I think someone asked already about jango boots and they said without a very large order, they won't make them. The soles are not sewn on but pressure molded onto the leather uppers (basically melted rubber into the fabric) which costs a considerable amount of money to make. But good luck, maybe if we keep asking they will make a jango/barc/GM boot LOL
-
Yeah, we can cast the boot soles and this rubber gauntlet piece. The gauntlet piece can even be made out of flexible foam if need be... Boot soles are made out of shore 80 (strength) urethane rubber. I'm already looking into making the soles, but finding 8.5 kenneth cole shoes/boots is another thing all together to get a actual casting. The small rubber piece on the gauntlet would be very easy to replicate.

I would be more than happy to sculpt the mold for the rubber piece and make them. I would just need a rough length and width to sculpt to. Then I can cast them in urethane rubber to be applied to the leather. Does this piece need to be sewn in or can it be applied?

Mad, I simply love your ability to decipher these images !!!! You sure you didn't work on the movie ? LOL Anyway, GREAT illustration!!! Now I was wondering if the "rubber" section pic'ed above, does that run on the bottom of the forearm or the top of the forearm? ~Mike
-
I agree with Mad on this about the pad issue. I'm also not completely convinced there is a gauntlet. It could be a glove / wrist protector, what makes it "confusing" in the pics are the straps, guard and padding. It COULD be a gauntlet, just gotta stare at it more.....
-
You got that rigth MAD !!!!! It will be hard and a custom job...
-
Mad, Thanks for the color samples, I'll have to put them to work...
-
Yes, Mad we are on the same page about the vents under the goggles, I just wanted your opinion on the forehead vents above the goggles wondering if it would be a stretch to assume they were there as well without any hard evidence in the pics. I agree with you about the helmets base color, the more I look at it the more I agree it was white camo'ed by the troopers.
-
Mad, would you agree that the helmet has a white base with camo painted over it? I'd really like your opinion on this. Also, you can't see the vents above the goggle area like in the drawing from the inside on the close up cg image, but do think that "vent" is still there as well? If you think so I'll have to incorporate the vents into my helmet. Whats your take on this ? ~Mike
-
The vents on this cg pic are different and don't have the "boxey" look to them like the drawing in the insider, the vents look totally different on the pic I was ranting about that was emailed to me.

HOLY CRAP TBO438 !!!!!! I see new deatils to the Helmet, looks like tiny lines under the eye goggle area and I also can see the base helmets ARE white and appeared to be camo'ed by the BARCs. You can see areas where the camo was scraped off the helmet. Great pic of the gloves too and the belt AWESOME !!!!!!!! And the cumberbund OOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!!!!!! You - are the MAN !!!!!!!! Added, there are TWO belts one to hold the thigh pouches that hang down and one running around the cumberbun area to hold the pouches in that area. This is great TY I'm a kid in the candy store !!!!!

If you can't post it please, by all means, email it to me LOL !!! pghfett@msn.com

I have finished the chest plate sculpt, I'll be posting pics for evaluation asap for any changes. I am preparing to start the rear tank / back plate sculpt. Just so everyone here knows, I've been talking with ARMYSCOUT about working details about the fabrication of the chest and armor pieces for the future. In a nutshell, I will be making FG castings but will be sending ARMYSCOUT a model so they can be vaccume-formed by him and his folks. This way we all can benefit from getting a set good BARC armor. Myself and ARMYSCOUT have also decided to work on different sections of the armor to help speed up the process of getting a completed suit together for the Celebration! ARMYSCOUT can give more details on this as we move along, I think this is what a COMMUNITY board is for, co-operation in working towards a common goal for the benefit of all, ~Mike

the links don't work for me ?

Yes, It appears the bicept raised portion is both top and bottom sorta like the two grey pieces penetrate top and bottom. Get me? And the grey area seems to consist of two separate parts as well. Very nice so far !!!
-
Holy crap !!!!! I see something special brewing here! You must post progress pics...
-
Velcro is probably an option . The pouches swing in the movie LOL . I plan on making these hollow cast - not solid resin, that would be like hanging 2 pound weights from your belt smacking your legs to boot. Yes, these will be hollow cast with a felt back, velcro optional

The Pics in the photo area are fine, but I was wondering if anyone could "blow up" the area using software to get an accurate layout or rendition of the Tanks top greeblie area. I know Madphisto can do wonders in this area and perhaps someone else could dig up a nice draft of the tanks top. I don't have the skills to do this and need some help. ~Mike

I've begun a preliminary scaled pencil overlay of the BARC pouches and thigh boxes. Can anyone get me some good "refined" pics of these items? I know a few folks here are able to take the listed potot album pics and make them better and larger. Any help in this area (madphisto ) would be a great help. I've also started another topic to get some input on the BARC tank top detail plate to start kicking around the idea of what the greeblies look like.

I did some clean up and made a little progress on the chest plate. I have also decided to sculpt the rear plate and bulge at this time for symmetry issues and scale issues are more easily resolved at this time, plus we can all see the pics and make any changes we find needed and acceptable. On to the pics, The chest plate is and will not be as flat as the BARC seen with Gree, it also will not be as "thick" on the bottom as seen on the sculpt, this angled edge can be reduced as needed. PLEASE PASS ON SOME FEEDBACK good, bad or otherwise as I go along. ~Mike

ArmyScout, TY so much for the review!!!! I'm glad you liked the helmet. I work really hard on each and every helmet and refuse to send out a poor product. Before I send one out I ask myself would I find this product acceptable if someone sent me this". If you figured in my time on each bucket at it's current cost, I am making nothing on them, they are for us BARC (and SW) freaks LOL.... I also want to say this is OUR helmet here at the boards. We all had imput in this helmet, alot of advice was passed onto me and I used it. WE are the only ones treding this unknown ground with the BARC (feels like we are building the death star in secret) and at C3 or stuffs gonna rock !!!!!! The BARC for me is a labor of love for the character. The symmetrical issues probably are largely inpart due to my lack of expierence in sculpting helmets, this was my first helmet I ever sculpted and BOY did I pick a hard one to start out with. Sometimes when you stare at something for so long you don't notice the obvious, LOL. Anyway, with the art work abilities of the people I have met here, I'm sure the helmet will be taken to a new level of completion. Use the helmet as a base to work off of and enjoy yourself in it's construction. As an addded note, ArmyScout PM me your paypal so I can reinbuse you for the shipping difference of $10.00 and on Monday I'll be mailing out your Gree Chromed Green Visor tint. TY AS again if you need anything I'm just a pm away, Oh, yeah, and best of all I don't hold peoples money "hostage" for months on end as seems to be the big complaint as of late and I will always answer emails and Pm's

Mad, I was hoping you would chime in on this... You are exactly right, and you said it way better than me lol . It was the same issue with the helmet. Once again CG and real life don't mix, so-to-speak. The chest sculpt above actually runs along that chest/rib line I was talking about, it can be made narrower "looking" by utilizing or reducing the chest area via the angle at the bottom. Thanks Mad, your imput on this will be very very helpful.
-
Your completely correct, the BARC images vary considerably....The GRee BARC appears very thin. The bottom of the scultp appears to follow the chest curve under the pecks and angles up to the front from this area. I guess we will have to find a happy medium..... ~Mike
-
I have begun sculpting the chest plate, this is a very preliminary and partial sculpt so far. I'm just roughing in the sculpt at this point. Looking at it so far you will see that it is "thick", this is to get it up to size for my chest. The armature is smaller in build than me but is good in length The first thing I noticed about the chest plate is that it is curved on the bottom - not straight across and it is angled. second, the chest plate is smaller that the Biker plate. Also the side section of the chest plate will be extended further(knowing its short) Any input is welcome on this as I rough in the sculpt...

Right out of the bottle using a #1 red sable brush and a 5/0 sable I put a ton of work into the helmets visor. Prep work prior to painting is everything. A friend suggested making frisket templates, I said "your nuts" for this type of camo job it has to be hand painted, plus it is kinda of the artists signiture, no helmet will be the same. Just like in the real world face painting and camo painting refelects the personality of the individual. I don't mind painting camo but you may consider painting your own patteren because it will have to match the rest of your armor as well.
