  1. That's exactly the way I did my chest fitment. I used painters tape and adjusted to fit my torso. This is where patience is really a virtue. Trim a little and then test fit, then trim a little then test fit again, and repeat till you have a good comfortable fit. You want it snug but not compressing your ribcage I also used my heat gun to heat the shoulder tabs and curve them down lower like Panda did. It helped to fit my build better.
  2. Too true Tim. Mine is so valuable I considered switching out my hold out blaster with my heat gun in my boot holster. My trusty heat gun and sealing iron I won't be without 'em.
  3. No sweat Eric. Yeah we loved LL Florida. We went to the one in San Diego a year before and my son got some pics with Darth Maul. We also saw the lifesize Lego X-Wing which was just amazing. Great memories with my little Padawans on those trips! Now they're growin and looking to put on the armor like Dad....well one is the other...do I dare say it? Wants to be an X-wing pilot Hoping seeing his older brother in armor turns him to the dark side
  4. The screen scouts used the Hi-Tec Sierra Sneaker IV as the base boot. You can Google a pic of it to get an idea of how the soles are cut.
  5. Questions are what we are here for so ask away Rick and keep asking them. Yes, there is a member on the trade forum that offers them but you'll need five posts to access that forum. So head out into the forums for some more research and for a few more posts. The bolts are plastic and depending on what type of helmet you have might require a little modification to fit. Take a look about half way down in Cheyenne's (Forest Ranger) build thread here: http://forum.bikersc...ic=14850&st=40. She did some mods to her bolts to make them fit her Altmann's. The necessary mods really depends on what lid you have.
  6. The boots are looking great Eric. Looking forward to seeing some vinyl stretched on them!
  7. It's looking really good so far. I would remove, trim off, the return (lip) on the bottom of the shoulder bell so it is flush. You got the rounded corners on them and that looks good. It looks like the knee on the right could use a little more trimming to bring it even with the left one. Most of the rest of it looks like just a bit trimming and sanding it smooth with some 220 followed with some 400. You're on the right track keep at it! Jim (Griffin-X) wears a modified KS and knows way more about this particular armor than I so I'll defer to him.
  8. Your TD and tank topper kits are right on the money. There is a small problem with the DJ T-bits in that while the top (horizontal) part is correct the bottom (vertical) part is not exactly correct. It should be smooth except for the "allen" screws located on each side of the part. Here's a link to a pic on the 501st site: http://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TB_scout_biceps.jpeg . I think if you just fill in the area between the "screws" with some putty and sand it you should be fine.
  9. Statz is on point on that one. Get a good pair of gel inserts or similar and you won't go wrong with these boots. Good ewok stompers I think.
  10. Yeah, That's the one I'm using and it's great. You can pull the face down under your chin if you need more air or keep it Ninja style. It's worth it here in the desert.
  11. I'm using the exact same Husky case as well along with a custom bikerscout helmet cover from Sgt Carida. The case is perfect. Fits everything and some extras. Here is a pic of my crate:
  12. Welcome to the team and thanks!
  13. You're welcome my friend. I'm one of many around here. Troopers helping troopers brother. This is why this is the best Det and forum in the good ole 501st!
  14. This is probably the one SC uses: http://www.joann.com...BBuckle&start=1 I'm using a 1.5" strap and it fits just about right on. They run about $4 or so at Jo-Anne's.
  15. I have 1 3/4" wide parachute buckles on my drop boxes that came with the SC armor.
  16. You're right on target and I understand. I stared at my armor for days before I got up the nerve to take my Lexan scissors to it but the folks around here we're right behind me and I had a lot of build pics to go by as well. I had several bookmarked that I kept referring back to. When in doubt post up with a pic or two and you'll get the support you need.
  17. Here's how mine knees look: Just make sure you test fit so it's sized to your leg right and the outer facing rivet will be painted white for Lancer. I did a dork move and didn't size it before I installed it and had to remove it and do it over again.
  18. That is a nice stretch on the boots and they look great. Just take your cuts a little at a time. Cut and fit check, cut and fit check, etc. That way you can be comfortable cutting and make the armor fit you.
  19. Nice work Mark it's looking great! Those liners look really comfortable in your lid. You'll be able to fine tune the drop boxes once you get suited up. They should be around 3.8 to 5 cm from your belt but that all comes with the final adjustments once you have it all together. Looking forward to seeing your pre-approval thread.
  20. No problem and that's what were here for. Folks like Mickey and Shaun have been riding the Scout Bike for a long time and have tons of experience as to what does and doesn't work so they are worth listening to. There is a wealth of info here and tons to learn and these are the folks that will point you in the right direction. I started in the Armory moving from one part of the armor to another learning as I went along and then asked a lot of questions before I pulled the trigger on one part or another. I have to say that I'm the Scout I am because of these folks here. So grab yourself a cold beverage, comfy chair and a bowl of popcorn and start looking through this place and you'll be amazed at how much you'll learn. Keep asking the questions!
  21. Welcome to the BS.N forest Ken. You can read more about KriptonTop here on this thread: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=13107. There was just a name change. You'll need five more posts to access the trade forum so I would head out into the forum and take a look through the armory and get a feel of what other scouts are using. If you have a question post it up and there will be someone to help you. Welcome aboard!
  22. That's a great question Randy. In the front they point upwards towards the belt and they are reversed on the back i.e. point away from the belt. I did one continuous strap and just looped it through the connectors. You can either loop them or sew them it just depends how you want it to work. Here's a pic:
  23. For me it's that band where my bund and vest overlap under the chest armor. I have to say I almost wish they didn't add the vest to the ROTJ scouts.
  24. Nice looking Ewok stompers! Great job!
  25. No problem Wayne and you're right it's not a full up DLT-19 but it does look similar. I think I found the thread you might want to take a look at. This is from Hyraxe over in the UKG. I think this is the blaster you are looking for... http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15288
