  1. no different to a normal bund to be honest.
  2. It's funny you should say that, because we've had this debate. I think the whole bund is made out of a different material to cotton. Maybe a polyester or nylon. The reasons I say this are twofold. If you look, they have that sheen which you rightly point out, but also the weathering... It sits on the fabric, rather than bleeding in as you get on a cotton style material. And the difference in material would certainly account for the apparent difference in colour between the bund and pouches. They're both white, but the textural difference throws the light. Here's a quick one I knocked up a while back to test the theory.
  3. We have known about it for a while, but there is little in terms of definitive evidence to suggest one way or the other. In that picture it does appear as though the crotch part is indeed separate, with a clear gap between the crotch bit and the bund, and then in the next one, there's not. So the actual attachment system is unclear. What is fair to say is that when you are wearing your costume, the standard calls for no visible gap between these items, and the bund not to poke out beyond the limits of the belt. In terms of construction and wearability, it does make more sense to have the bund and crotch section as a one piece unit though.

    Hello!

It's taken you a while... But everyone comes to their senses eventually. Welcome aboard.
  5. Hi Ericia. Have you got a link to that sales thread please?
  6. Should be on top of the dial.... the raised bit right down the centre.
  7. somewhere in between wetsuit and circus tent... Just imagine a comfy pair of slacks.
  8. Those particular gloves are about as good as it gets short of an original set of Esprit's. For the price they are a bargain and I wouldn't bother with the hassle of trying to mod a different pair.
  9. It's another Star Fortress one... Avoid it like a dose of the clap.
  10. Apparently, according to my Sewing Machine engineer. When using suede or leather you do need to use a 'leather' needle because the shape of the tip is different. Because leather (skin basically) doesn't have warp and weft threads for the thread to grab round the shape of a standard needle can sometimes cause the bobbin thread to get stuck and miss stitch. I have loads of trouble with this on my machine and a leather needle sorted it right out. So if you use a standard needle and you keep getting missed or dropped stitches, then try a new leather needle first.
  11. That's a Star Fortress helmet, and is all kinds of wrong.
  12. What we're saying is that ON SCREEN, the greeblie appeared in BOTH orientations. Notch up and Notch down, depending on which suit was being filmed. It would appear the consistency monitor had gone to lunch that day in the costume department. BSN had to chose one to advise, and that is Notch up. As for the Blu-Ray. Yes. The thinking is that who ever put all the bits on the mannequin put the TD on upside down, and that particular set of armour (Mr 4 Stripes) has his TD Greeblie notch down.
  13. I don't believe the above is a flip Scott. I think it was determined that the Det was actually placed upside down on the walk-around. You can see this by the right over left bund closure. The way to be sure would be to look and see which side of the tank the stripes are on. I don't have my blu-rays to be able to check at the moment.
  14. 1 will be plenty... If you manage to screw up even with 1 yard, something has gone very wrong. And that still leaves some for repairs.
  15. I would say they need to be a little higher to be perfect. Mine too are also a little low, but they were made over 5 years ago and refuse to fall apart sufficiently for me to re-make them.
  16. not essential, but certainly beneficial. Especially on the bottom most edge if your knee plates have any form of 'return' that comes back in. This can be a bit of a killer and rub like a swine. I've got a bit of padding that just keeps this off my knee in mine. It's one of those little 'trooping mods' that you'll do the more you wear your gear.
  17. Righty 1: your pouches are on the wrong sides (straight edge innermost). I'd say they are a little small as well too (but that may be just me.) 2: The indented part of your thermal det should be pained white and the raised areas black 3: The top stripe on your tank should be full, and hot half. Personally they are all a bit thick and should be the same width as the rest of the pin striping (which is about 3mm). 4: Careful the top of your bund doesn't poke out below your chest plate (looks like you've added in an extra white bit of cloth to combat this). 5: I'd paint the two stripes on the back of your lid. There are two that are short. I know it comes like this on the Rubies, but they should all be the same length. 6: bring the biceps up a touch, stop them flaring out over the forearms. 7: Add some weathering to your bund/pouches and boots to match your suit. Personally I think the weathering is a bit heavy, but that's just me. Sounds like a lot... it isn't. I'm just being picky. The other bits you know about as you've said. Nearly there bud.

    Biker Scout WIP

You may want to change the permissions on that album. I think that only 'friends' on FaceBook can view it. I can't view them currently. Either that, or whack them into drop box and host them direct to here.
  19. remind me not to look at stuff before Coffee O'Clock in the morning. Cuts. It's just an Exact-o Knife and plenty of patience. As for an ongoing build thread. You can stick your total work in progress in one thread in here... http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showforum=96
  20. Nothing wrong with them, very neat job. I'd consider doing the boot sole modifications for a sense of completeness.
  21. whoops... yes, Millimetres (mm). not Centimetres (cm)
