Thanks for working through this and clarifying, armory team.

All plastics will yellow eventually and long exposure to UV will certainly accelerate that process. That said, the general consensus seems to be that MC's plastic tends to yellow much faster than other vendors.

I just checked a print out I made of the Lancer standards from late Summer, it def says 1" on the bottom and 1/2" on the top. Not sure when the change to 5/8" happened, but it was probably sometime in the Fall. Is the agreement from the armorers that the thinner strapping is still on the top?

Check here for blaster info: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18225 If you're going for display only, I recommend the polymer armory pistol, but ultimately the choice is yours.

The flight suit will be snug, yes, but you can generally move around a-ok. There are some tricks you can do to the suit, like adding spandex material on the back/lower back that provide more mobility and comfort for trooping purposes.

Huh, well I'll be. I guess you catch something new everyday with those blu-ray screenshots.

A single rivet is a Level 2 Lancer requirement. You should be fine for basic clearance with 2 rivets.

I've seen folks paint the inside of their tank red bc of that photo...

So you did! I did link that review, but I'll edit and clarify the post to note that it includes the Hole in the Ground blaster. Thanks Griffin! -
Ultimate Scout Pistol Comparison Thread!
Chopper replied to Chopper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
I have some other items from hole in the ground and they were of good quality and shipped quickly. I don't have one of his scout blasters though. I'd be happy to post photos for the sake of comparison if anyone has one in hand. I do think that a resin blaster will fall into the same category as the polymer armory one, which is that it's heavy, would sag your boot, and being resin, prone to breaking if dropped. -
This is a good source for webbing and other strapping needs: http://www.jontay.com/

Flight Suit Musing. Looking for new direction
Chopper replied to mjhenks's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I looked at the tru-spec when I was working on my coveralls. Ended up not going that way as the hip pockets are actually cut through all the layers of fabric, so they're impossible to hide once the pockets are removed. -
SC Helmet Alterations
Chopper replied to Imperial Speedster's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Post up some photos of the helmet. That'd help with any advice. If you follow the instructions in this thread, you should be able to purchase some grey 3M bolts: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=10270 -
I put a strip of loop side 2" width Velcro oriented vertically inside the centerline of the knee armor.
-
I only reinforced above the V cut on the bottom of the chest armor (should you choose to do that) and I also put a reinforcing strip of styrene inside the bicep armor to prevent cracking now that we're using a 2" elastic band there.
-
This is my SC armor with an Altmann helmet. They work pretty well together.

Mask off the aerator/mesh part, then spray paint the rest gray. I've found that Testors Model Master Navy Agressor Gray is about the right color to use.
-
A lot of scouts have used SC (myself included). He's very popular for armor, though since you're Europe based, you might want to check out Chef as well. Moncal does make great armor but the wait times are in years, so I'd stay away from that one unless you have infinite patience. This thread is a pretty good comparison of armor types: http://forum.bikersc...l=&fromsearch=1 For blasters, I've got a comparison of a few here: http://forum.bikersc...l=&fromsearch=1 Personally, I prefer the DVH blaster, due to the integrated magnets. When you get 5 posts you should be able to see the vendor forum, so that'll give you a few more avenues to explore for your kit.

Stickers or paint for armor decals?
Chopper replied to JBar's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
The suggestion on starwarshelmets is that they're likely waterslide decals, but I haven't seen the original prop, so that's as much as I can say. I don't think anyone offers waterslide decals for the helmet, though if you had the means you could probably print a set on your own. Personally, I used trooperbay's biker scout helmet decal set and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. -

The original scout helmet used decals. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/star_wars_helmets_review_original_jedi_biker_scout_trooper_helmet.htm
