  1. Hey Pathfinders While I was researching the old Lancer apps for the Certificates, I realized I was having trouble determining who was making the decisions at certain times back in the day. I don't want any of our Detachment's history to be lost, so working in conjunction with former DL and LONGTIME (and I mean back to the Yahoo Group days) Pathfinder @BrotherHalo, we created a Detachment Leaders section of the Hall of Fame to honor those that have led this place in the past and give a sense of history to this great Detachment, one of the very oldest in the 501st. I had to use placeholder images for 3 of the former DLs, but if I come across images of them in armor I will replace those. The Detachment Leaders may be found between the "Rangers" and "Retired Armors" sections: https://www.501stpathfinders.com/level2.php
  2. Probably keep it clean for now. That weathering is so specific and so unforgiving that it just looks bad if it's not done right.
  3. I'm just glad I finally have the armor to match my helmet
  4. Brown Box Day! Really impressed how fast they turned this around. About 3 weeks from ordering to finding it on my doorstep! This was the kit version they offered a few weeks back, so I get to assemble it all myself!
  5. Needs some sanding and finishing, but that's a great start!
  6. Okay folks! I sent out all 51 Certificates that were achieved under my tenure as DL (starting March 2018). If anyone wants a Certificate they earned PRIOR to March 2018, just send me a PM EDIT: Looks like I missed a few folks due to them not having pictures on the Hall of Fame. Which is where I culled my original list from. If I missed you, please just shoot me a PM and I'll get you your certificate AND your pic in the HoF!
  7. Okay thanks to the power of caffeine I've managed to create all 49 certificates for Pathfinders that made the Hall of Fame under my tenure as DL (so March 2018 to the present). I will begin emailing those out soon so make sure your profile email is up to date! For any Hall of Famer that made it prior to March 2018, send me a PM and we'll get you sorted.
  8. Yeah looking at it again I can totally see that. I'll try to get some visual confirmation but lets go with 5
  9. CG knee looks different than the real life one, for sure. Is there 4 ribs? That seems to be the right number. Looking good!
  10. Hey Pathfinders I'm really excited about this! We just got approval from the Legion for Pathfinders Certificates of Achievement. They will be issued to any Pathfinder who makes it onto the Hall of Fame -- so either by achieving Level 2 with their costume or becoming a Ranger. I will send you your Certificate as a PNG file for you to have printed or to post on Social media. I won't be sending out physical copies at this time, sorry! I'm going to issue a Certificate to anyone who made it to the Hall of Fame under my tenure (so since 2018) automatically. Anyone prior to that, I will happily send you one if you PM me. I spent the past weekend painstakingly going through every Lancer application since 2007 to get the names of all our current Lancers and when they were awarded the rank. I've also updated the Hall of Fame and moved quite a few troopers down to the Retired Armors section. Please allow me some time to get caught up to the present. By my count I have had 49 Pathfinders reach the Hall of Fame on my watch (that are still active and not retired). So it might take me a minute. And please make sure your email info is up to date! Tip of the Lance!
  11. Sure. When I revise the CRL to add L2 requirements I can add this to Optional accessories
  12. Both ways are acceptable for Lancer. The idea is not to imitate the originals exactly but just to get the general idea down. Many hiking boots have no teeth at all so adding them just gives them a little more accuracy. No template as far as I know. Just look at the photos in the Scoutopedia and do your best imitation.
  13. Not on the forum. Someone should probably grab some screenshots from the film As far as I can tell -- yes. They look like the same boots and spats that the regular FOTK wears. Though I am by no means an expert on that costume. Overall, the CGI trooper looks like a standard First Order TK except for the white pants and the knees, and a slightly different paint scheme on some of the armor pieces. The real life trooper looks like the simpler build other than the boots. And more comfortable.
  14. Oh I'm fine with the fins being a Level 2 detail. You can press on.
  15. @M.J you were a star! Thanks for joining us and answering so many questions.
  16. This is what I used. But @KOtrooper's solution sounds so much better! Melody you need to sell those!
  17. No we aren't mixing them. If the boots are an issue, let's focus on the CGI one. I have someone else that will hopefully be doing the live action variant at some point and they already have the boots. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk
  18. That's fine. We would only require the exact helmet for Level 2. A TFA should be fine for our purposes. We're not FISD so our requirement are going to be a little different. At this point I just want to get this one done!
  19. A lot of us get it from Tandy Leather.
  20. I used Lexan scissors to cut mine and then I hot glued it inside my helmet. But I've since replaced it with the Mr Paul lens, which I also hot glued inside.
  21. That's excellent news. Good customer service on Denis' part.
  22. I think it looks good. A Scout helmet is never going to be perfectly symmetrical -- they certainly weren't in the movie! The goal is to be close enough and I think you're there.
  23. Check out Strider's Lancer build tutorial, though there are others: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17305-lancer-build-tutorial/&do=findComment&comment=159098
  24. Elastic size came from what Chris said he used, because he was the only person to offer up a suggestion at that point. Yeah 3/4 makes sense. I can also make the ribbed elastic a requirement. That's totally fine. Nothing is set in stone here until it's set in set in stone. And even then things change all the time. I was chatting with Steph last night about all the parts she made for the show and I will be incorporating those notes into the L2 CRL. We are just going to be calling for single-colored sole work boots. We would never ask for specific brands to be purchased or specific armor or helmets. I'll add the extra stitch on the bund flap Yeah for the chest looks like they jammed a 2 inch slot into a smaller notch. Chest notch can be optional, that's fine. I'll remove the white circle Pouch attachment method will be noted Glove clip will be noted Thanks, these are all very helpful! Finally I've seen a couple of suggestions from people to put mentions along the lines of "this should not appear as it does on the ROTJ scout" --- folks, we put what is in a costume when we do a CRL, not what isn't. Not everyone is going to read both CRLs, so if we are putting info like "there shouldn't be an elastic strap around the tank" or "there's no bottom rivet like on the ROTJ tank", then people who don't read the ROTJ CRL are going to be like "huh?" A lot of people building this costume have never built another Pathfinder costume before, don't hang out on this forum and aren't familiar with the intricacies of our main Scout. So we don't want to confuse anyone with extraneous details. The K.I.S.S. principle is always the rule of the day around here.
