Build Your Own Vest... w/Pictures!
chimei replied to scout.trooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
If the T-shirt material approvable? Do we know that stretch cotton was what they used? If it is approvable, I'm doing this. I've been messing around with standard cottons...the only fabric i've seen used on the flak vest. -
well....my copy arrived today and WOW! it's great. if you like Boba, stormtroopers (all versions), Vader, and Leia, you'll be over the moon. there's also a great section on the development of the scouts....more than i had expected...including a hilarious pic of a TK on a speeder bike. that being said, there are some errors - similar to those on the blu-ray set. the holster is on the left boot; and they put that silly TK ribbed collar on. but this time around they have replaced the TK spandex with the actual undersuit and flak vest. however, there is one great detail that has me ready to make the change. i had heard that the codpiece was NOT attached to the bund, but rather it was attached to the flak vest...and that is clear in the pic included in this new book. the belt has slipped below the bund and it is clear that the codpiece is a separate piece and slides under the bund. as i need to make a new bund, and finish my flak vest, this was a real treat... anyone else get the book? any thoughts about how this might change the CRL? looking forward to the discussion.

Kelly is right...but the only "edging" that would be visible would be in the back where it closes. armor and belt would cover the top and bottom

Pandatrooper's SC Biker Scout build
chimei replied to Pandatrooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Brilliant! Love the method for attaching the rank strips and "bar code" on the helmet -
is anyone still approving a six piece belt? it's not even close! has atin created a new belt? SC three-piece can easily be made to look like one...but those small pieces are just...well, they just aren't

How wide is the shoulder connection?
chimei replied to batninja's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Curious. I'll have to swap mine out for the fabric. It does look thinner. As for the larger guys, wouldn't a shim work to close up the "extra space" between the chest and back? Then the more narrow strap would fit fine -
mlbukowski's sc armor build

slow and steady....that's the route. you'll be fine -
didn't see this comment (unless I just missed it) but the knees need the second strip of elastic riveted in. not in the "basic" CRL listed on this site, but they just don't look right without it. takes about 3 min to add them, and the new SC knees have the return edge...so it's a piece of cake

it might be that your vinyl is just too thin. finding that "just right" vinyl is tough...

A Biker Scout, thanks to BFF's
chimei replied to gmrhodes13's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
wow...nice build. the only two things I can comment on are: 1) the thermal detonator clips are visible....this has been mentioned on a couple of the Lancer submission pics as something that needed to be changed, and 2) the pouches are a bit large for your build. I had the same issue. I went back and took 1/2 inch off each of the seems and presto - they look just right for my size. just a couple thoughts. hope they help....way too go! -
The day has finally arrived! First images of full assembly!

70s? that's nothing. DragonCon this year was nightmarish...I've never been so hot as I was in that parade. must have been near 100! the only rule with white pouches is that the thigh box strapping has to match. also, can't tell from the pics, but the vest should close the same way as the bund, right over left. -

looks good...do you have riding patches, butt flap, and thigh straps? can't tell from pics. that's a set of SC gear, but what's the helmet? SC as well? -
looking at the most recent pics, i'd add that shortening the butt flap may help as well...making you look taller. also, no matter how straight you are standing you will always look as if you're slouching...it's a result of the bucket snout going forward....the hump on the back going backward....and the chest pouches going forward...creating an unnatural "S" shape to your spine.

are we sure that's SA?

i know folks in years past got away with these, but they wouldn't fly in the ECG, and we wouldn't permit anyone to troop in them, modded or not. before doing all that work, check with your GML. i'd be shocked if they cleared it. besides, after all the work you'd need to do to them, you'd have put in more work than making a back up pair of screen accurate vinyl boots. just my two cents
-
great. good luck...i know the wait can be a pain...but you've put the work in and should feel good about it.
-
not bad. i have two bits of feedback: 1) raise the thigh boxes in the back a bit so they lay more evenly. 2) the bund closer should be the other way - with back right side overlapping the back left (same as the closure on the right boot) lastly, without sith armour making gloves, everyone is desparate to find a suitable replacement. looks like yours are close, but are missing the V on the top of the wrist. i'm not sure if these are clearable. i'd check with your GML and see what she/he says. hope these help

a lot done for an armor party. good job. i agree with 4505Marcel. the thigh box straps in front should be lowered and then shortened in the back...to bring it into balance. your mud flap looks a bit long. i can't tell from the picture, but do you have the riding patches and elastic on the thighs? future (minor) touches: round off the corners of the shoulder bells. i've heard some folks use a coin to get the right curve.

is there a pricepoint yet?
-
where would one even find a two piece suit? what is a textile suit?
-
definately cut the holes. a dremel is best (and fastest) but the area is small enough to use an exacto knife...and a little sand paper to round off the edges. maybe 15 min of work.
-
i can't tell, but is the bund closer going the wrong way? it should close right over left...like the flack vest

SA gloves? is he making them again?
