  1. He's looking for the Kashyyyk Trooper cummerbund. That's why he's in the Kashyyyk Scout Soft Armor category. (oops... ) ( **Edit** I didn't know that LadySewForUs stopped making these. I just read the other posting. Oops on my part! ) If you are looking to do it yourself, check the Kashyyyk Trooper CRL's, different pictures of the cummerbund, and other people's builds, to see what the end result will look like. For mine, I used a medium to dark grey suedecloth material. I think a heavier material would be just as good. For the straps, I used grey nylon straps that I got from the fabric store. I believe they are either 1" or 1 1/2" in size. They will all come out slightly different, with the different people making them.
  2. No, the British camo is not acceptable for the gauntlet. http://forum.bikersc...?showtopic=9409 (Link to the Kashyyyk Trooper CRL's.) It was agreed upon that the color for the gauntlet is brown. There is quite a bit of shadow play in the movie. Remember, we are dealing with a CGI character and not a tangible costume prop. "Canon" for any character from the movies.
  3. Hey there "New Guy!" How ya been?? Welcome back to Kashyyyk!
  4. Out of curiosity, how many KT's does it take to comprise a unit? (Or even a squad...)
  5. Wow! Thought we lost you in the swamp. Pouches look real good. Keep it going!
  6. Yeah, we love ya Chex! *cough, cough**.....**ahem**....patches....need...exclusive...C VI....Pathfinders....patch...**cough...cough....oops!!** **gasp....wheeze**...I see a light at the end of the tunnel....I think it's the train coming the other way.....** Keep in contact with me, bro! Cheers! Yeah, we had a boo-boo for communications on the group pic. Eh, things happen. Managed to get the "Camo Army Guys" together for a few shots. We also had a few good pics with Commander Gree. I know there are other pics out there. It's hard to take them while your whole family is wearing Kashyyyk Trooper armor!
  7. Great pics Kevin and Denny! Looking good as always Kevin. Get that armor back from overseas, Denny! Great to meet Major Payne from the Redback Garrison. Always great to see you again, Tom! Not too many words from me. (Didn't wanna leave. ) I wish I was still in Florida! Thanks to my wife (RN Jedi), son (Havok), and daughter (Actress), for being Kashyyyk Troopers! (A happy Kashyyyk Family.) For the main 501st pic, we had 7 Kashyyyk Troopers and 1 Commander Gree. Not bad at all. (I was hoping for more. We did have quite a few people that I met that are on their way to being Kashyyyk Troopers.) A bit later we ended up with 6 Kashyyyk Troopers, 1 Commander Gree, 1 Luminara Unduli, and 1 Barriss Offee, for the Kashyyyk group photo. (Even found the tiny Kashyyyk backdrop waaaaay in the back of the con, near the RL Table.) Hello again to BroodingVentress! Keep in contact! (Loved the animated Asajj and your husband's Savage Opress. Very cool! ) To Kevin W. (Awesome Special Ops) and Tim McCoy (Outstanding Darth Maul.) It was a pleasure to meet you two. I hope to stay in contact with the both of you! See you guys somewhere in the Swamp! Grumpy out!
  8. I was informed by our GML that Alex's Kashyyyk Trooper was approved! He is # 24. (Sheesh!! I'm done for awhile...)
  9. Just to let everybody know...I am no longer making gloves. I have five sets of black gloves and plenty of brown gauntlet material, but I do not have the funding to make the mold for the glove greeblie or the material for the actual greeblie, and really don't have any more interest in doing so. I still have five pouch sets for sale, and enough khaki material to make maybe five more, and then I'm done with that. For those that got the gloves sets and pouch sets that I had made, I thank you, and I hope you enjoy them. "Keep on troopin!"
  10. The "current" CRL's state that it is a "grey riding patch on the inner thighs." I have seen grey leather, grey pleather, and other materials used. I used grey suede for all of the riding patches that I have made. One was even just plain grey material. I haven't seen anything written in stone about what the material should be made from. Mainly the leather look is a good suggestion. As long as it is as close to the screen character as possible. Remember, we're working with CGI characters. And with the Kashyyyk Trooper, one second it looks tannish-grey and then in the shadows it looks dark grey or some other color. Grey was the agreed upon color for the riding patch. And it is all one piece. (As seen the above "Flying Kashyyyk " screen cap.) Try the neoprene if you like. See how it looks. (Nothing shiny, though. Kashyyyk's don't want to reflect light.) I would say try what you have and post it up. Get an opinion from other people. And the "bunching" in the crotch area happens with any material. It's a real pain in the butt to sew that one-piece riding patch into an area that won't work with you. The material from the pants will want to bunch up underneath the riding patch. Be careful when you sew it on. After you do, move around a bit and do some squats with the Kashyyyk pants on. If the material is bunched too tight, you will pop the seams. It's almost a trial and error. For some people it might work with the first sewing. Just see what happens. And good luck! And Drew, For the bicep greebs, I used grey primer from a spray can. It seems to stay on and flex with the rubber. And I used E-6000 to hold it to the bicep. (Patience comes heavily with the greebs and biceps.) I ended up making my own inner greeb for the left bicep. I made my wife's and my son's out of a couple pieces of craft foam stacked on top of each other to give thickness. And then coat it with the grey primer and it should fill in the seam between the two pieces. Just a suggestion to make things a little easier. Another alternative would be a piece of rubber, say from a sleeve connector for a plumbing project. (Not really sure how to describe that one.) But the rubber greeb that came with the kit really puts up a fight, so I tried something else. Hope this info helps a bit.
  11. PM sent.
  12. Okay, I did a little more work on Alex's Kashyyyk. Added the rubber "O" pieces to the boot toppers. Got the shins, biceps, and the back/ tank piece put together. They all need to have bondo and sanding done. Chest piece is painted. Elbows are painted. Boots are modded and painted. One has the topper attached. Still have to attach the other one Pouches and belt are done and attached to the cummerbund. Still have to add the buckle and drop pouches. Have to make the straps for the chest and back connection. As well as the shoulder bells. And the straps for the elbow pieces. Whew! Sorry no pics. I stopped making the pouch sets to finish this. (Not sellimg as well as I had hoped.) I forgot how much I had to do on it. Plus, with Alex taking summer courses at college, it's hard for me to have him try stuff on for a fitting.
  13. For the "squarish-rectangle" parts of the rubber belt, I used a permanent black marker. I know someone else had found a paint that worked, but I can't remember who it was. I also can't remember what MrBungle had used. (My memory is shot.) On my belt, on the first try, I used a paint that cracked and chipped, and I had to scrape it all off and start over. (Waaaay back in 2009.) People use different things. I found that the marker works best for me. As for the belt, I just left it that grayish-green rubber color. Once some of the pouches are attached, they cover parts of the belt anyway.
  14. Looks good!
  15. Ya see that, kids?? There will soon be two styles (again) of Kashyyyk armor. Old School "PGHFett style" and New School "MrB style." So, c'mon and get ready for more Kashyyyk Troopers. I've got hats to give out. O.S.C.S armor rocks!! And now he's going to add his touch to the Kashyyyk! Awesome!! You go, Kevin!! And since both new makers (Susie and Kevin) have the permission from the original makers to continue with the armor propcess, you know what we say to the illegal recasters...........   (It would probably be censored anyway!) Cheers!! It's a great day!
  16. Those are actually snaps. The cod piece will snap to a belt that holds up the pants. Then the cummerbund and rubber belt just sit on top of the codpiece. I did the same thing with mine and my wifes.
  17. Okay. here's a complete set of pouches. (I know this is the gloves section, but I'm hi-jacking my own thread. ) I have two sets for sale in this thread: http://forum.bikersc...?showtopic=9572 See ya!
  18. Well, I have no idea what happened to the pictures from the other posts. Not much has happened lately. Been busy with work and trying to get the gloves going again. But, every now and then, I'll do a few things. Here are some of them. One of the first sets of gloves that I made. The experimental phase. (I still need to weather these!) Pouches Tank topper and bicep greeblies Helmet Knee armor Shoulder bells Boot / toe armor Cod piece Drop pouches. One with straps and d-rings and one without straps. That's about it for now. Still have to assemble the biceps, shins, and the back piece / tank.
  19. Okay, kids. Here's what's happening. I have the master for the glove greeblies. However, I do not have the funding to get the supplies to make more. Sooooo, I made two sets of the pouches. They are made from khaki colored duck cloth canvas. They are fully functional. (You can put stuff in them.) They have pieces of foam in them to keep the shape, but those can be taken out for use. The flaps of each pouch is kept closed with velcro. And each pouch has velcro sewn to the back, plus the other part of the velcro to sew to the cummerbund. Not every pouch will look the same. (It gets crazy after awhile of making these.) I sewed these myself, so they are not factory made. (Wearing out the sewing machine!) There are: 8 short pouches 4 tall pouches 2 small pouches 2 large back pouches 2 drop pouches (Complete with d-rings and brown or tan leather straps. When available.) These could optional. So, that's 18 pouches. I made the drop pouches because I don't know whether the new armor maker will make pulls of the current style. I will have two sets of the khaki colored available soon. I will also make two sets of the multi-cam pouches. I have the material, I just need to make them. (But I believe the drop pouches should still be khaki for this set.) It takes a bit of time, because I can get burnt out quickly. For the khaki sets, all you would have to do is add your camo patterns, weather them, and sew the other part of velcro to your cummerbund. For the multi-cam, just add weathering and sew the velcro to the cummerbund. NOTE: These are NOT completed yet. When I get them finished, I will post them in the Trade Forum, here on BSN. I made these in hopes that someone will need a set. The funding I get from these will help me buy the materials to make the glove greeblie, and get back to making gloves. I am not taking orders or will have a list. I made them because I had the material, and hopefully, this is a way for me to continue to make gloves. I hope you all understand. Soooo, here's a teaser pic of the khaki pouches. (No drop pouches yet. It does take some time.) Thanks for looking. Grumpy!
  20. ....show-offs. one of us...one of us...one of us...one of us...one of us...
  21. Does this make it canon? (Just kidding - having a little fun.) That does it. I'm getting out my white spray paint!
  22. Hey Drew, Post some pics of those solid silcone pieces. And the resin helmet shroud greeblies. Maybe with seeing those, I could tell you if you can make them work, or find an alternate piece for them. Plus, post a pic of the belt, and any pieces that might go along with it. Sounds like you might be missing a few pieces. We'll help you get it together.
  23. The toe armor appears to be on the wrong feet. They are different for the left and right foot. Check it out and see if they would fit better on the opposite feet. And Jimah is correct, slide the toe armor forward a bit. No part of the white of the boot should be showing. And add some weathering to the armor and the gloves! That's just waaaaay too clean! Insgesamt sieht Ihr Kashyyyk Kavallerist sehr gut aus! Gut gemacht, mein Freund! (I hope that translated properly.)
  24. Looks great, Michael. Big difference from the green shade that Angelo had. Yeah, that fiberglass can be heavy. I know that velcro is the preferred method to hold the shoulder bells down, but I always have the fear that mine will come unsnapped from the top and fall off and crack. Those screen caps really don't define it either. And the cgi stills of the KST itself, are just that...cgi. Doesn't transfer well into reality for us. If you want to keep the straps for the shoulder bells, I would suggest changing it to a darker color to blend in with the dark brown camo. Others, like myself, use black elastic. One thing...the helmet does not have the "Kashyyyk fishhook" symbol on the right side. It appears only on the left side of the helmet. Your helmet has it on both sides. But, overall, well done! Way to revive Angelo's armor.
