RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper armor

I have to ask, but are you aiming to use your current Scout Boots for this kit, or are you looking to recreate something similar to the Sierra Sneakers? -

Yeah it remains to be seen how on point the soft goods will be. Still, the armor itself looks quite impressive. -
First Helmet build question
Chopper replied to clockworksoldier's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Ah ok yeah I wouldn't expect getting extra abs from him in s. america would be that easy. You could also try WTF if you want. They'd probably hook you up with some extra ABS that's a bit thicker than plastic sign board. For glue, some folks like CA. I like devcon plastic weld. Just make sure you double and triple check your fit, bc once you glue the parts, they're not gonna separate. -
First Helmet build question

You mind if I ask which kit you're working on? Some vendors will send you extra abs if you ask. You could also use the flexible sign material, which say "For Sale", "No Parking" etc, that they sell at Home Depot or hardware stores. One side is usually printed on, the other blank white. Since you'll be painting the whole helmet anyhow, the minor differences in white won't matter much. -
For basic, likely no, but I'd check with your GML to make sure, since they'll be approving your initial application.

Nice! Sounds like you're well on your way. Good work.

I'm glad that Cal's new business model seems to be working. He makes fantastic scout armor, so I'm stoked to see more sets of his armor out in the wild. Good luck! As for image hosting alternatives, many of us use imgur. I use it and it's pretty easy to work with.

That one looks pretty decent as well. The only thing that stands out to me are (again) the indents on the right rear, they look too wide (see the photo below of the original helmet). Otherwise, yeah, the overall shape seems a-ok.
-
What maker armor are you using? Is that SC? The front armor seems low, we should try to bring that up a bit. Just to give me an idea on sizing, what happens if you leave a 1" - 1.25" space between the front and back armor shoulder joins? Can you get your head through?

Hey Hikuro, could you give us a photo as to how it looks on you without the bridge covering? There's plenty of other big scouts out there, so I'm certain we can get you ship shape.

Here's a photo of the original screen used caps. I'd say the measurements are about 3/8" to 1/2".

Lawless Scout's ART patch challenge.

That'd be greatly appreciated. I can set one of our 29th ART patches aside for ya, if you need it. -
Lawless Scout's ART patch challenge.

Good work, scout brother. I've just about caught up with you The only one I'm missing is the 38th Elite Recon Patrol. So far that one has proven elusive to find. -
Welcome from another Michigan native. :)

Also, one more note, now that I'm viewing the finished photos on my desktop pc -- the indents on the right side of the back of the helmet should be about an inch long. The ones in the model look approx 1.5x too long.
-
The general shape looks ok, at least based on the "finished" photos in the link. My concern is the indented markings on the snout, forehead, and "barcode" on the back. Those should be decals, not molded into the plastic.

Yep. Same here.

Hey dude, yeah I've got a few left. PM me and maybe we can trade?

I'd prefer to say that I celebrate the full catalogue of scout armor offerings.

The Altman/SC match up is a very popular and great looking combo. Keep us updated on your build!

Nice. Be sure to keep us updated on how it turns out.

That's ok! I got started with just sewing velcro. Even that saves a ton of work and money.

Of all the things that I learned in the process of joining the legion, figuring out how to use a sewing machine was one of the most useful (and cost effective).

Well, regardless of size, you should be able to get started on trimming the armor at least. Unlike stormtroopers, you don't really need to trim the armor to size. The side strapping might need to be adjusted, sure, but not much with the hard parts. With the scout any changes would primarily be with the soft goods -- particularly the coveralls, vest, and bund. So yeah, I'd definitely hold off on the soft goods until you're at your target weight, but you could definitely get started on the armor and boots.
