exactly what chopper said about the blades ... i alternated between the 2 blades styles as well.

well, theres a few to think about with a costume. what are you trying to accomplish with it? do you want to get basic approval and troop? do you want a lancer badge? do you want to go above lancer and get screen accurate? with your costume choices you have listed above you have to also think about mobility, ease of sight, cost ... if those things matter to you? i know for me i want another costume and cost isnt an issue but, mobility and being able to see with ease are very high on my list. you may have different priorities in a costume. either way your headed in the right direction and your in the right detachment as scouts are the best troopers in the legion good luck!

not sure how to go about printing it ... i dont even use that pattern or make them the same way the pattern shows. there are several ways to build them and this is just 1 of those ways. anyways, you just need the dimensions -- 6x5x2 you can layout(draw) what is shown in the diagram on your fabric, cut and sew the pouch together.

Lets all congratulate our Detachment Leader BikerScout007 for completing 100 troops and achieving Ranger status this past weekend! Congrats Mickey

congrats, welcome to the ranks! now are you going to make a coin to commemorate it? 🤣

thats a shelf queen piece ... not sure why they choose to make and sell this. a serious troop and the black material will be filled with condensation and sweat ... as it is now the condensation in an all plastic helmet builds up really really good in the front nose section. in the summer time that material in the helmet has got to retain heat too ... sure, you can add fans but, they wont stop the sweat and condensation build up like one thinks. is the black liner made to come out, to be washed, easily buy a replacement? im just fine with some soapy warm water rags and or alcohol wipes to clean my helmet when im done trooping. and the weight of fiberglass is another reason people have went to all plastic helmets ... troopers dont want that extra weight on their heads for to long. sorry, but, i dont see it as a step forward. actually they took a step back and mashed old heavy weight material together with new light weight material.
-
awesome! another trick for the black line is to add velcro to the front triangles of the belt and to your cod piece. this will help keep the belt up and in place and wont allow it to fall down exposing that black suit line
-
yessir ... im curious too. i will post a thread w/pics for the comparison of the two
-
the visor staying open is different with each helmet ... the originals/rs's have a bump in the helmet that keep the visor up as far a "fixin" .. that depends on what your going for. ~ basic? it looks like youd make that easy ~ lancer? you need some adjustment with arm armor(all 3 pieces), cod piece, knees .. thats just what i can see from the pics. glad you got it all together and got in a troop .. howd it feel?

CONGRATS!

nice! ill get with you over on FB and get you in our local A.R.T. group.

there really cant be measurements as everyones body is different .. your right in saying that it "looks good compared to crl model" (or screen used model) alot of the scouts costume is about getting the right look on each person.
-
i sent them a message on facebook and email and i just asked .... ive dealt with them(andrea) alot in the past with helmets and extra serial number decals and problem parts .... they have always been willing to help. (except the last time which was when i got hospitalized so, i couldnt follow up with them to resolve the issue) honestly, it would be in there best interest to not build the armor if people ask. saves RS time and they get abit more profit from not having to work a kit up.
-
i just secured my RS armor today ... as well, it will not be built by them. thats right, i will get to build the armor the way i want
-
it looks like you need to pull your belt up to allow the cod piece to not tuck into your crotch. the white fabric should not go under or bend under your crotch.
-
imo ... i think to many people try to match the snout with the bolt/decals grey color .... even i did at first till i started reasearching some orignal helmets. i eventually changed my snout color to a darker grey. if you look at star wars helmets then youll see plenty of shots with the snout and the bolts ... and youll see they dont match at all. the snout is clearly a darker grey. now to get some Pantone Cool Grey 8c and see how this color matches up to what i have
-
did mine freehand
-
for right at $100 thats a good starter helmet. being a rubies i would think it could be made approvable. being fiberglass im not sure one would want to wear it any length of time. also, over on amazon they suggest the size runs small would like to see a review done on it with pics.
-
sew all the pockets shut
-
i dont see why it wouldnt be approved with it. but, ~ the neck opening is small --- crl states "Vest has a much wider neck opening than the flight suit." you really dont want to see the flak vest in the neck area above your armor ~ the arms look really small -- they may be tight
-
your codpiece wont tuck into your crotch. it sits flat in the front and youll see just a little bit of the elastic yours is to wide at the bottom here are some pics that might help you
-
hello, looking at their site and pics ... ~ soles will need modded ~ center stitching on the front of the leather is still present (see the last pic) ~ velcro closer closes the wrong way also, there is no way they know the height of your calf ... so, the boot could be to tall or to short for you. i read what the say in the crl tab but, that looks like our old crl info i suggest take a look around our vendor section and contact some of them to make your boots or look into building your own boots (its really not that hard )
