Hey Skip, How have you been? How's it coming with your Kashyyyk Trooper? Any word on your acceptance yet?

Welcome James!! Always good to know that there's a future KST in the works!!

Gloves, gloves, gloves...Kashyyyk, that is.
Grumpy replied to Grumpy's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
The pads on the top of the glove are grey. It was what I found that I thought was most suitable for the project. I used a flash, plus had the light coming from the window. But they are grey. I plan on weathering them to get them a little dirty. -
I'm about dead tired of making Kashyyyk Trooper gloves. I just did a pair for a friend that's currently making a Kashyyyk Trooper. I've also made a set for my wife. (You might have already seen them in the build thread for her Kashyyyk Trooper.) And I made a set for my daughter, because I'm making a mini-Kashyyyk Trooper costume for her. And then I made a set for my son. He already has a Shocktrooper, but also wants to be a Kashyyyk Trooper, also. (He's worn my armor before, so now he wants his own.) Plus, I made a new pair for myself. I thought it was time for an upgrade, and to make it more accurate. Anyway, here's a pic of all of the gloves together. From left to right, they are: My friends, my son's, my daughter's, my wife's, mine, and my first set. Below them are parts for another set. All of the glove greeblies were made by Acrylikhan. Thanks Frank. They got some real good use!

Got mine, too, Frank. Thanks again!

Looking real good, Darren!

Fun, isn't it? The helmet was my favorite part to work with.

(Now, remember, this is what I see on my computer screen.) The brown looks good. The olive green looks real close. Maybe lighten it a bit, also. The base color just doesn't look right. The "rotting flesh" color, seems to have a little bit of yellow to it. (Gotta love that name. "Rotting flesh" ) And....Merry Christmas, Darren! Hope you enjoy your armor!

Looks great, Kevin. OUTSTANDING!!!
-
Add one more to the Kashyyyk ranks! Congratulations Kevin, well done.

Not too bad. Looks like it has a good high arch to carve out. And don't forget to paint it white and keep the tan soles. Have fun with the Dremmel.

SWAMP THING!!! SWAMP THING!!!

Well, just got the word........ APPROVED!!! CB-4314 on active duty!

Witness already beat me here with a good pic. So, I have this: Wookiees............*sheesh*

Tom, that was one of the things that I forgot to do. The next day we took this to a troop. I already had the velcro on there, but forgot to put the sides together under the arms, for the pics. As soon as I did that, it pushed the tank up, moved the chest piece down, and eliminated the gaps. No problem. And I got the helmet decals. Thanks. I did mist all of the armor and pouches with some black and white to get it dirty looking. The flash from the camera blew it out. It's there, though.

DONE...finally! *whew* Just awaiting approval.

Pocket and flap look good. Just watch the positioning. It looks a little low. The thigh pouch will end up between the drop pouches that hang from the belt and the knee armor.

kashyyyk trooper/pathfinder 501st shirt discussion.
Grumpy replied to mrbungle's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
CircularGreen Beret Tears Circular badge, and the Tri-Badge! (But without the little ' after the K in Kashyyyk.) And add a little camo coloring to the helmet. -
Those boots look great, Darren! You'll need to put on the shins first. Slide them up as high as you can go, above your calf. Put on your boots, and then slide the shins back down. With the shins being one piece, that seems the only way.
-
The big center arch looks good! Those shoes are a little different from mine. I don't have the two little vent holes in the side. The little arches in the tread look good also. Keep it up!
-
They don't look too bad. There seems to be plenty of room on the back of the hand to put the knuckle pads on. Remove that black elastic strap around the wrist, but save the little buckle part. It could come in handy when you add the gray strap around the same wrist area. And take off the little pieces with the metal loops. Those don't need to be there. And then add the brown gauntlet part with the greeblie to the back of the glove. It looks clean. Nothing extra on it. Not bad. Just my two cents worth.

What MrBungle has come up with and what most of the current Kashyyyk Troopers have followed as a basis for this costume is the following link: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=5025 Remember that this character is based off of a CGI character. There is no "definitive" specific item for each part of the costume. Most of the pieces are created by a handful of people or by the ones making their costume. All parts, thusfar, have been discussed over the past few years, and agreed upon by those that currently have one and are a part of the MOD Staff for the Kashyyyk Troopers. (See MeBungle or Lonescout.) I have only had mine for almost a year and a half. I'm still learning. This is a very young costume, but it has good references and great results, as seen in the current Kashyyyk Troopers' costumes. So, until it is a "definate" CRL, the current guidelines are what we go by. Tom can correct me if I am wrong. We can try to answer any questions that you have, but I also suggest reading past build threads and the different sections of the Kashyyyk Trooper area. (I.e: Kashyyyk Scout Armor, Soft parts, Weapons, Boots, etc.) The few, the proud, the Kashyyyk Troopers...are increasing!!

Boots....done. Almost there.....

The vertical straps that I have on mine and my wife's cumberbund are 1 1/4" wide. The garrison belt that goes horizontally is 2" wide.

Alright then, more stuff done. Decided to make my own drop pouches. Based them off of the design that DaVe came up with a long time ago. I used a plastic for sale sign, cut it up and folded it into shape. It looked o.k, but had trouble holding shape. So, I made them out of metal for sale signs, wrapped them in a tan canvas-like material, folded them up, painted them, and then painted the camo, gave them a little weathering, and added the d-rings. Tried to get some pics when I remembered. (Just wanted to get the things done.) And since those were done, I finished the cumberbund. That's my cumberbund in the background. And then I added a little bit of weathering to the cumberbund. Not much more to go.
