Long time Cadet finally obtaining my SC Kit
Chopper replied to Jakeputt's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
You're standing at an angle, but from what I can see, I actually don't think you don't need to raise your knee armor at all. The knee to boot top distance looks a-ok. -

You can always try pegging your jeans, 90s style, until you get the stirrups sewn in But seriously, you're doing great. Give us a shout when you're ready to show off more progress!

Correct. "The purpose of the ART is to promote the Pathfinder's costumes within the Garrison, help prospective Pathfinders with their builds, encourage older TBs/CBs to stay up-to-date with the Pathfinders CRL and assist current Pathfinders going for Lancer status." Since that mission statement was written before Shoretroopers came on board, they'd be included as well.

Where to get correct Bolts Question?
Chopper replied to 0XlX0's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I've seen a few different takes on this issue. One option is similar to what you suggested, which is to saw off the screw portion of the 3M bolt, but keep the square part. Then you can cut the head off of a longer bolt stem, drill a hole into the square portion (just don't drill through the face of the 3M bolt!), and glue the longer stem into the plastic. One issue is getting a good plastic/metal bond, which would be tricky, given the rotational forces, so if you can find a plastic bolt to use, instead of metal, that'd probably work better. Another method would be to trim off the plastic screw portion of the 3M bolt, and then secure the 3M bolt in the helmet with a shallow depth screw and a washer. Effectively, the 3M bolt ends up becoming the end nut and the screw is now on the inside of the helmet. Again, you'd have to be careful to not let the screw poke out of the face of the 3M bolt, but with some blue loctite it should hold the 3M it in securely. Anyhow, that's my 2 cents on attacking your issue. I'm sure the others will chime in with some other ideas, but let us know what you decide on. -
PM coming your way, boss.

Congrats Cody and welcome to the ranks, Pathfinder!

Looking good, looking good, future scout. Just a few pointers -- I like the fit of your bund. That height looks pretty much dead on. It might need to come up a bit on your body once you figure in proper placement of your armor and belt, but that's nothing to worry about right now. You cod should also come up a bit slightly, as it should sit generally flat-ish on the front of your body and not curve under you. Some stiffener either inside the cod, or behind it should help that out, as well as avoid the cod crunchy effect. You can use buckram, volara foam, or yoga mat material. All produce a similar effect. You might want to think about using stirrups or boot blousers to keep your trouser legs tucked. Here's a question for you -- are the sleeves on your flak vest ribbed? I can't see it in the photos and it might be the light. [EDIT: Nevermind, I see them in your earlier photos.] Overall though, you're looking good. Just keep doing your thing and you'll be ready to submit in no time.

Lone Wolf buckets with a few modifications
Chopper replied to Darth Chridan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Hey Darth Chirian, perhaps the vent repair was done when the original helmet was made for ROTJ? I ask because when RS posted photos of the original purchased helmet, the shots of the insides didn't show a repair -- at least not one done after the mold was pulled. -
Yeah, it's an interesting question that I've wondered myself as well. There's one scout in my garrison who did use snaps, but he came over from the TK side, like you, so that's probably why he went that way. As Mickey said, there's no reason you can't use snaps as long as the end result is the same. In fact, I'd be curious to hear about how well it works on your scout armor once everything is finished up.

It's okkkaayyy, but def not $700 "ok". Maybe $200 "ok"...maybe...

Looks great. Can't wait to see more LW helmets in the wild someday soon. -
Hey Skip. Welcome to BSN! I made this thread not too long ago. Lots of photos from the inside and it should answer some of your questions about attaching parts together. It's not the only way to do it, just what worked for me. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=18894&hl=&fromsearch=1

Thanks Mickey! I should have some extras by the end, so I'm always down for trading with other interested ARTs.

Just wanted to take a minute and show off our new ART Patch.
-
Mickey -- of course, and if this results in mods to the CRL, then that makes me happy to have brought the info forward for everyone's benefit.

Thanks all -- I checked with Eric at Polymer Armory and he said he got the image from a screen cap website. Having gone through all the screencaps from that scene, I can tell you that there's no head on shot like that of the scout that captures Leia. If anyone else recognizes that image, or the source, please chime in. My intent is not to upend the CRL, it was just a new bit of info about the screen used blaster that I never knew about. I'm hoping to harness the collective knowledge of the pathfinders to see what else is out there with regard to this hero blaster.

Not only that, but the scope is drilled as well!

I was recently trying to find additional images of the screen used holdout blaster and I think I found something interesting when comparing props vs ROTJ screen captures. Maybe this is already known, but here's a photo of one of the screen used blaster props: This seems to correspond to the one used during the speeder bike chase: Now, look closely at the blaster used when the Scout captures Leia: Hey look! There's a circular bolt on the back, which isn't on the screen used blaster prop or the blaster used in the speeder bike chase. Now, I also found this image courtesy of Polymer Armory -- I can't find it on starwarsscreencaps, but it really looks like it's from the Leia/Scout Endor scene. Maybe it's set photography from another angle? So here's the question -- the Lvl 2 CRL says that there were no screen used drilled barrels. Given what's in the photo, maybe the hero holdout blaster did? Does anyone else have additional information that could shed some more light on this?

Long time Cadet finally obtaining my SC Kit
Chopper replied to Jakeputt's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Hi Jake, I'm sure the armourers will chime in in a minute, but you might want to add some volara foam or yoga mat material to the cod. That'll help eliminate the bunched look.when you pull the elastic strap through. Also, your bund looks a bit long, but it'd be easier to tell once you get your armor fitted on top of it. Keep at it, buddy! -
Wow. Never thought I'd live to see the day.

TB-56072 Pre-Screening Lancer Photo Album
Chopper replied to RebelTB-72's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
In addition to what the others said, I wanted to mention that you did a fantastic job on your boots, especially the cuts on the sole. Did you do those yourself? Also, you might want to check your helmet bolt measurement -- you should use proper 3M bolts or replicas of in the helmet. (Visible bolt head diameter of 22mm). -
There was a review of their biker scout boots from several years ago. Take a look here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=12601&hl=%20imperial%20%20boots&st=0 As for the rivets, I used backing plates and that's done the job so far.
