That's correct, the rivet should go through the pre drilled hole on the edge of the tank greeb. I know SC started adding an extended bump on his back armor, so when you asked earlier I figured you'd have room to move the greeb outward slightly? If not, leave it and you'll be fine as is.
-
The greeb that ScottF is using is the one that comes standard with the SC kit. It does have some minor differences, yes but we haven't been too strict about it historically.

This is a photo from the motm exhibition. You don't need to exactly match the placement, since sizing is different for different armor makers, but I'd move it back from the rear armor a little bit.

studio creations Lee's Super Fun Time Biker Build
Chopper replied to Hikuro1983's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
I have two small pieces of velcro on the front of my flak vest, which keeps my armor from shifting around too much. Once we get your positioning locked in, you could do something similar if you want. One thing I recommend, if you haven't tried it yet, is leaving the side straps open, positioning and centering the armor on your shoulders, then worry about closing up the sides.- 30 replies

It's alright man, we can do this. I want to say that, based on your side shot, your back armor seems a bit low. Shifting it all forward might give you an extra inch or so in the front. Your rig looked good in the t shirt photo from earlier. Is the flak vest changing the fit?- 30 replies

I found the thread, but it seems that the images, including the dog bone template you're looking for, have been lost in the site migration. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/903-boot-tutorial/ I'm not sure if we can regain access to the images in that thread...? @Shortstack In the meantime, here's a photo of the template I used when I built my boots. I hope that's helpful, at the very least.

From what I recall, the SC instructions do mention that as an option for affixing them.- 30 replies

Some film scouts had a small gap in the back, others didn't, so it's perfectly acceptable to go either way. It does look a little long, but I def wouldn't call for any alterations at this point. Give us a look once you get your belt and upper armor rigged up and we can provide any further refinements.

Another Hi-Tec Sierra Sneakers question
Chopper replied to Whiskey's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Cobbler's use mega powerful shoe stitching machines! Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was something that could be done by hand 😯, I just wanted to mention how portions of the originals were made. 😁 I'm not sure there's really an ideal answer if you don't want to glue the sneakers. You could reach out to Chef via his website to see if he'll take it on, since I believe he's the only one who stitches the vinyl onto the boot. You'd need to get more details from him though. -
Another Hi-Tec Sierra Sneakers question
Chopper replied to Whiskey's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
If you want to mod the boots, attaching vinyl without permanent damage is going to be tough. Any sort of adhesive is going to affect the fabric in some way -- even the adhesive on masking tape will end up staining the boot fabric over time. I know that Chef in the UK actually stitches the vinyl to the scout boots he makes, which is how the originals were created. That'd still be relatively permanent, but it'd be less destructive than using adhesives for everything. -
If you look at the original helmet, you'll see that the ridges do not extend that much further past the upper trapezoid. It's only maybe 1/2"-ish.

Dude, you look like Gino's scout mannequin in that photo. Nice!
-
Oh wow, nice find! I ran into a pair a few months ago, but they were a full size too small (I WILL MAKE THEM FIT!!! :) ).
-
Yeah man, that's a pretty big gap between the chest and back armor. A 4" covering is gonna be a pretty wide cover strip. Hopefully we can find a way to improve it a bit. From the side shot, can you mark where the front piece ends? It looks really far past your shoulder, but that might also be the selfie distortion.

I knew there was a pattern referenced in an older thread -- check here for some additional pattern images: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/15973-new-riding-patch-templates/&tab=comments#comment-143785

I don't have an exact pattern, but Mickey posted some detailed pictures here. Apologies if you're already seen the link. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19259-undersuit-mods/ I tested out any paper patterns I sketched by first by cutting them out of an old pair of jeans. That way I didn't waste the suede.

Hey Jesus, I remember when you did that run of cast helmets a few years ago. Based on the models and printed representation in your link, there's not much I can say in terms of improvements -- it's a really excellent render, great work.

Welcome aboard and thanks for checking in with us. We're happy to provide further feedback on your models, just let us know.

Moncal helmet review/comparison
Chopper replied to 3DImpact's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Thanks for posting the comparison, Dan. They're pretty close. Did Cal still decide to go with the urethane back portion and the abs faceplate? -
I don't want to entirely derail cheesewhoopy's build post, but if you had the time to post a review of the new MC helmets in a new thread, that'd be awesome.
-
Nice work Cheesewhoopy! Did you get the new MonCal helmet as well? I didn't realize he'd released it yet?

RS Prop Masters Scout Trooper armor
Chopper replied to jkno's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I think that "issues" is probably far too strong of a word :) , but the sole and boot shaft are two of the areas that would prevent them from Lancer approval.
