Ryi'nocks Biker Scout WIP [Approval Ready?]
BikerScout007 replied to Ryi'nock's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
Congrats buddy, access upgraded to full Pathfinder! -
I would consider it "medium to heavy". I think yours is fine. Get it in the daylight with some photos and I'm sure it will look like what we've seen on the show. Folks, our CRLs are only in comparison to themselves. What you've all read in other Detachments doesn't apply here. "Light weathering" is what we call ROTJ Biker Scout weathering. A few mists with the black rattle can here or there. The Patrol Trooper also has "light weathering" -- some dirt here or there but overall still pretty white. The Shoretrooper would be in the medium range. The Mando Scout would fall under medium to heavy. The dirt is heavily built up in the crevices (just look at the knees and cummerbund) and the armor is almost totally discolored. Look how the Mando Scout looks almost completely tea-stained in comparison to the Stormtrooper to his right.

That's not light. That is definitely medium to heavy. The amount of weathering you have to do on a set of armor in order to get it to show up on camera is substantial. Ask anyone who has weathered a Shoretrooper, and saw their first picture of themselves in it only to realize that they look like an action figure fresh out of the box. Light weathering would be what you see on a typical Biker Scout in ROTJ. It's in a few spots, blink and you miss it. The weathering on the Mando scout fills every crease and completely discolors the armor itself so that the white is almost gone. Here's a picture of the armor without all the lighting and color correction from the show: If someone tried to pass an ROTJ Scout like that we would reject it for being too heavy.

I'm willing to put the "missing cover" bit if we can confirm without a doubt. But even so, seems like it would be a Level 2 detail. If a white button passes at a glance, that's probably good for L1. And again let me just note my amusement at the level of accuracy demanded for this costume Too bad the producers didn't put that much thought into it

I ordered it from the UK on eBay. Set me back about $25. The things we do for accuracy.... -
Pathfinders Virtual Armor Party -- 8 August 2020!!

Ah that's a shame! I think it was the first time many of us had used Google Meetups so there were more than a few technical issues. Hopefully you all can join us for the next one. -
BikerScout007's Shoretrooper Captain build

Chin cup time! I painted it black and then switched out the original strap with 1/2 inch black elastic. Since I kept the liner inside my Anovos bucket, I just needed to sew some Velcro onto the ends of the elastic to secure it to the bucket. -
The M plates I had to get separately. PM me and I will send to you. The trigger guard was wrong but has been corrected.

SDCC Mandalorian Scout Reference
BikerScout007 replied to Whiskey's topic in Scout Trooper: "The Mandalorian" HQ
The problem with the SDCC scout is that we don't know what was done to it to get it ready for display. Or what state it was in when they got it from the production. We had similar issues with the many Shoretrooper armors that were on display after Rogue One -- they had little odds and ends that were different than what we saw on screen. At the end of the day, what we see on the screen is what we go by. -
They are indeed!

I just printed Sean Fields' E-22 and that is totally approvable. I'm looking at these files and nothing really jumps out at me as being off. @ScaryGuy @KOtrooper this look okay to you?

I don't believe there is a maker who supplies a Shoretrooper kit from top to bottom with everything you need for approval. It sounds like your best bet would be try to buy a kit off a trooper who was selling theirs. That being said, even if a trooper was approved in a kit, that's no guarantee that you would be approved in it. Every costume needs to be adjusted so that it looks best on the person submitting it for approval. If you are looking for used kits for sale, this would be the best place: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/155-trade-forum/ Good luck!

I'm waiting for @MrPoopie to chime in as he is not only our 3D printing expert but he has deep knowledge of the Patrol Trooper. I don't love that back piece. It seems really off proportion wise. As it's identical to the Shoretrooper, maybe try out Sean Fields' files for the back armor. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/27klw0a6voyqbtr/AACNrwrXNihtwHK-gm1jveP3a/Shoretrooper Back?dl=0&subfolder_nav_tracking=1

The Ultimate Armor Comparison Thread!
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Since the armor is all held on with strapping, it's highly adjustable. Height doesn't really come into play, unless you are very short. A lot of people get hung up on the size of the armor but it's the rare person who has armor that is too small for them. What we mostly deal with are people with armor that is way too big. Kropserkel and WTF sets have this problem very often. For instance the chest armor -- that's a bit of a misnomer as the armor doesn't cover your chest. It should come down to the bottom of your pectorals and that's it. The rest of the chest is covered by soft goods. Check out this thread to get an idea on proportions: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19967-soft-parts-best-practices/ -
