  1. what is this decal for? I dont recall seeing it on a biker scout helmet, whats it for?
  2. yeah so did I.......I took a razor blade and scraped it off until it looked good.
  3. yeah things happen, I'm not upset about it, he has a good reputation here so I'm not worried.
  4. after really looking over the snout piece and looking at other pieces DVH has made and pics posted on this site I see mine has bubbles on the fins and other areas really making it look bad, so I have PM'd Lou and hopefully we can get it sorted...
  5. k, got the snout piece painted and on......as good as it's going to get I'm afraid.....
  6. I left mine on for about 3 days or so, because I taped it and then set it aside and couldnt get back to it soon enough. Also, it might help if you spray on a coat of gloss white to seal the edges before hitting it with the black to minimize run under....
  7. something I learned with mine, dont let the tape sit too long before you paint it, it starts to lose it's tackiness and comes away from the helmet........ask me how I know...
  8. man, I JUST went through this too and it IS a pain, good luck on yours!
  9. all I used was Krylon primer for my "grey" as thats what everyone else seemed to use....thats when I saw the holes. I think it will be okay tho, seems the heavy paint filled in most of them.
  10. yes, I used dish detergent to clean it up, just seems theres a bunch of pin holes in it (its a DVH) but, I found if I cake on the paint it fills most of them up pretty well with out losing much detail.....I would have prepped it better if I had been able to see the holes but being a black cast I never saw them.....
  11. Okay, decals on, I'm 90% there, need to add the 3M bolt covers, snout piece installed, and the rear barcode decal installed (again) once it gets here. Heres a pic of it in it's home.....
  12. Okay, I turned the oven on 300 degrees and put two small bowls in there and bridged the bowels with the lens material from TrooperBay. I kept an eye on it, checked it every few seconds and when it started to droop between the two bowels I took it out (with an oven mitt) and laid it into the face of the helmet then applied pressure holding it down, then when it cooled, I hot glued it into place.
  13. k, after a few min tweaking it, I got this, this isnt too bad, not perfect but doesnt make me sick...
  14. Sigh.......... And so after very carefully masking my snout, doing it twice, double checking it, applying a base white coat to seal the edges and then lightly spraying 2 coats of satan black, I got this................mess........ I dont even know how to fix this.......maybe I can get a fine tipped brush and try to clean up the edges with some white....
  15. I cleaned the DVH snout piece with detergent to remove any residue that was on it, let it air dry for a few days and today I go out side ready to paint it, all happy and everything, I hit it with a coat of paint and these little black dots are every-freekin-where on this thing, it's pin-hole city! WTH?? this helmet when/if finished is either going to be very nice and something that I can be proud of, or a $450 POS that mocks me every day I look at it.......
  16. its a lil tight getting on but once on it's very roomy, lots of room for padding, but, I dont really have a big head so it's hard for me to judge. I have to take my glasses off to slide it on but once on, very roomy
  17. I got mine straight from MLC himself not MonCal and had it in hand in about 5 weeks
  18. ^^meh, I'm glad I didnt get it, I really like my MLC
  19. I'm almost positive when I contacted him he offered to assemble it for a fee for me......
  20. argh.....okay, I was working on forming the visor and the hair dryer just isnt heating up the Trooperbay visor enough to make it pliable, so, do I NEED a heat gun for this because I dont really know where to go from here. The visor was very hot but never reached pliable, wouldnt hold the curve at all and went right back to flat when I released pressure after cooling......
  21. with mine I ordered a DV snout, a set of accurate hardware, a set of Trooperbay decals and Trooperbay visor, you'll need to paint the snout and apply the greeblie piece, cut and form the visor and attach it, and then you need to decide what kind of apparatus you'll want to use for the inside to attach to your head, either a headband, or foam, or pads or something that you like but, the helmet comes all complete and is fiberglass so theres really no assembly of the helmet it's self which saves a lot of time
  22. my MLC took about a month and a week and it doesnt come fully finished, so it might not be what your looking for
  23. Okay, good because thats what I did and I was hoping not to have to re-do it, but I do see I need to straighten up the sides just a tad
  24. Yes, another one, I am about to paint my helmets snout, the actual helmet not the greblie/aerator. I did a search and I didnt really find a definitive answer, I checked, screen used prop photos, screen grabs, and fan made builds and I still am unclear on this, so here is the question..... On the helmet, the snout is a satin black, okay no problem, but, do I mask it off so there is no black on the sides of the snout, you know the flat part that extends out ward, or do I just paint a little of the area outside the arc for the greeblie? Because this area is black it's very hard to tell in photos, but I think I've seen them painted both ways, so for screen accuracy do I make it look like my trooper put the black lipstick on a little wild and went "out side the lines" or do I keep it sharp and neat with no overages?
