  1. Panda also has a couple of videos that are good to watch as well.
  2. It's a sealing iron used for RC aircraft. I used Pandatroopers method on my armor and it works best. The problem with a standard iron is that it's too heavy and clunky. You really need to be close to the work to direct the heat in order to make a clean edge. You can find sealing irons on Amazon.
  3. It's probably harder to animate the pouches and folds of the bund especially when they're riding so maybe they nixed it to save time and therefore $$. Makes sense...good eye!
  4. I'm sorry to hear this and the restocking fee is nonsense IMO but the has to be a time when you say enoughs enough and move on. I would highly recommend Gabe Sci-Fi creations (the link is on the first page of this thread). He did my flight suit and vest. His work is excellent and he has great communication to his buyers. There are several Pathfinders that also take commissions for boots and soft armor that you can find on the Trade forum. I'm sorry you had issues and it's good that you posted up so others don't end up in the same boat.
  5. Welcome John. It's great to have you aboard!
  6. That's what we're here for my friend! Another good resource would be to reach out to your local garrison. You can find them via the 501.org site...look on the right side and use the map to enter your location and it should give you the garrison weblink. Head over there and register and get to know your future garrison mates. Some also have meet and greets and even armor parties where you can get help with your build.
  7. Welcome to the BS.N forest Bryce! We're here for you so head on out and start looking around. You'll need five posts to see the trade forum so post up any questions. A good place to start is in the armory to get familiar with the various pieces that make up the scout. The CRL is also a good read since those are the requirements we all have to meet for basic approval. As I said we're here for you so let us know how we can help you become one of us:)
  8. I would recommend heading over to the armory and start looking through the threads regarding soft armor. You can sew them yourself like many pathfinder have done with the information found there if you would like. If you're looking to get them off the "rack" you'll need five posts to access the trade forum where you can find folks that you can commission your soft armor from. Take a look around and we're right behind you to help when you need.
  9. After reading the forums there are quite a few folks that are upset. Enough that the COGs are starting to weigh in. My concern is that I haven't seen response from our command staff but Spec Ops has weighed in. Folks are bashing BSN pretty hard. Steve has been really backing BSN and we need to take up his and SpecOps backs and show some unity with grace and understanding. We're scouts but we're all legionnaires first and always need to remember why we started doing this in the first place.
  10. One step at a time brother. Go slow and be methodical. I know it's hard but you'll reap dividends from it when you get to the end.
  11. Ahhh yes the days of building armor when you look at the clock and then say "I'll just work on this piece a little then hit the hay" and then you look over and the sun's coming up.....It's looking great keep it up!
  12. Yeah just watch the necroposting. The webteam Pathfinders take a dim view on beefing up post numbers with nonsense posts:)
  13. You can also check out Spike in the Trade Forum. His lids are really nice. There is also a great helmet thread in the armory that talks about the various makers.
  14. I also snag a pair of new knees while you're at it. Those older knees just don't look as nice as the new one SC has.
  15. That definitely isn't anything recognizable as a holster. You can always get another one after market from SC or Chef. As Chef mentioned can you post pics of you whole armor set so we can see it and possibly identify the maker?
  16. Almost. They need to come over Just a bit more than aligned with the bell bottoms. Take a gander at some of the approval threads. That might help give you a better picture.
  17. Wow! Really nice work Jake! You are really looking great and nice job on the weathering. Here are a few items that I see based on the pics: 1.) Roll that bicep and forearm armor over to the front. It's too far back. It's probably from donning the armor and it has a tendency to roll over like that. Some folks attach velcro to help keep it from rolling over. The tips of the forearm armor will go over your gauntlets. 2.) Bring those drop boxes up to about an inch from your belt. They're a little low. 3.) The TD is looking a bit crooked and needs to be straightened. Again this is probably from donning the armor. When you take your approval photos have the person taking them make sure your various bits and bobs are aligned. 4.) You got the dreaded cod crinkles. There are some good methods to keep that from occurring. I inserted a thin layer of shaped plastic in my cod to help with that but that's not the only method. Check with an armorer or a garrison mate that's a Pathfinder. 5.) Your flight suit is bunching up above the knees. A good method is when you put your knee armor on pull the fabric taught then put on your boots. I added some stirrups into my flight suit legs to help keep them tight. 6.) I still think your pouches could move in a tad. Align them with the outside seams on your bund. 7.) I just noticed that your right boot (blaster) velcro is reversed. It should be left over right (from the front). I don't think that will affect basic approval but you'll want to fix it before you submit for Lancer. I hope this helps brother. Just a few minor fitment tweaks and most of those come from just putting it on and adjusting. As I mentioned you are looking really good!
  18. Thank you for the compliments. I couldn't have done it without all the great support found here on BS.N and the talented folks who's build threads I referenced. Look forward to seeing your approvals as Pathfinders!
  19. Head over to the armory and look through the soft armor threads for the flight suit, vest, and cummerbund and you'll be able to research some of the providers who do good work and are honest business folk:)
