Chest/Back mounting question....
Ducman82 replied to Ducman82's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
forgot about the vest. now im thinking about 3/8, maybe a 1/4 each side. should leave plenty of room. how thick is yours? -
as pictured, i just need to remove about 1/2 inch on both sides...... what do you pros think? Having a big chest sucks...... Jake
-
hey, if i dont have to buy paint im all for it.
-
ya, i think i will just paint.... less chance of messing them up

the fun part will be the chest and back armor...... i have a big chest.... so it will be interesting. whats the best way to attach the armor? with the clips on the inside like MC does? hummmm. i know i need to trim the top "prongs" where the duck cloth goes, but im not sure how much. ill post some pictures in few. and the sucky part is, i have white rivets....... gurrr...

Here is an update. I made a nice bracket to hold longer stainless screw for mounting the pack on the armor (screws MC supplied were WAY to small, and wing nuts would have poked me in the back) Here is the bracket mounted to the pack. i had to use a rubber grommet and double nut on the bottom screw. if i made it to tight at the strange angle in compressed the armor and made a gap along the side of the tank. here is a side shot of the tank after mounting. Top shot And i also sewed up my belt. turned out nice, though it does make my butt look fat when on.... and finally a close up shot next i have to attach the armor halves, and get the elastic on the rest of the armor.

Thanks Dart, i had fun building the TD. I mounted my holster to my boot tonight, i used an ABS plastic sheet i had and cut out a reinforcement square for inside the boot. it works great! all i have left to due is add a velcro square to the center of the square and then sew on the hook part on the suit when i get it.

ya , i just figured that out........ should sleep more....

SO when attaching the cotton cloth to the Nylon belt, is there a set distance between the main belt buckle and the "rivet" that mounts the webbing?
-
finally got the holes done, and my TD assembled. i wond have my soft armor till about April (lady is makin it), so what should i wear under the armor when i measure the plastic straps for cutting? and i want them to be just a tad high right? about 3/8 off the shoulder?

i just got larges, just a little room at finger tips... not sure is mediums would work better. but the quality is great!
-
so im in the process of drilling out the holes in the MC alice clips... wow.... that is super steel. they should make battle ships out of it. i have broke 2 bits so far, and a punch.... gurrr...
