nate -

rofl man , 3 months is what tony wants. there are no big boys here DR, we are a community, always have been, always will be. We wont change things without a concensus. like i said, if the community chooses to stay with the status quo as your generic and a more screen accurate version as a SWAMPER version i would be all for that. Nows the time to let us know. i quite like this idea as we can retain our current CRL which is more 3drender version and also tip of the hat to the amt of work Mr Bungle did for our community (which must mean at least as much as Tony's ex-GML status) i (mind you, i am only an kashyyyktrooper armourer, so take hat thats worth) suggest a more appropriate 18 mths. i would have chat to ur gml as well, military folk on deployment have often got special consideration. the other problem with this cossie is either time to build or time for one of the very few makers to make an item. 3 months is unrealistic. -
New trooper on the way...eventually

is that last picture a screen grab? also are these possibly all the pictures available? perhaps the shoe issue will become less of a problem. the clear shots of it looking like the kc pit crewes were from 3d renders? sorry i cant contribute as i dont have high def or blue ray -

rofl true. you gotta love this game tony, dont yer? i know. maybe someone would like to exeriment? volunteers guys? how about the canadian deserts - theres a new guy in canadian military? now with crows62 boots not only being possibly NOT available, but in white, perhaps a new boot concensus too? the only pics of the boot looking like kc pit crewes were the 3d and promo pics. although i admit that its been a while since i looked at screen grabs. -

yes i realise that as an exGML, you are used to being right all the time (and from what i heard you were a damn fine one, and were usually right). but unlike the trilogy costumes, clone stuff is often a compromise of colour, shape, material and form. also being a smallish community, i like to consult with our members as a wider body, because, a you said before everyone should, ad will have a say. what do our american brothers think about the dpm/bdu question?easily available? want to rediscuss? someone like to put something else forward? Please let us know! no tony, no insult or compliment, just repeating the implied importance in you earlier comments. and thank you, much more civil and polite. yes we are adults here Tony, lets trying acting like it can we?. yes marcel did change it. it was a well research costume even then. despite than, when the change came in, should the membership have been consulted. i think yes. but i listened to my DL. like the rules said we should. -

warning no. 1 tony. pls keep things polite and civil. we are here to discuss the crl things have changed - the last around of animated clones in animated gear had at least. 6 month grace period ie the CRL still applied 6 months from publication. that was to make it fair to all. the biker had years of research to back it up so the changes made were already known abt. what we havent even done is the research. oh the joy we had trying to determine the base coat colour. remember the base colour was based on MR Bungles interpretation of the colours on the 3d renders, NOT screen grabs. if we want a change we will indeed have to reinvent the wheel. its cos the current CRL is based off the 3d renders not the screen caps. we arent just gonna have to discuss the parts you want. nate -

the last time alone we had 6 months for members to consider.ad that was after we ad experiments on colours and shades etc now if u use your usual influence to get my current DL to force a 3 month time fame on me, i will abide by the rules and listen to my DL. cos i realise your are an exGML of the UKG and hence a very impt person -

you have to take into account 1. picture gathering - which we have only just begun doing 2. decision on what we need to change 3. once you decide you want to change the bund for instance, one tone? 2 tone, brown camo? tan camo?what kind of camo? 4. reinvestigate the bdu 5. the greebs 6. detail of the puches 7. once we agree, what about the size 8. people already in the middle of builds - remember some people are ready in the mddle of builds. for those overseas now for stance, it may be a month before thy even receive their stuff. then build itetc. remember we are a world wide audience, not just you. and not just the ukg. you want thing reconsider tony,we will. we ave to do it right. with enough time or people to discuss and agree changes. a timely schedule, not a schedule you want. remember we are change what everyone should be aimimg for, its on a scale not akin to a single garison level. also if u note i did not say more than 2 years, but at most. -

Heatshock replied to TB5994's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
Same here man, all the good ones do. I even have a bund like Tony's before upgrading I think those currently cleared should be grandfathered-in like tradition In the interest of fairness, we need time to discuss, agree and consult before we throw out the current CRL I propose a 18mth time frame. With a further 6mth grace (like when we changed the animated clone rule over on ct.net) -

Ok like I said, u know my views, so I'm not gonna argue. For a long time thre was no movement. Then came mr bungle. His scratch build of all the hard parts were based on the 3d renders. His costume build was based on the 3d renders. His build formed the basis of the current CRL If our frame of reference is changing from 3d render to screen accuracy, then I can say lots of the current CRL won't apply. So lets start from scratch again. Let the discussions begin. But nothing changes till we get consensus, agreed? If we are going to make this major change, let's rethink the bdu as well, as the British bdu is starting to get difficult to find. -

not gonna comment any more as tony knows my views on it. cgi costume regs are always contentious. they arent the same as old trilogy. kinda f the reason why i think the kashyyyk belongs back on ct.net. no other prequel variant is farmed out lie the kashyyyk is. marcel and rob - i take your point but neither of your have been in crl discussions for the prequel cossies. its a different kettle of fish. you got 3d renders, you got screen grabs, you got back ground shots, up front shots. they all change. if we pander to every individuals interpretation we wont have a standard, we would have a free for all. so the community chooses a standard to maintain. it may not be perfect, but it is what it is. the belief is that the 3d render is what the original design for the placement, colour and shape of the armour was supposed to be like. cos we all know short cuts are taken for the movie. sometimes less . detail. sometimes more colour to recreate weathering etc. we have this problem all the time w the clone crls on ct.net as well as the gm crl on 53rd FAC. to those worried. theres a huge lead time. tony has missed the boat on the current submission. there will be a discussion. summary. only if there is enough support (and thats a HUGE IF) for change, then it will be put up for further discussion. then a consultation for a further 6 to 12 months. so we are talking about prob 18 to 24months before any change. than in addition a grace period again to allow for people working off the current CRL as it currently stands. tony's pictures bring up an interesting question. he has been given clearance on those pictures. 1. wrong colour greebs on chest straps 2. wrong colour greebs in the bicep pieces 3. no back tank detail 4. wrong colour cummerbund 5. wrong placement of pouches 6. wrong colour boots now i am relatively new to the uk garrison. i have not been a GML. i have not trained the current or any GMLs. I have cleared one or two 501st costumes though. even you accepted that 1 to 3 and 5 needed changing tony. did you get clearance before or after those changes were made then? i only ask as in my limited experience, ive always been asked to resubmit before i was. you disagree with our concensus choice - i can respect that. but even with the picture you have provided, the light grey single tone 'bund doesnt match the one on that screen grab either. THAT is the point of trying to get a consensus agreement. We know the cgi piccies are inconsistent. we were trying to set a standard that we all could agree to so that everyone could sing off the same hymm sheet. it aint perfect, but it is what it is. thank you gentlemen. keep it civil. -

Rofl agreed guys. And I agree with Death Recon keep it civil. And Tony we have all seen the pictures as i said. But they are all curtailed for legal reasons. You must haven't seen them then? Even curtailed there are about 5-6 different ones. Like I said feel free to go back and review em. The community has seen em, reviewed them and agreed to a set standard. It isn't perfect, but a standard was agreed to by those that had an interest in the costume at the time the CRL was decided on. If you and your GML are happy to accept a costume that does not match the current published CRL for it, congrats to you. that I will leave between you, your GML and your CO. If you wish to change the CRL. Present it here. We will let the community decide, and I'll change if there is support and merit for it. But I am certainly NOT changing for 1 trooper what the larger community has already discussed and decided on over the last year or so. -

think the strap thing was brought up end of 2012/start 2013? http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10371&hl=&fromsearch=1 this is definately grey me thinks. but as here was no feed back at the time, i didnt change the consensus of black. as for screen grabs, no we went with the 3d models (what you call the preproduction pictures). if you go through much f the discussions over the last few years, various parts of the puzzle were available. although to my knowledge, no one complete picture has been seen. mr bungles word was good enough for me. and its been well established. -

never said mine was perfect, but at least it follows the current CRL which - I followed, not re-wrote to fit my interpretation of the pictures heres Mr Bungle's the multicam was decided on when Mr Bungle got his cleared the 1st time round way back in 2009. We just continued to use it. if you can come up with a better alternative - happy to hear about it. If you notice - his cummerbund is actually the one you are sporting, with the heavy weathering to give it that 2 tone look/shading. And yes - I know, hes got yellow in that paint scheme, but things have moved on and yellow has been removed since. as for the picture you posted - yes heavy weathering. Really. the pic you have of my bund above is to show off the multicam below PRIOR to weathering. this was my attempt to weather it after. I have since gone on heavier on the pouches and the drop boxes too. Its a combination of white, grey and black. Some brown tossed in too. as for the boot - I discussed this at length with our own garrison GML on another of my recent builds. There were tons of pictures of the costume from the SWTOR trailer. And 2 pictures of the 3D renders. The 3D renders trumped high def screen caps each time. It was felt by the moderators then that was the way to interpret it. I was happy with this. No arguments were brought up during the consultation last year. As far as I know, the current stock of CB newbies are happy with this. But we can let the community decide how we want to llook As for you suggestion about re-painting the pouches - its already in the current CRL -so both options are currently accepted "Pouches are either cloth covered and painted with camo pattern or covered with multi-cam cloth." -

the 'bund has never sat well with me. I always thought it was a single tone grey, with the slightly darker shade cos of shadows and weathering. the shoes - the pics that were shown to me were snippets of 3D renders - and are clearly white theres a great thread here abt colour testing - http://forum.bikersc...?showtopic=6025 unfortunately his CB was turned down for UKG clearance for having a tan shoe btw instead of white yeah multicam which is heavily weathered with white and grey or camo like the armour - multicam was decided on by Mr Bungle. The cloth with camo like the armour was a new development. As neither are perfect; both are accepted. we may need a new base for the undersuit, with the old 95 DPMs now discontinued.
