  1. This is a question to run by your Garrison's GML as they'll approve your costume initially. There's nothing in the CRL about the sharpness and I personally would not reject a costume because it might look a little soft. That said, if you want to up your game a bit, those areas are pretty easy to replace with 3D printed parts. It's all up to you. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  2. Yay! Congratulations! I am so very happy for you!!!
  3. Looks good, soldier!
  4. I trimmed mine off and then shimmed it at the same time to make up for the lost width.
  5. You wire your own pretty easy. I used some small 5v fans. Henry's Helmet Fans are also popular and good quality. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  6. I got a soft rifle bag for my E22 so it's easier to take to events. I felt weird walking in the streets wheeling a tub and carrying a huge gun out in the open. Edit: Link to what I got. The 36" fits but is snug. I'd suggest going bigger. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QOFGZ0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  7. I read on BSP's FB page that they won't fix the double stripe because it can be trimmed off. I am guessing it is too costly to make a new mold.
  8. I would have done something flat like a Chicago screw if you wanted to bolt the straps to your shins. Pad that sucker or you'll get some weird bruises.
  9. I'd stick with the Montana Gold brand for your paints. It could go bad mixing acrylic with enamel paints. If you're hoping to go for Level 2 someday though - get the proper blue. It's a bit of a pain to repaint just the blue.
  10. If the spools in the pics is what he's currently printing his armor with - it is PLA.
  11. You can always sand off some of the weathering with a high grit sandpaper. The blue looks too dark though. It might be the overall lighting. What kind of paint did you use? What Garrison are you in? I'm sure we can help track down your GML. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  12. I'm biased but you made a solid choice.
  13. Congrats! What an honor!
  14. Making progress! Those dang shoulder bell stripes. I had to do mine three times until I got it right. [emoji14] Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  15. What printer did you get? Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  16. No. Like full on using fiberglass (cut in strips) with epoxy resin and building up a few layers inside the bucket. Once that's done, I brush or spray plastidip over it. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  17. I'm building a 3D printed helmet. I reinforced the inside with some fiberglass. You don't need to rely on the strength of the 3D print itself to get you through some troops.
  18. Pics or it didn't happen.
  19. A few guys in my Garrison have a ribbed type fabric for their shirt. Check with your Garrison first.
  20. I used velcro to hold on my back plate. Depending on your armor (mine is ABS) you could have some nylon tabs go over your back armor and connect to the back plate. It'll be covered by your upper back armor . Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  21. Can also try ABS slurry. Mix your scrap plastic (that you from the armor) and a little acetone in a glass jar. The acetone will melt the plastic and, if you have the right ratio, you'll get a thick goo. Use that to fill in the gaps. If the slurry is too thin - add more plastic. Too thick - add more acetone. I prefer a thickness you can brush on so you don't melt the armor itself.
  22. Them Shoretrooper shins are popping up everywhere. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks! I'm so excited! This is my first build and I learned so much reading through everyone's build posts.
  24. Awesome! Thank you so much. I guess I'll have to redo my shins/strappings. I don't want to be the only one with moulded straps. Here's an action shot of my kit. Let me know if you want a JPEG instead. This PNG changed the colorspace a bit.
  25. Alright - the great repaint has happened. I got a paint shop to color match the 1980 Ford Fiesta blue color. Black misting and gray aging also has been applied. The red bicep was repainted with the Dupli-Color Toyota Red. Shoulder Bell repainted blue with thicker stripe on top. Chest painted with the new blue and proper weathering effect. New Hip Canisters Attempt at showing the weathering on the pringle can strap. Dirty Pants and Shoes Weathering on the belt can actually be seen in this shot. 😛 Back foam is pulled in and my new hip armor goes all the way back to the TD. I think I hit all of the modifications you asked me to make. If you need a closeup of anything or different angle, let me know.
