Not much room for scout bags on cumberbund
BikerScout007 replied to Torm's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
If you think that your pouches are going to be too small then they are probably the right size. The majority of folks out there have pouches that are way too big. Even mine are too big I just haven't gotten around to replacing them yet. The pouches should fit in the gap between the bottom of your armor and the top of your belt -- WHEN THE BELT IS WORN ACROSS YOUR WAIST -- not down on the hips as is the fashion these days. A minimum of overhang is fine. Look at some actual movie scouts and you'll see what I mean: The pouches just aren't all that big. -
TB-51780 requested Lancer Status (PENDING)

Okay buddy, here goes: 1) Your vest sleeves seem maybe a touch baggy. And is the left sleeve hanging lower than the right? 2) Your rivet washers need to be INSIDE the boot. Also, the holster is too far down. It should be closer to the top of the boot. 3) Your codpiece is crumpling. You need to lengthen the strap and maybe put some foam or something inside of it to stop that from happening. We don't go for the diaper look when it comes to Lancer! 4) Your chest straps need to be the same as your dropbox straps -- cotton and 1.5 inches. 5) I know you are using the velcro to hold your blaster in place but for Lancer the blaster needs to look movie accurate. Maybe try a magnet in the handle instead. 6) Just makes sure arm armor is turned forward and work closer together in your next round of shots. Shoulders should be evenly balanced; bicep armor should be on your bicep, not your elbow; and forearm armor should start right below the bicep and not run so far down the glove. Good build, man! Just a few nits -
Hey Sandy! Just some nits: 1) Helmet bolts - switch them out for 3M replicas. Your buddy Kevin has some 2) The cod piece is a bit narrow at the top. And the curve looks dangerously close to a chevron. I can see where it's still rounded but you may want to adjust it to be closer to the Costumes book 3) The vest neckline should be a half moon. or at least straight across. 4) Make sure the forearm stays closer to the the bicep and doesnt slide too far down the glove. Here are some extra credit things that haven't been put into the specs yet but will be soon: a. Boot soles cut on the front b. Scope on the blaster is too far forward, the turrets should butt up to the ring. This is an issue with Hyperfirm blasters generally speaking

Making a new Bikerscout armor

That's so beautiful I'm going to cry -
that guy was wearing special rubber armor because he was about to get flipped by Harrison Ford. They seemed to not have dressed him as carefully as the regular scouts

Good job with your build man! Universal acclaim from everyone on staff. There's just an issue with your visor bolts not being the right size. Are those the 3M replacement bolts? Or coach bolts? They seem slightly too big. -
Oh definitely! Huge improvement and a needed move in the right direction. The current "Lancer" pattern really only runs down the inside of the thigh and doesn't extend high enough or out far enough on the thigh.
-
The pattern looks too low. It should go up closer to the scout's waistline, which here you can see clearly by the band on the suit He would have to wear his belt way too low to get it to match the Costumes book look: But heck yeah! Huge improvement. Maybe just an inch or two up

You don't really see it in the front at all in the film. Just from the back. There aren't many armor makers that really capture the chest armor well, but the movie chest armor rides up much higher than most of the fan sculpts and the neckline is rounded rather than squared -- so being so close the neck really hides the vest from view in the front. In the back it is definitely visible in some shots, I thought I had a screen capture in my photobucket but I can't find it.

I'd go SC on armor.

Okay here we go: 1) First and foremost -- your vest sleeves are too long and are ballooning out from under your shoulder bells. They are also covering up your bicep armor. 2) For your height, I think your pouches are a bit too big for you. They should fit pretty squarely in between your chest armor and belt with just a little overhang. 3) Your thigh straps are too low. They should be pointing more toward the bottom of the codpiece. Raise them up about 3 inches or so. 4) Your riding patches don't seem to be coming around the back of your legs at all. Or this could be because your suit legs are very baggy and maybe it's crumpled up in the fabric? You need to get some of that bagginess out of the legs (stirrups around your feet may help too) 5) I know snaps are wonderful but we want that extra knee strap actually riveted in place 6) Your boot shafts are too tight and too low. They should be a bit looser and extend up so that they are only about an inch below the knee armor. 7) And just general tidiness for your next round of pics: arm armor should be turned forward and positioned so that your bicep armor is on your bicep and that your forearm armor is just barely overlapping the glove. Shoulder bells should also be turned more forward. Make sure your bund does not droop below your belt -- it may be too long. I know you realized there was a dropbox issue. Make sure they are balanced on both sides and not sitting so far forward on your legs. Thanks for your application and good luck with this round of changes! -
Advance Recon Team (ART) discussion
BikerScout007 replied to BikerScout007's topic in Advance Recon Teams
Garrison politics are, obviously, something we can't get involved in. The ARTs, however, are local branches of the Detachment. If your GCO has any questions about the role and purpose of the ART, Chex or I would be glad to talk to them about it. You can tell them it is the equivalent of a TK Fire team, if that helps -
Not a fan of the t-straps since that's a carryover from the TKs and not what the Biker Scouts used. The scouts used zipties: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=15429

Okay man, here's your shopping list: 1) Your shoulder bells seem to be "popping off" your vest sleeves? Maybe zipties joins to the shoulder bridges or a tighter strap to pull them in closer? 2) The shoulder bell corners should be rounded off too 3) Your belt should be worn a bit higher to meet the bottom of your pouches, but then it would seem your bund would stick out below the belt? It seems it is doing that now so maybe a shorter bund is in order 4) And while on the bund -- is the close left over right? It should be right over left. That applies to the vest as well. 5) The codpiece is crumpling up at the bottom where it meets the strap. Maybe put some foam in there to keep that from happening. 6) Your pouch flaps seem to not be identical. The right flap is narrower than the left flap. 7) Makes sure your drop boxes are even on both sides in the next round of pics 8) Is that nylon webbing on your knee armor? Change that out for elastic. 9) Do the trap decals on your helmet have the black outline around them? If so they need to be swapped out. 10) Bolt holster rivets need to be silver and not white. 11) The scope on your blaster seems to be a bit skinny....is that how KS makes them? 12) And just overall for the next round of photos you'll want to pull up the bicep armor and turn it forward, as well as bring up the forearms armor as well. Looking good! A lot of this stuff is nitpicky but hey, Lancer usually is
