  1. The sticky vecro doesn't peel off? Did you add some E6000 for extra strength?
  2. waiting for my armor to arrive. so you ended up using apoxy where? 1) to secure the top of the tank to the back of the armor? 2) to secure the tank topper? 3) both?
  3. ok. i see it often and just can't get my mind aroudn the idea. how are people putting snaps on ABS armor? a small strip of webbing, snap put on, then use E6000 to attach it? can someone please explain the process and comment on how well it works? thanks
  4. wow. ok. i'll rethink the Tstrap. i like the idea of it being just forward of the gap. i thought i read that the shoulder bridge should be the same santural color as the webbing used on the side, box straps and pouches. was this incorrect or just a figment of my imagination?
  5. i plan on using velcro to secure the position of the shoulder bell...so i'm not using the T-strap that i see in some posts. so that leaves me with the need for a solution to covering the gap between the shoulder of the front and back armor. easy solutions?
  6. how will you be attaching a popper (snap?) to the ABS pieces? you'll be using sticky velcro? how do you keep it attached? won't it peel off the ABS when you remove the armor?
  7. what is the width of the elastic? 2 inches?
  8. hi... looks nice...love the pic of the raised arm...thanks for that detail. can you let us all know what fabric she used? it would be helpful for those of us looking
  9. i think i'll be using this pattern as well. i may use a heavy black cotton as polyester traps heat. taking an old dress shirt (from thrift shop) that fits over my undersuit, placing this drawing over it, and then cutting the shirt will make the pattern fit me just right. i'm wondering about the stitching on the sleeve. what is the distance? is it 2 inches? i love the idea of making the vest and cumberbund a one-piece item.
  10. The attachment for the off-white straps for the thigh boxes to the back of the belt is sewn or riveted? As it doesn't show, is either one more "screen accurate" than the other?
  11. i just got my 3M Speedglas 9000 mounting gear from a welding supply website. the store is located in illinois, but you can buy online by searching for item #04-0660-00. they were $3.56 each. i'm not sure if i can post the name/website here. PM me and i'll pass it on. if anyone is sure it's ok to post it, i'll post the link here. hope it helps
  12. i can sew, and dont' have any issue letting out the inseem to get the middle in their. i'm wondering about screen accurate lancer status appearance...do any lancers have a nice closeup of the stitching on the outside (visible) seem for the riding patches? is it topstitched with visible stitches (line a hemline, or is the undersuit cut, and a regular seem made? all pics and input would be welcomed. thanks
  13. how does it feel? thick? warm? would be interested in knowing.
  14. I'm curious to know about the durability of the MLC. this is fiberglass, yes? if it is dropped, will it break easily like resin?
  15. you can see my pics on another post, but i found that making the "scoop" cut with the chisel blade first, followed by the "length" cuts gave me a sharper squared line. i started on the inside part of the heal - so any initial trial & error would be less obvious. the Ryker boots are super easy to cut...at least in my opinion
  16. Thank you. I'm hoping to get to Lancer status...so I am looking for all the feedback I can get. Appreciate the supportive comment
  17. Been to a couple places in NYC looking for white vinyl. What I've seen is pretty thin and doesn't seem to be "strong" enough. Does anyone know the "weight" of vinyl (9oz, etc) that i should be looking for? When I say "marine vinyl" they look at me funny. If you know of a store that sells the best option, I'd love to hear it.
  18. Two questions about the rivets: 1) what brand rivet should I be looking for? Or will a generic silver jeans rivet be fine? 2) how do I "set" a rivet so far down in the boot? The rivet tools I've seen are too short to reach the base of the boot or even the sides for attaching the holster to the boot
  19. greetings... so i've made my first attempt at modifying the soles of boots. i tried to use the techniques i've read about here. i've never done any work with rubber, so i'm very open to feedback and suggestions. i'm getting a marker to tint the thread stitching, hiding it a bit in case the white vinyl doesn't do the trick. please let me know what you think sorry the pics are big
  20. hi... will be building my cumberbund this week and am wondering about attaching the codpiece. what stitch is used? is the codpiece "sandwiched" between the layers of the bund leaving no visible stitch, or is it placed behind the bund with a visible topstitch? anyone have screencaps? or pics of lancer acceptable soft armor? many thanks
  21. i'm a newbie and will be ordering my armor soon. i'm intersted in weathering the pieces so i don't look like i'm in a parade...but have some concerns: 1) how much is too much? 2) if i "screw up", will it all wash off for a second attempt? 3) does the vinyl of the boots take the weathering as well? any comments would be appreciated.
  22. hi... every time i go to the MC site, it says nothing is for sale. any idea how to actually purchase their stuff? cost? thanks
