And yet another option: Along with the flat laces, I also used those barrel cinch things like on a sleeping bag drawstring. That way I didn't have to even TIE the laces. Also....don't do like me and get E6000 on the laces or you won't be able to cinch 'em up at all.

I went ahead and grabbed that sateen. I'll be back around soon--gotta get re-approved out of retirement and all. Really hoping to get back in time for the Fiesta Bowl parade!

Yep that’s the same fabric they showed me. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I've noticed that the Lancer spec for the bund/cod material is given as polished or mercerized cotton. IIRC, when I made Lancer that wasn't a requirement, but the consensus was the material was smooth and shiny (ie not canvas). I went with taffeta, which many had supposed to be the screen-used fabric. Would my taffeta soft goods pass Lancer specs today? I stopped by JoAnn's the other day looking for polished cotton and was shown "Sateen" cotton. To me it just looks like a really tight weaved cotton, like a bedsheet. If Sateen is out, where are y'all getting "polished cotton" at?

You mean, not in your size? Amazon

Lawless Scout's ART patch challenge.
kayelbe replied to Lawless Scout's topic in Advance Recon Teams
Didn't I send you one for the Rathtar Riders (DSG)? -
You are basically just hiding your neck/chin area. Heck, a really high turtleneck would probably work, lol.

I always wondered why the Pathfinders didn't have a "Level 3". What about taking all of the recently added "Optional, but recommended" and create a new level of achievement? Basically, take the circa 2016 Lancer requirements and make those "Level 2", and then the uber-accurate requirements would grant "Level 3".

Aw, c'mon. I've seen your WIP thread. You have already worn the majority of it! The armor doesn't really restrict movement. It was designed with movement and agility in mind, after all. You can do most if not all of the things in your list (no experience hurdling Ewoks, here).

They look better if they hang. And, you're correct--they do hang on screen.

No idea of the dimensions, but perhaps a kid-size belt from WTF? It would probably look undersized, especially if you are average male adult height. Just an idea.

I agree with the above. The common mistake many prospective scouts make is that they want to wear the belt like they do on a pair of pants. It goes higher, and actually sets on the top of the hip bones. This in turn would raise the bund up and eliminate the gap between the chest/back armor and the bund. Oh, and I would add: The cod piece is fine, BUT I prefer them to be more padded. With more padding it looks more like armor and less like a diaper, to me. The right boot is experiencing "holster sag". What many have done is put a piece of elastic with velcro tabs inside that you can strap the holster side to your leg and then close the boot tops in back. Works very, very well. Lastly, it may be the pic, but is there any suede? Definitely need that! Good luck!

Lots of us have that combo. It will be fine

You are right on the about greeble. It isnt all black for the standard scout.

Looks like one last question unanswered, so I'll jump in! Fans are generally not a necessity with the scout bucket. The design lends itself to natural ventilation. I live in the Phoenix, Arizona Metro area, and have trooped two summers here with no need for bucket fans. In fact, all the soft armor layers were the real heat trap.

+1 for the long size!

I'm on a work computer, so if you have included images they would be blocked... Do you have images? Where is the vinyl bunching?
-
I did mine with a straight, tight stitch (sorry, not a professional sewer-guy, so whatever the term is, the stitches are close together). Use a black thread, really close to the edge. The straps should be tight-ish when worn. Not quite stretched, but definitely not sagging. Check out Lancer threads for the best examples.

Congrats, Pete!

Just get one of these.

This doesn't help much, but my Diamond State Props DLT-19 has aluminum t-tracks. They look to be sourced from an existing item, not sure what though.
-
Overall the sizes are close, but several people (myself included) had to switch to a long. Soprano Scouts aren't canon, apparently.
-
The way I read it, it's either a DLT-19 (like what you have pictured), or a DLT-19X (like what you described).

If you look closely at your reference pick youll see SC modified their topper. The wgite circle uses yo be a decal. Its now molded as a hole. The "button" is now molded in olace, whereas it uses to be a separate piece you placed in the slot.

The belt lies on your hips, not where a belt would go on say a pair of pants. The current theory is that the cod is separate from the bund. I, along with many others, attached the cod to the vest in front, while the elastic goes down and around to a clip connection. The other clip is attached via a strap seen to one flap of the back of the vest. The elastic strap goes over the butt flap. Do not cut anything!
