  1. That's fine doing the vest first. There is a tutorial for the bund here: and if you can do the vest you'll be just fine making the bund. @BikerScout007 is a jedi master of the bund and it's various measurements and materials so feel free to reach out here or with ST6. The bund and pouches are front and center on your scout so you want that to look sharp😉
  2. The vest is looking good. Nice work in figuring out the sleeve attachment! Once you get your bund done I would recommend doing a soft armor fitting so you can work out if you need to add velcro to hold the bund and cod if you decide to go that route.
  3. You are correct. You want either 3/4" or 1" ribbed strapping. The upper strap you mentioned is for the ROTJ Scout only and even then it's optional so if kits have been converted that's why you might see it. Knee Armor Gloss white or semi-gloss. Moderate to heavy desert-brown toned weathering. Black elastic is used to secure the armor around the leg. Worn upside-down. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Weathering adheres to production sources. Black elastic measures either 3/4 or 1 inch and is ribbed.
  4. Hi Jay! The WTF tank topper is known to be oversize. It's not a problem for basic approval but it wouldn't be approvable for Lancer (lvl2). To attach the tank topper you'll need to drill through the topper and tank then install a rivet/washer combo as shown in the CRL here: https://databank.501st.com/mw501/images/2/2f/TB_tank_greeblie.jpg When you install the rivet you can add a piece of 1/2 inch elastic then run it over the back of the armor and attach to the inside. Note that the elastic is optional for basic and Lancer and you don't have to include it unless you really want it. The rivet on the bottom of the tank can be blind if necessary. Some folks attach the tank using velcro (pulled into the back armor), some folks use E6000, and some folks rivet it if they have enough "meat" to run the rivet into between the tank and armor. If you don't have enough you could split the tank so use caution if using this method. There are some great build threads that use all these methods. Your build is going along really well so keep up the great work!!
  5. Thanks for bringing that up @Chopper I thought the same thing when I read that in the CRL but forgot to add that to the post. Frank, if you can't pinpoint a hose at your local hose-mart I picked one up off of Amazon. I'm glad Chopper added that correction as I had a wrapped TD and I totally get what you were saying about it being heavy because mine sure was! I think you'll be happier with a regular tube.
  6. Hi Frank. Yeah the wrapped TD's are very heavy so you will want to add clips to the tube to bear some of that weight. The zip tie will go through the center of the TD as shown here: https://databank.501st.com/databank/File:Mando_scout_TD.png Looking at the caps they look like they could use a sanding stick to round them out a bit more or maybe some trimming. The caps tend to run a bit larger than the tubes so I think you're fine there. The TD greeblies can go on either side of the housing so you can make that determination when you get to that point. This is a great build thread and I think it's great that you've been so thorough. It's threads like this that are a great help to those coming behind so thank you for taking the time!
  7. You're correct. The drop box webbing and chest armor webbing is cotton 1.5in wide and the shoulder straps can be 0.5in to 1in. The belt is attached with 2" nylon/polypropylene webbing. The cotton you have is just fine to use.
  8. Off to a great start! Remember slow and easy wins the race so take your time and let us know if you need anything. If you haven't had had the opportunity I would recommend reaching out to your local Garrison which for you is the Carolina Garrison here: http://www.carolinagarrison.net/ They are the folks that will be approving your costume for entry into the 501st. Get a forum account and get to know your local troopers. Keep up the great work. We're looking forward to seeing you progress on this build!
  9. Genius getting ST6 involved. Those are some talented folks. I'm glad it's only some grime! Looking forward to seeing you complete this. Great work! Keep it up and you'll be approved before you know it.
  10. Way to adapt and overcome Kevin! On that right image is there some cracking happening at the cap? I can't tell from the photos. You should be proud of what you accomplished! It takes a lot of courage and perseverance to get through a fiddly build and you've done it swimmingly!
  11. Hey Kevin. Looking at the bucket I don't think that right side is going to pass basic. It's much too short. It should align with the faceplate to the edge. Take a look at the CRL helmet picture here: Now in the words of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy DON'T PANIC!! There are some options here. Now I see that you got SC armor which is good. You can contact them and get a replacement visor that you can retrim to fit. Another option would be to try and bring that right side over more but that would require some additional trimming and you may not have enough "meat" there to trim it out. @Chopper @MrPoopie what do you think?
  12. Oof! Yeah you should be able to repair that. Since that area takes some stress I would recommend using a plastic epoxy rather than CA glue. specially if you plan to open your visor. You can get some at most hardware stores. It's indeed fixable though so don't fret too much. @Chopper is the master of ABS slurry so I'll defer to him on the best way to use that concoction.
  13. Chopper makes some good points. For comparison check out the Scoutipedia [http://www.501stpathfinders.com/scoutopedia.php] page using the link at the top of the forum. In the drop down there select blaster then check out the pics especially the Hero Blaster Info pic at the bottom. That will give you a good guide of how the blaster should look.
  14. Congrats Pathfinder! Well done Eri!
  15. I think you are as well! Best of luck with your approval. You shouldn't have any issues at all!
  16. Hahahaha you'll have to make a mini version of a cummerbund so Cookie has a place to lay and won't get mad at you when you take it up for a troop. Soft armor pet beds they'll sell like crazy!😆
  17. I 100% agree with Chopper. I don't see your GML having any issues over this. Even your kitty approves! Best of luck to you!
  18. Glad to help. Checking the CRL it seems that the straps are hand weathered rather than "dipped" but you might want to check with your GML if you'd like to give them a deeper weathering. Also I think your buckles might be backwards from what the CRL states for them: (4) black parachute buckles attach to the drop box straps, one on either side of the drop box: Rear parachute buckles are threaded with the white webbing straps in front of the buckle. Might want to give them a look against the CRL [https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Scout-Trooper-The-Mandalorian] to ensure they are configured correctly. Your build is going great so keep up the fantastic work!!
  19. Don't forget to give the drop box straps some weathering along with your bund. On my knees (ROTJ Scout) I use velcro to adjust it. You can always sew some hook to your straps and then apply adhesive loop to the insides of your knees. That way you can adjust the strapping to your comfort. @Chopper created a great strapping primer here: You can find some good ideas in this article.
  20. That's looking pretty good. You can take a warm iron and smooth it out to give you that worn I just got out of the Dune Sea look. With Chopper being MEPD Deployed you got the right guy to give pointers on being dirty😁
  21. Mickey is right on point because that's what we're here for and there are so many, including us, that have gone down that path. One thing I can also recommend is to reach out to your local Garrison for support as well. They are the ones that will be approving you to join so it's best to also reach out to them. As your profile indicates that you're in WA your garrison will be Garrison Titan [https://garrisontitan.com/] . Take a few minutes to join their forums and introduce yourself and mention that you're also over at the Pathfinders Detachment and learning the ropes. We're here to help you be successful so be sure to let us know if you need help.
  22. Buckets off. Condolences to family and friends.
