  1. Little bit of painting today! I used Kevin Weir's blue he had made for his kits and Toyota red on the bicep. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  2. The straps that hang from the belt and hold the two hip boxes in place. We call them drop boxes and drop box straps. We usually use 1.5 inch cotton webbing for those and the parachute buckles on those straps look a bit odd too. Could be the angle and I'm looking at this on the phone!
  3. Looking sharp, Scout! Dropbox straps are a little odd. Probably should change those out if you want to go for Lancer. The clips too.
  4. Hey Craig, thanks for chiming in! The colors we have on the CRL are just the recommended ones. We really just ask that you come as close as you can. We realize the difficulty in getting the same spray paints in every country. We have the same issue with the Shore trooper, where the blue is fairly hard to obtain outside of Europe. if we can get codes for the colors and post them up, we definitely will! Well there's sense, and then there's Star Wars! It's very hard to tell from the film. The Kashyyyk scenes have a bluish tinge to them and of course, the characters are all CGI. So we have to then rely on secondary sources like the toys. And the ones I've seen the cummerbunds are gray. At the bare minimum a stone color. But I think this one is definitely open for discussion with the Armor team and we'll see what we can come up with. Yes stitching is totally fine. We just put "dotted" lines in case someone wanted to do it with paint. The point is just to have the dotted lines, the method is not important. Once again thanks for the good points. This new CRL has just been posted in the Wiki but we are still open to suggestions.
  5. Finally got a chance to get back on this. Decided to tackle the bicep armor. I cut some notches out of the lower piece so they would fit together better. I assembled each bicep differently. On one I used scrap abs and abs cement to put them together. It worked but I found the process time consuming and not very neat. So for the other I used 3M double sided tape! I'll see which holds up better Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  6. UKG has those exceptions because they were grandfathered in when they were incorporated into the Legion. My garrison. Southern California, has made it clear that if you are doing a Legion activity, you must follow the CRL. Most garrisons are the same. And the Legion overall has been moving in this direction. But again this is for when you are doing an official Legion activity. My ART, Scout Team Six, has special patches we wear on our shoulder bells when we have non Legion appearances. Like at a local convention. We are not permitted to wear these when doing an official troop. But if you have a question, ask your Garrison command.
  7. Correct! Scouts don't wear pauldrons on screen so we don't wear them on troops. If you wanted to wear a pauldron with your scout costume in some unofficial capacity, you are free to do that. But any Legion appearances must follow the CRL.
  8. Short answer is no. The 501st is closer to reenactors than cosplayers. To be approved and to participate in trooping, your costume must be screen accurate. But as @Chopper said, you can do what you want with your armor. And wear it to conventions and the like. Just not as part of the Legion. One of our members 3d printed a Samurai Scout armor that he wears at conventions. But that's just for fun. There are other SW clubs that let you create your own characters, but that's not what the Legion is about. And I have to disagree with your premise. There is nothing cooler or more imposing than seeing a parade of uniformed Scouts all massed together!
  9. On behalf of Pathfinders Command, it is my pleasure to welcome Cody"The Wayner" (TB-42472) to the illustrious ranks of the Lancer scouts! Great job, @The Wayner. Make sure you send a picture of your coolest pose to @Shortstack for addition to the Pathfinders Hall of Fame. Check out his application here
  10. Give this a read
  11. To apply for the 41st Elite Corps within the 501st Pathfinder Detachment, please follow the steps outlined below: First, you must be approved for the costume you are applying for. If you aren't, get approved through your local Garrison. Post a thread in this section with your specific build details (i.e., title = "[CB-ID] 41st Elite Request"). Make sure to list the maker of the armor, all parts and pieces in the build, and any other relevant information for your application. Include clear build images. It's usually best to post pics on an image hosting service like Imgur, Photobucket, or Flickr and link them in the thread. Only the applicant and Level 2 Review Team can comment on your thread. ALL other comments will be removed. The Level 2 Review team will be in touch with feedback. Once approved, the status of your application will be "APPROVED". An announcement to the forum will be made and your action pic will be posted to the Pathfinder Hall of Fame.

  12. Hey Pathfinders and soon-to-be Pathfinders! After popular demand, we have moved the Level 2 application forums out from behind the Pathfinder wall so that any Pathfinder Detachment member may see them. We had several requests for this from people who were doing builds and wanted to learn from the best how to avoid mistakes. We are happy to open these up to everyone in the hopes they will lead to better builds all around. The Level 2 forums may be found in the Armory section for that costume. A couple of caveats. Level 2 applications are for the applicant and the Level 2 Review team members to respond to ONLY. Any comments from any other user will be removed. I have shut off permissions to post to almost everyone except for members of the class in question (Example, only 501st Biker Scouts can post in the Lancer app thread, only 501st Shoretroopers can post in the Vanguard thread, etc). But anyone will be able to see the applications and hopefully learn from them. This is a trial basis thing and there will be bugs to work out, but I hope it leads to a better result overall. Pathfinders United!
  13. There is a lot of places to save money on this costume, but the armor is not usually one of them. Soft goods are where you can really save if you do most yourself. This is not a cheap hobby unfortunately, and the Legion's standards of screen accuracy mean we can only cut so many corners. Keep an eye out on the trade forum for people selling their kits. That's probably your best bet for getting a good set of armor for a lower price. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
  14. 😮 I'd say hard pass on that.
  15. This is excellent, Justin!
  16. That would be excellent! We really want to give this costume a push and we hope the new CRL will help do that
  17. Great! Just keep in mind that this CRL is not finalized yet. There may be some adjustments made before it "goes green" as we say.
  18. Hey Kashyyyks! The Armor Team is proud to present the long-awaited, top-to-bottom revision to the Kashyyyk CRL. And this time, we have added a Level 2 so that our Kashyyyks can reach the same level of achievement as our Lancers and Vanguards! Some of the things that were required in Level 1 have been moved to Level 2 due to changes in how the Legion wants us to draft CRLs. Example, specific measurements, paints and fabrics must be Level 2 details under their rules. So you may find that your Kashyyyk already meets the Level 2 standards. In keeping with the spirit of the films, the Kashyyyk Level 2 will be called "41st Elite". A section on the Pathfinder Hall of Fame will be created for members that reach this achievement. And yes -- patches and pins will follow once we have the numbers to justify the expense! So please take a look at the draft, which is currently under review by the LMOs. And if you have suggestions, we are all ears! The following costume components are present and appear as described below. Helmet Camo pattern to simulate on-screen troopers. 19. I do the elastic loop to hold my tank to the back of my armor. It's not an SC kit but that method should work and it is screen accurate. When I am out on troops the tank slides around all over and people try to fix it for me. And I'm like "Don't! Have you seen the movie? Those tanks were all over the place!"
  20. Thanks for your application, Cody! The Level 2 review team will review and get back to you
  21. That is a 10-4. Not only do i own the RS, but it fits my big head just fine. CFO is a similar size.
  22. Based on all the ball caps I've worn, I'd say I have an average sized head. I'm looking at the CFO/Lonewolf You'll be fine
  23. Yeah but I'm not sure it's necessary unless you have a REALLY large head, in which case, you'd probably know that by now! My cranium is on the large size and I'd say the only helmet I'd steer clear from is Studio Creations. What buckets were you looking at?
  24. Here's the little secret about the Scout that some people have a hard time accepting: It's really a soft costume, so the most important thing is getting that right. The armor parts that we do have are all held by straps that are very forgiving for a wide variety of body types. I think people make the mistake of thinking that they need "BIG" armor. The scout armor is small. The chest piece in particular. i think most makers make them too big. The thing should fit like a bra, and stop at your pectorals. If it's going halfway down your torso, it's never going to look right. Easiest kit and most forgiving right out of the box is probably Studio Creations. But check out those links I showed you and shop around.
