I attached mine with hot glue......no issues......yes those are the bolt covers, mine were too bad off to use so I bought some "original" 3Ms
-
that helmet looks really wonky to me,,,,,,,,,,,that visor looks too squared off and the paint on the snout looks really messy in the pics, is it that messy or is it just the way the pics are?
-
wider all around
-
yeah, thats looks better, how about an over all shot of it?
-
I'm no expert, but, it looks like you still have a lot of trimming to do, looks like the visor still needs trimming all around
-
for me the problem with the KS, and the reason I didnt get one, was that godawful seam around the back/crown of the helmet, IMO it's a design flaw that just looks hideous. They should have used the split halves like the originals had...

Snout Greeblie and one more question
spookymufu replied to stasz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
just a note on the DVH snout, I had to fill some small holes and a few imperfections and do some light sanding on mine before painting, just a heads up for you. -
yup, I had to do it twice before I got it to look acceptable...that bar code is a PITA
-
if i can make a suggestion, maybe try to curve the visor up a little instead of flat across
-
if it helps, heres my MLC V3 "build" http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=11862&hl=&fromsearch=1

Chief here sells a more accurate helmet kit and mines an MLC v3
-
I dont really care for the design of the SC helmet myself, I dont like the way it goes together.....I dont like that gap around the cap, I would say if you can get a kit thats designed just as the film used helmets were then thats a better way to go, I also like the FG lids but it all depends on how you use em I guess
-
if you get a fiberglass helmet you can recess the 3M bolt cover by grinding the helmet just a little with a Dremel until you get a flush fit. I wasn't willing to do that to mine, but you can if it bothers you to have it stick up a little
-
I know you didnt ask me, but here is mine and I didnt alter the helmet at all
-
weirdo!
-
I dont know if it meets Lancer requirements, but just as a show piece I just cut the tops off the 3M bolts and hot glued them to the screws that were sent with my MLC and it works and looks good........but like I said, not sure if it meets Lancer requirements
-
those "seams" where the flip visor and the helmet come together (remember these helmets are made to flip up) are not symmetrical, there is one side with a smoother angle then the other, so dont try and trim them both smooth or you'll "ruin" the look. Look at screen grabs and study them very carefully so you get a feeling of where the "wonkyness" is supposed to be, just like your TK lid, it has specific imperfections that make it "right" and yes, you have been spoiled by that RS Propmasters helmet, as far as I know there are no scout lids that come as close to the original as that RSPM lid does to that TK lid..... Good luck!

here is my MLCv3 build thread, might be of some use to you http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=11862&hl=&fromsearch=1

jcarlson101's SC scout WIP
spookymufu replied to jcarlson101's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I clicked on the pics and they took up the whole screen, you can see every detail....... -
sorry, by curved visor I meant the part that goes over the "goggles" on the actual helmet faceplate, it's too flat for my taste and would have preferred a bit more of a curve
-
I love my MLC, my only real complaint it the flat visor, I would prefer it to have a more accurate curved visor.
