  1. Bleh...that's a no go in this heat. I'll just wear my balaclava thank you.
  2. Thanks Tim! I think I'll stick with just my balaclava. No need to add a layer in this desert heat.
  3. So does that mean you can drop the balaclava and go with a neck seal? How about for Lancer?
  4. Where is that approval? Did your GML take the month off to go snow skiing in the Alps or something? I want to see that TKID#
  5. SC makes a good lid. I got an Altmann's and I really like it. Might want to check out Spike's thread on the sales forum.
  6. Outstanding work! The boots are a greatest to ease into, the build and you're doing all the right things. Make sure you give the toes a good stretch three times or so. That way they will go on nice and smooth. When you get ready to glue have a couple of tongue depressors/popsicle sticks at the ready to help spread the glue out to all the corners. Keep up the great work!
  7. Can you provide some pictures? The best way is to start a Photobucket account and then you can post up pics here. It helps if we can see what you're asking about. That's why we start build threads. It gives the experienced Scouts a way to input into our builds. If it's the rectangular greeblie (and I'm guessing here) it may just be the best to leave it as is. You could try a thin bladed screwdriver to try and pry it up but if you notice it starting to damage the greeblie or the TD box then I would stop and just leave it as is. There is no hard requirement for that particular greeblie to be pointing up or down. If you plan on going Lancer at some point it is required for that particular greeble to have the two small rectangles pointing up. If you need another greeble I do have a spare that I can send you just let me know.
  8. Some sew the bund and cod together and and some use Velcro to attach the cod to the bottom of the bund or even the vest. Strider put together a real nice tutorial here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15433
  9. That's what our XO teaches us. 1.) Watch the movie. 2.) Watch the movie. 3.) Watch the movie. and when in doubt from the first three watch the movie again
  10. Stop by anytime! This is the place for all things Pathfinder and full of amazing and talented folks who are here to help so don't be a stranger!
  11. That's because that is some epic armor! Luggabeast?......what Luggabeast?
  12. You're looking good Dan! Just a few more tweaks Scout! Looking forward to hearing about your approval.
  13. Hi Lara and welcome to the BS.N forest! Your english is fine ma'am. If you haven't had the chance I would recommend that you get in contact with your local garrison which for you would be the German Garrison here: www.501st.de they will be able to help you locally source the parts you need as well as give you advice on the armor you have purchased. The gloves can be purchased from Wampa Wear here in the US. You will need a minimum of five posts to access the trade forum so take a look around and introduce yourself to the folks around here and please let us know if we can help you in any way.
  14. Even if you get it you'll still have to replace the drop boxes and I think the shoulder bells with ones from SC.
  15. I went with a new snout from Lou (DVH) and got my sticker set from Trooperbay for my Altmann's. I love the snout and the stickers are well done too. I'm working on a second hand KS lid now and need a source for a new lens other than the green shy suggestions?
  16. The vinyl is looking good! The cuts are a little deep but I don't see any problem with a basic approval. Maybe just clean up the excess adhesive around that left boot toe area. It's a learning experience for us all so don't get discouraged. One other tip is that for Lancer you'll need a single tone boot sole so these wouldn't make approval. It's good that you are thinking ahead. I would suggest taking a look at the Lancer specs and work towards building your armor to them as it's harder to upgrade it after it's built than to build it in on the first go around. We're here to help you so give a shout out when you have any questions.
  17. Hi Patrick. The drop boxes are same as the thigh boxes and the shoulder bells are the armor pieces that cover your shoulders. There are three pieces of armor on the arm: the forearm, the bicep, and the shoulder bell.
  18. Welcome to the BS.N forest Shane! This is the place for all thing Pathfinder. You've made a great choice as the Scout is awesome! It sounds like you've been doing your homework and that's good. SC is an excellent kit at a really good price and you can't go wrong there. There are a couple of other makers that I can PM you but they will most likely be in the same price range but it will give you some other options to look at. I would also invite you to reach out to your local garrison. Seeing that you are in NC that would be the Carolina Garrison and their website is www.carolinagarrison.net. You'll need a minimum of five posts to access the trade forum so head out into the forum and look around and introduce yourself. We're here to help so let us know what we can do to assist you on your journey.
  19. I need some advice. I'm working on the rear of helmet and I need a good filler material that will sand and paint well without melting the ABS. I want to level the back upper seam as it's a bit crooked. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  20. Outstanding! Very awesome of you to put this together. Are there and specific measurements for the cod or is it something that has to be fitted to the individual?
  21. That's awesome! I have a saying "be an adult when you have to be. Be a child when you can be." I decided to be permanently 5 years old when I don't have to be an adult. If I find any Starburst from the 70s I'll be sure to send them your way:)
  22. Ferra has a nice build thread you might want to look through for some tips here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=13749
  23. Yeah that's the stuff! Used it on my Ewok stompers and it works great.
  24. I'm 5'8" and the SC fit me fine with some mods to fit my body shape better. It's mostly related to trimming so the armor "fits" your body size cleanly. Blitzjaeger is another Scout around here that is a smaller trooper and you can always hit him up too. You can see some of the mods on my build thread if you are interested: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=14946 Another good idea is to keep updated on the MO and FL garrison sites and find out when they are going to have an "armor party" where you can work together with an experienced trooper to build your armor.
