actually there kits are no wait ... they ship within the week of purchase. i have ordered 5 kits from them at various times ... the 5th one was a month delivery due to the customs paperwork missing from the box. so far the kits seem to be pulled with a certain quantity being made each time ... this new available batch is run #3 for the biker scout kit. first run they did i got the second and third from the last one available. it took them about a month to restock when the last one was sold. and with run #2 i got the last one and within a couple weeks(less than a month) run #3 was available and the kits where back in stock. they also build the kits for customers which is where the waiting begins and the misalignment of the visor happens anyways, look forward to seeing your RS build .. good luck!

congrats on owning an rs helmet the gap doesnt look to bad ... and you may even be able to have no gap depending on what size it is now. it all works of the visor/faceplate width. if you need help with it just ask. a few of us around here have built a couple of them or them more

congrats ... looks good! and no need to black out more of the helmet. for my helmets i do what the screen used helmets have and it works just fine... a piece of 4"x6" gaffers tape inside the helmet at the ear section

The Ultimate Armor Comparison Thread!
762s replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
i think the new cfo/strider armor with an rs prop masters helmet pretty much nails it... -

there is nothing posted telling exactly whats is required for pics. since your not a member yet, i dont think you can see this post??? http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=17681 ?? it just says "Make sure to include clear build images" most applicants post: ~ front, back and sides -- then all those again with arms up ~ pics of elbow armor greeblies ~ top of tank ~ boots - front, back side with tape measurement on the velcro ~ blaster - all angles ~ tape measurements of all the strapping/belt ~ pics of cummerbund/cod separate ~ pics of suit ~ helmet pics, front, back, sides -- pics of something in ears showing they are open ~ you also need to list your parts -- ie: ~ blaster = dvh ~ boots = self made ~ suit = stephs ~ armor = chef ~ ect.ect.ect. edit .. found this bit of info too... here ---> http://forum.bikersc...showtopic=15994 "All applicants are required to submit photos of each aspect of their armor displaying each of the required components so that they may be judged by the review committee made up of the DL, XO and Lancer Review Team."

helmet being several pieces youll be adding bondo or similar to it and paint ...so it doesnt need to be shiny. being made of thicker plastic is nice though, youll want that for a helmet. my rs helmet is thicker than my cfo armor too ...
-
depends on your gml really .. but, you should give him/her all the pics needed. front, sides, back and duplicate those views with your arms up. and details of the tank top. they wont need more than that. for lancer the review board here at the detachment will want alot more pics, pics with measurements of all your straps, detail pics of helmet, blaster, boots and more

your getting closer since your going for lancer let me add: ~ adjust your flak vest arms -- they are to long. 1 or 2" past the shoulder bell is all you need for the flak vest arm length ~ elbow armor needs to come up too and to add a different way to attach cod/bund/vest ... i have a different settup than others use around here. it has do with my flak vest being shorter than theirs. i attach my cod to the flight suit front and on the back for the elastic strap i added velcro to the front and back of the flak vest to attach the cummerbund -- kinda making it 1 piece my belt is secured on the cod with velcro on the front only i had to add an extra section to the top of the cod due to me having to rebuild it to get it to look more like what was on screen flight vest flak vest

adding some pics for the thread(photobucket bombed above) ... more are welcomed if you all find them im sure you can add the slits ... its interesting, i might end up doing this myself credits to ~ studiocreations and starwarsscreencaps and other(s)

looking good! just remember the forearm armor goes outside the glove.

bring the back armor up ... and drop your front armor a little. use some tape for the bride area, you made need to trim a little of the shoulder bridge armor off to get them to line up properly. you belt will also come up alot ... it does not sit on your hips bring the drop boxes around to the sides some more and youll want about a 2" gap from belt to drop box for the belt attachment and strap for the rear heres how i did mine. i got the belt velcrod in place in the back. glued velcro on the inside of the drop boxes and sewed velcro to the end of the straps. riveted the strap to the outside of the velcro area on the belt with the velcro on the ends of the drop box strap and on the inside of the drop boxes ... it makes things alot easier to adjust.
-
i tried to sew with sticky back velcro ... not good for the needle, it breaks and gets gummed up. i threw away all my sticky velcro and went with all sew ... even for plastic areas, i just used e6000 to attach the velcro. i also, didnt like the way the sticky back velcro had little attachment to itself when velcro'd together ... it was very easy to peel the separate parts of the velcro away from each other.
-
i cut a small slit in the fabric and used fray check to stop the fabric from fraying/separating and then slid the zipties through.
-
different ways to go about it.. i did velcro on the armor bridge. and then sewed togethered a strip of velcro for the armor to keep it secured and in place then... i sewed the opposite side of the velcro to the fabric bridge and wrapped it around with more velcro on the fabirc to attach itself too

weve been doing it wrong the whole time?
-
your drop boxes are on the wrong sides!
-
looking good... here is what i see: ~ elbow armor needs to be rolled around to the front abit. ~ drop boxes need to sit more to the side. ~ belt needs to come up to the bottom of the pouches ~ the pouches look a little to big but, may be alright ~ the pouches need to sit past the last stitched line on your cummerbund about 1 inch ~ need more cutouts/notches on your boots. cutouts/notches all the way a around the sole ~ either your knee armor or boots need adjustment, knees need to come up or the boot shafts needs shortened cant really see a shoulder bridge to shoulder bell attachment ... do you have this? get the new cummerbund and cod piece pictures posted and lets see where your at with them. pretty easy fixes though, good luck going for lancer!

glue it .. unless you want to mod it to be screen accurate

Ziptied Shoulder Bells: A tutorial
762s replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
a pronounced black line?... yeah, that would be called a shadow we can clearly see another shadow running up the shoulder armor and going up the middle of the shoulder bridge and it rounds off onto the flight suit (see pic below). so, where would black zip ties be getting a reflection from when its in the shadow of the shoulder bell? if the zipties are catching a reflection then the area around them (esp. the armor) would be catching the same reflection and we wouldnt have the shadow on the armor being so defined. maybe, they are rubber bands, wire or maybe its a dried up piece of fern leaf that got stuck in the shoulder when they where zooming about the forest floor of endor and i guess the other side of the scout is catching a reflection on the black zip tie too? the right side is horrible ... omg, whats going on there, that looks all sorts of out of place -
the major difference is the angle of the visor ... then the snout is another difference.

could you post a pic ? i saw some old telephone cable that was kinda square .. it was brown though and brittle. im still researching this to remake a new td
-
sure, post some pics i have noticed the screen pics dont look as if the wire is wrapped as tight as i did mine.
-
i know, and i agree with you there .. that has been my dilemma with the command and this costume. how did the all black scout come to be in the crl? seems to me it has alot to do with some personal preferences of what the command at that time wanted to see as a scout. needless to say i dont agree with some of there opinions on the crl and it is one reason i havent gone for specialist with that costume as well, im asking for changes in this costumes crl. there is just to many inconsistencies with what we see and what the crl says. and i think the toy was released 2009 ... thats what my comic 2 pack figures box has for a date

thanks! i used the electrical cable method to wrap this td (i saw in striders lancer build/stickied)... problem was the paint wouldnt stick to the wire. i ended up taking some ca glue and wiping it on and off the cable to create a layer of something the paint would adhere too. im still after a product for the cable ... plus, the wire, water tube is heavy .. not liking that aspect .. so, i will be remaking this at some time. still researching wire or similar product for this.
