  1. congrats on learning on how to sew ... wish i would have learned sooner than i did good suggestions above .... but, they make pencils that will wipe away with abit of water.. head to your local sewing/fabric store
  2. hello, where are you at in VA?
  3. i know some of the long time members should remember that post showing the leg, upper thigh armor on the biker scout. was talking scout armor over the weekend and this topic came up ... i cant seem to find the topic in the forums, do any you remember posting in it? so, i can search your posts or does anyone remember where it was at or even who made the post? thanks for any info and help finding that post
  4. my belt cracked/busted all over ... its is repairable with some abs scraps and ca glue w/instaset first 3 pics are the busted belt and the last 3 pics are my repairs ... i will eventually do all the corners of the boxes but, im just repairing as necessary atm
  5. 6 hours ago you opened the box? are you done yet? šŸ˜†
  6. there are several things: ~ the vertical stitching on the front shaft part of the boot looking at the photos they have listed now, the only pic showing the front shaft stitching is the last picture, the shaft folded down and open, you can see the vertical stitching there. have they changed their design since the picture was taken? ~ the velcro closure on the rear closes the wrong way. theirs close to the outside instead of to the inside ~ is the velcro the correct width? idk and this last pointer is more preference and of how it will look rather than not pass lancer. ~ the sole voids will leave odd placement for the sole cutouts, the original voids are not even.
  7. just take an exacto knife and cut it out ... it cleans up pretty easy
  8. i think it also depends on the armor thickness the maker uses. some armors wont crack like others due to thickness. i used thicker abs plastic/ca glue to reinforce several areas of one of my armor kits.
  9. helmet, armor(straps cut into it from the outside), soft parts ... all of it is wrong. kinda wonder if this wasnt the model they used?
  10. congrats all!
  11. my pouches are sewn to the cummerbund. vest was long enough and so the cummerbund is velcrod to it.
  12. wow ... what did you do? everything is on the wrong side! ~ fish hook on the helmet is supposed to be on the left side ~ black vents on the back of helmet are supposed to be on the left side ~ rank bars on the back tank are on the wrong side ~ grey square on the chest armor is also on the wrong side ~ thermal detonator greeblies are backwards ~ are you a lefty? cause, your holster suppose to go on the right boot man!
  13. hello, the CRL on the boots does not mention the stitching so, at this point the stitching is optional. as far as your sewing machine eating the vinyl ... that seems like you are using a thin vinyl and your machine needs a tension adjustment. if you decide later you want the stitching, think about adding a backer to the vinyl your using or get a vinyl with a backing. i have sewn a few dog bones with thicker backed vinyl and i never had the machine eat them. your boot look real good in the pic. but, it does seem that it tapers out as its going to the top, just be careful the boot is not to wide around your leg at the top. good luck!
  14. looks cool! and there it is ... id love to see how it fits on my head. does the helmet wobble or is it snug?
  15. CONGRATS!!!!
  16. hello, you will want to head down to the bottom of the forum and go over the info posted for the rebels biker scout ... i believe there is only 1 vendor for the helmet/armor and 1 vendor for the soft parts. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=166 good luck!
  17. hello, glad to hear your going for lancer as for your blater ... no crosshairs and the scope can not be hollow. i would suggest cutting some scrap abs plastic circles, one for the front and one for the back, painting them flat black and gluing it into the front and back of the scope. good luck with the blaster and lancer!
  18. i use all purpose bondo and spot putty on my rs helmets(8 of them now) ... no issues ... sand the helmet surface with 80 grit(or rougher) to give the bondo something to adhere to. its really just preference .. some like to use polyester filler(icing), some like to use abs paste, some like apoxie sculpt ... use what your comfortable with. take note of all your seams, anywhere there is not a backer at the seam, like at the ends of the helmet, any filler will start to crack there when the helmet flexes. good luck!
