Looking good! Get that armor submitted Scout! I'll bet Jedi Joe will give you a pass for tonight as long as it's in. If you see Vic give him my regards and I hope to get to Phoenix Comic Con and troop with you and the DSG. Have a great troop tonight! Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Helmet #365 here. I got it on Star Wars day so it made it even more awesome. The bucket looks great! I'm looking forward to your pre-approval pics. Suit up and let's see the whole package Scout! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Good point and I think you're spot on with the heavier resin types but my Hyperfirm was pretty light. I've since gone with Lou's modified blaster with the mag cast in. Looking forward to seeing how that works out. Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk

Awesome! Look forward to seeing those as you build comes together! -
I've not heard of them. If your looking for a shadow a good idea would be to stop by (and sign up for ) the 501st SpecOps forum as that's where that armor resides. Here's the link: http://forum.501stspecopsdet.net/. Feel free to hang around here too as the armor is the same (just a different color) and there's a lot you can learn here for your build. Hope that helps!

Cristian, Thanks very much. Yeah I'll be selling it here at some point. I'll PM you. Thanks a lot Brian! Now it's you're turn mate! Let's get that armour done and approved Scout!

Shada has one in his thread here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15005&st=40. Is this the one you were looking for? I added additional Velcro to my bridges to keep them from separating at the joint and then I slid the cover over top of the Velcro and then I secure the t-strap. Hope this helps!

Thanks Todd! I owe you one brother for giving me all the pointers on my build thread before I went for approval. My GML mentioned that this was one of the smoothest approvals he's had. I firmly believe that it was due to experienced Pathfinders like you who took the time to help a recruit out. I tip my bucket to you sir!

I had folks like you as examples Stasz! I couldn't have done it without the support of this amazing community of Scouts. This is indeed the best Detachment in the 501st!

Armor and helmet advice for a tk new to scouts
Retrofire replied to tk 7261's topic in Getting Started
You can't go wrong with the SC armor. I'm three inches taller than you and some of the mods I had to do was to cut the shoulder bells back about 1.5" or so, trim the shoulder tabs back and relocate the side tabs on the front and rear armor. I'm wearing an Altmann's lid and it works great for me but I would defer to Mickey on the lids as he has way more experience than I in that department. The LW lid is super duper rare and your chances of finding one of those gems is akin to Han giving the Falcon back to Lando for nothing . Remember too that your neck/chin will be covered with your flight suit neck closure and balaclava so as long as your chin doesn't stick out too far you should be good. -

I sewed elastic to both side of my cotton webbing straps to give the front and back pieces a bit of "flex". You can only see the cotton between the plates but there's elastic where it attaches to the armor. The bund and cod look great! -

I am continually amazed at the variety of techniques I have encountered here to build armor. Really nice work Cheyenne I'm excited to see it coming together for you! -
Thank you all.

Approved! TB-91005 reporting to Endor as ordered. Many thanks to the many Pathfinders who helped me achieve this honor!
-
Thanks that will help me a lot since I'm going for Lancer. I'll need to commission a new bund for sure.
-
I think that's one of the items that Chex mentioned the command staff was going to address this year. Anyway, I've been told to use the requirements here on BS.N by the Lancers and not the 501st version. It takes longer to get that one updated as it has to go through the Legion offices and not the detachment. The outboard rivet should be painted white. I used Testor's white.

Thanks Christina! Get that armor finished Scout!

Thanks for the clarification Mickey. It seems to me that the bund almost sits on top of the belt rather than underneath it with the belt over top of it. Some good food for thought.
-
Hmmm am I missing something here? I added Velcro to my vest and bund to ensure it sat high and my belt is at my hip and belly button line so the bottom of the belt sits at the bottom of my bund. Looking at my rear shot I can see that the belt is at a slight angle so it comes above the bund line. I guess I'm not seeing what you experienced guys are seeing. I want it to be right for sure. I'm fine trooping in it but I do agree that the cod is a bit narrow so I'll looking for a replacement in the future.
-
You're right Tim the SC does come with decals well more like stickers really. I highly recommend getting a set of biker scout decals from Trooperbay. I used those for my tank striping and for my helmet. They are much more robust than the ones that come with the kit.
-
Really good explanation on the bund. I was trying to be really conscious about where the belt was sitting (on my hips over the belly button) so I spent some time adjusting and readjusting the bund to make sure it sat at the belt line. I totally get what you mean about the width of the cod which is why I'm going to get a new one before I submit Lancer. I'm also going to have to replace my vest, which is a bummer because Gabe did a really nice job on it, as this one is a tad too tight over my flight suit which makes movement a little tough. I'll be hitting you up for advice for sure before I replace my current bund.

Thanks Pac! Thanks Cheyenne! You're next! Get that armor finished Scout!
