I agree with you Daniel. The main reason I wanted to try this blaster out was that DVH integrated the rare earth into the mold. I didn't want to hack up my Hyperfirm to insert a magnet so I sold it and went with this model. As I mentioned I like the weight and DVH provides the magnet that mounts in the holster to give it even more grab. As I said I did really like my HFx but this piece just "feels" better in the hand.

That's a bummer brother. I guess we all need to use a little "caveat emptor" before pulling the trigger which is sad as you would think if they're on the legion boards they have higher standards.

I really liked my HFx and it was a nice piece but I do like the weight of this blaster. It just feels good in your hand.

The scout pistol, also known as a scout trooper blaster, was a standard-issue blaster pistol for Imperial scout troopers manufactured by BlasTech Industries. A compact, one-handed weapon, it was most commonly stored in a scout trooper's boot, and featured a pressure sensitive grip on the weapon's left side instead of a trigger to account for the trooper's gloves. It also featured a built-in targeting scope to assist its user's aim and a short-range laser emitter. Being designed for short-range combat, it lost its accuracy at greater distances. It was also used by soldiers of the Rebel Alliance, but was most commonly seen in the hands of the scout troopers of the Galactic Empire. [Data from Wookiepedia] This review is for the V2 hold out pistol from the Endor Armory by DVH. This is the new version with an updated mold and the addition of an internal rare earth magnet underneath the muzzle to create a magnetic bond in the boot holster. The blaster was received via USPS Priority and well packaged with bubble wrap to protect the contents. Opening the parcel revealed the blaster in another poly-bag with the DVH Endor Armory label. The label explained that this item was hand made and because of that may contain some tiny bubbles and/or flashing that the owner might wish to remove. The seller then explains that these can be fixed, if the owner desires, with a sharp hobby knife for the flashing and a filler (Bondo) for any minor pitting caused by bubbles. Additionally advice is provided for painting should the owner wish to do so as well as warnings to keep the magnetic surface away from electronic devices. The label is a nice touch and helpful to owners that wish to pursue an additional level of realism. I think that the pistol looks great out of the packaging and I like the minor inconsistencies as it makes it one of a kind. The paint is well done and is not too glossy. I have SC armor and it fits snugly into my boot holster and IMO better than the Hyperfirm. I feel that this blaster has a bit of a narrower profile than the HFx and to me looks closer to the movie version. The mold lines are very clean and crisp especially in the detail areas around the firing stud and the scope adjustment knobs. I very much like how clean the scope eyepiece came out. There is almost no flash or other irregularities in scope opening. This is a very nice result and will help Pathfinders who wish to insert a scope lens have a much easier time of it. There were only two areas of flashing noted and those were on the collimation discs on the top of the pistol and around the vertical area of the grip. Onto the pictures: The blaster is about 19.5 cm in length and 367g in weight. The offset in the pictures is due to camera parallax and I apologize for that. I personally like the heavier weight as I think it adds to the realism a bit more and it's not heavy enough that a trooper couldn't hold it all day long. Overall: I would highly recommend this blaster to any scout looking for armament to put in their boot holster. It's accurately molded and comes ready to troop out of the packaging. The addition of the rare earth magnet make having to modify non-existent and shows how DVH continues to tweak the design to make it better for trooping so he's listening to the voice of his customers. I currently have two DVH snouts one on my Altmann's and another on my KS so this makes my third DVH item and I have yet to find any fault with his work. I wouldn't use any mesh and you really don't need any. Besides it's better for air circulation not to have anything in the ear holes. Paint the inside of the bucket black and you'll be good no one will be able to see inside your lid.

yeah they must keep their carpets really clean you can see the vacuum tracks......

Great job Jeff! The only thing I could think of is that your boxes look a little too low and you might want to raise them up towards your belt a bit. I like the off white pouches and strapping BTW it looks really sharp! Looks like Griffin got there before me:)

For sure! It's been at 105 here and a bit hotter in Phoenix. I'll wear my white armor when outdoors and move to my shadow for indoor troops during the hotter months. I couldn't imagine wearing the shadow outside on the toasty days unless you wanted to fry bacon on your armor to impress the onlookers:) I also use one of those cool wraps around my neck and that helps.

Dude that's awesome! I wish our Garrison would have a sewing workshop! What a great idea. I think the cloth for the bund is duck cloth but I'll let a more sewing experienced Pathfinder weigh in on that one.

I used a HH liner as well and used CA glue to mount the tabs in my Altmann's. Haven't had any issues with it as of yet. Maybe give that a try?

Hi Jared! May I ask what maker you purchased your armor from? The pieces look to me to be a bit over sized on you. Here's a side pic of me in my armor made by SC: I'm about 5'8" tall and my armor overlaps a bit but wearing the soft armor (flight suit, cummerbund, vest, gloves) bulks you out some. My arm armor overlaps (around my arm) a bit but it's not excessive. I did a little trimming on the shoulder armor but nothing to the bicep or forearm armor. The same is true for the knees. It looks like they go too far up towards the thigh. The armor will definitely need to have the edges trimmed of the flash and sanded down to give it a clean look. You can do this with a pair of lexan scissors and some 220 grit sandpaper. Not sure what the thin plastic on top of the armor might be. Could be a protective covering of some sort that just needs to be peeled off but I'd rather one of the detachment Armourer's answer that question.
