I beleive the 3-D renders where put up as a "reference" not an official CRL. Even I wanted to see these "secret" 3-D pictures. END OF LINE

Okay. I like this one. i don't care if it's 3D or whatever. The glove pads and strap look a bit tannish, but the gauntlet greeblie is almost the same grey as the bicep greeblie in the same pic. Don't get me wrong. I'm still for grey on the pads, but the owner could always do their own level of weathering.
-
Kevin (KWDesigns) had posted a pic to where he says the knucle pads and wrist strap appeared to be slightly tan. (Yeah, here we go with another grey vs. tan thing.) I believe it is somewhere in the Kashyyyk Gloves threads. Or is this another shadow playing around?

CAMO PATTERN - discussion for CRL

"Side boob"... Man, this is a great day! I just got an upgrade on my internet connection, so I'm all over the Kashyyyk section right now. "Boo-yah!!"

Aw, you're killing me Zack. How about "It looks good?" Not like an overdone steak. (Or an ugly baby..."bless its heart!") -
CAMO PATTERN - discussion for CRL
Grumpy replied to chilledmilk's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Reference Pictures
My "pattern" is the one I based off of my Kashyyyk. I just kept using it on the other Kashyyyks that I built. It's hard to get exactly what's on the screen, due to shadows and movement. You still want to have the base tan show through and not overload it with the olive and brown. When you add some misting with a little bit of black and white (and sometimes tan) spray paint, it dulls down the dark colors. My thoughts are that the troopers painted the camo themselves, so each one will be similar, yet different. That's where we CAN say "as close to the screen cap as possible." I think that everyone will have their own interpretation of the "patterns." Also, with what I've seen from the other troopers out there, I say "well done." Not mad at anyone for their paint jobs. If you are unsure, just post a pic and ask for opinions. That's why we are here. And our opinions are not the final decision, they're just an opinion. -
Cummerbund - oh boy, here we go again
Grumpy replied to Heatshock's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Reference Pictures
I would still like input from the other Kashyyyk Troopers. I know not eveyone gets on here. That's why it might take a little bit to get other opinions. We still need them to be a part of this. All input and opinions will help move this decision process along. So far, those that are on here say "at least a base grey" for the cummerbund. And...weathering! Correct or not? If I'm wrong with this, please note it here or on one of the main Kashyyyy threads. -
I still hate all of the different shadows that are in the screens shots. The troopers are always on the move. I like the 3D shot to show the shape and flap detail. I think it's okay to use as a reference. I also think that the pouches are a base tan with the camo paint detail that's on the armor. (Matching.)

What's your weather like out in OK? It sucks here. Can't get anything above the mid 40's. Can't do any painting in my garage at all.

Whoa, whoa, whoa....it seems that it's being brought up. We're working on it. -

That last part is just soooo wrong on many levels. How about grey with sandy, rusty, muddy weathering?? -

Hey Allan, if you can, post a pic of what the CadPat looks like first. I'd like to see each style before they get dyed. -

Okay, on to the undersuit... I still think that the British DPM's are the "as close as we can get." (Yes, I can say that and I just did.) In the screen shot of the Kashyyyk being blasted away and another where the Kashyyyk Troopers are going away from the camera angle, the dark designs on the clothing matches the Briitsh DPM's. IMO. Yes, there are still some available after-market on that "auction site." And some people in the military might still have access to some. Since the British military stopped using them, if I am correct, they might be "endangered.' But, I think not. I've used the after-market style for my wife's Kashyyyk, and actual British DPMs for my son's. After dyeing them dark brown, the after-market will have a little bit of purple hue in it. But, that's from the brand of dye. It still had a good dark color to it. Another option could be Canadian military issue. I don't know what the color or style would be called. (Perhaps Darth Recon could advise us with any info.) But, it is also dark enough, especially after dyeing it. There is still a camo pattern in it, but not as close as the British DPMs. As far as the U.S. Desert issue. I really don't like it. (Just my opinion) What camo patterns are in it don't match the size in the screen grabs. Plus, there is a small dark parts in the camo that I've seen that just don't look right. I haven't had a set to dye them dark brown to see what they would look like. Has anyone tried U.S. Desert style yet? If so, post a pic and we'll see what each other thinks. The CRLs don't specifically say "British DPMs." It says, "Jacket and pants or jumpsuit with the correct (or as close as possible camouflage pattern)." Maybe not everyone has acces to British DPMs, or they cannot afford it. (Overseas shipping charges have gotten ridiculous.) It's a suggestion because of the camo pattern on the clothes that makes it look very close to the images on screen. Anyone, whether already approved or not, can offer their comments, opinions, or alternative possibilities here. We need input from different viewpoints. -
Gloves, gloves, gloves...Kashyyyk, that is.
Grumpy replied to Grumpy's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper Soft Parts
Once again. I am not making gloves. I do not have anymore of the glove greeblies. So, it's on hold until I figure out what to do. Sorry. (Just a little update.) -
I never even thought to see if Hobby Lobby would have ABS plastic. The small glue bottle is called "Extreme Power" (Thick). It has a yellow label and yellow cap, and is 1 oz. Apparently it's made by Hobby Lobby. I am experiencing a big problem with Photobucket, so I can't post any pics. Here's a link to what the bottle looks like: http://shop.hobbylob...dhesive-238410/

I use E-6000. It's seems to work pretty good. Do you have a store called Hobby Lobby anywhere near you? They have this great glue used for plastic models. That stuff bonds almost instantly. (Glued two of my fingers together with it. That lasted most of the day.) It's made pretty much for plastics only. I'll find the bottle I have here and get the name of it. And, if you can find a store that sells the ABS plastic in small sheets, try to find some of that. The thinner plastic, like the for sale sign, won't be as sturdy.

I'll join this "happy" conversation tomorrow. I have a lot to comment on about the above postings. Concerning the British DPM, Canadian issue, and not too sure about our U.S. style. This is turning out for some good, I guess. No need to rush things, or make them last forever. If you are already approved, then leave it at that. We, who are already approved, need to look forward and help those that are in their builds. And with that, if you are in your build, just keep building and check these pages for any potential changes. We will be here for any questions...right guys?? I will say this, though...whatever happened in the past in the UKG...KEEP IT IN THE UKG!! Not on this Detatchment page. I could really care less who was a GML or whatever. We are a world-wide detachment and we are expanding. Until then...Tony and Nate really need to take a "time out." Stop wagging your fingers at each other and shut the hell up already. If you want to do that, send a PM to each other. Keep it off of here. Remember, people other than Pathfinders have public access to see these forums. So, calm it down and assist, not attack. So, will the currently approved Kashyyyk Troopers have to change anything, or are they "Grandfathered" in already? I've changed a few things on mine over these past few years to catch up on my "upgrades" because mine was approved back then (2009) and then we discovered new found ideas and reference pictures, so will more changes be required? Are we going to go down the route like the recently discovered Blu-ray pics for the Biker Scout and change the CRL's yet again? The Kashyyyk CRL's are not "carved in stone" as some would put it, but are still listed as a "work in progress." Well, it seems that the work is continuing. Let's see what happens now. I haven't been pushing and promoting this costume for over the past three and a half years for nothing. I don't think it will be final anytime soon, but we can work on it TOGETHER, right? -
Aw crap! Woodchuck does amazing work. You've got a good one there. The DC's are an option, not required for approval. I did think that the above picture looked a little funny and not 1:1 scale. However, when you get accepted as a Kashyyyk Trooper, with whatever Garrison you will be in, check with your GML and even the CO or XO. Well, I just saw the above post....uh, "what Marcel said!"

Gloves look good Zack. Well done.

New trooper on the way...eventually

And you'll have to be able to pull it up high enough to put your boots on. Then check to see if it will slide over the top of your boot and cover the "lace" area. -
The DC-15 Carbine Blaster and DC-15 Rifle are NOT required to have your Kashyyyk Trooper approved. No weapon is needed at all in the application process. If you do get one, it must visually meet the guidelines of the weapons shown at the bottom of this 501st link: http://www.501st.com...ashyyyk_trooper So, don't waste your money on that one.
