  1. While not the most desirable B-grade can be approvable if you’re willing to put the time in to bring it to Lancer standards. I can see the conflict within you young Sky.... sorry where was I? I can see that crossroad before you Cat and it’s something you want to give some serious thought to. You’re talking about a whole new flight suit and a different bund assembly altogether. If it’s something that you are thinking of post some pics of your armor that @Chopper and I can take a look at. Chopper is an ROTJ armor expert and he can give you the straight skinny on whether the armor is Lancer approvable. You can take it from there and decide which route you’d like to go. Either way we’re here to help you so we’ll support you whichever route you choose.
  2. Yeah the Mando Scout doesn’t use the zip tie method that’s an ROTJ application. TKZombie did a nice treatment of this in her build showing the type of snaps she used with a length of nylon webbing. You’ll find it about halfway down on page 2.
  3. TD looks great and thank you for cleaning that excessive adhesive up around the shoulder bridges. Those look good too! Looking forward to seeing you get the bund and pouches back. If you have any questions about them or what's required there don't hesitate to reach out to me or @Chopper and we'll be happy to help. Remember what Chopper says "for the bund, cod, and pouches, Level 1 of the CRL only calls for "white fabric" for the bund and cod. However, Level 2 calls for smooth white cotton fabric. Polished cotton or mercerized cotton is preferred, but at a minimum, smooth white cotton fabric. Your pouches should be made of white canvas-type material (e.g., duck cloth)."
  4. Happy holidays JIll! Nice work on the decals and visor. Those are looking much better!
  5. Hi Ethan and Happy Holidays! I think @BikerScout007 has addressed your question in another thread. I would also recommend reaching out to Scouts in the Canadian Garrison to see what they are using. We're always here if you should need so don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have further questions.
  6. @ferra @Jakeputt Can you help guide this Kashyyyk on the cummerbund build? Thanks!
  7. Good luck with your submission Ty! As a note your tank is riding really low so you may need to trim a little of the bridge straps to raise it up and it'll help align the back and chest armor as in the CRL photo. You've done great work and looking forward to hearing good news!
  8. HI Saray! The Patrol Trooper HQ has some good examples. Here's an interior done by @Patrol85 @Hask @MrPoopie do you have some suggestions on how to help make the bucket fit more comfortably?
  9. We’re here if you need us so don’t hesitate to shout out if you need anything.
  10. Cat now that I’ve slept on it I’m wondering if the tabs are fine but instead of sewing them vertically to the bund, a la ROTJ Scout, you fold them over. Without the tab I’m concerned that the pouches won’t sit right on the bund if sewn directly to it. @Zeronin how are your pouches sewn onto your bund? Can you provide a picture for Cat? Zeronin was the CRL model for this costume. Here’s his build thread:
  11. Spot on Jill. Let that cure completely then reassemble it. Nice work!
  12. Hi Cat and what a great set of questions! Ok so one thing to keep in mind is that although some of build techniques are based on the ROTJ not all of them are applicable to the Mando scout. For example take a look at the pics of the model and the cummerbund. You’ll notice that there are no tabs used on the pouches which allows for you to place them higher on the bund. The ROTJ uses a 2” measurement for the tab so it’s going to look off on the mando. You nailed the pouch size so keep that but drop the tabs. Regarding the bund height the 8” measurement is based on the distance between the belt and the bottom of the chest armor. While this may work for some body types it doesn’t work for all of them. I would recommend taking that measurement again and seeing what it is for you. That’s the measurement you’ll want to use for your bund height.
  13. That’s the bridge strap. It’s a 1” piece of cotton that wraps around the shoulder bridges to cover the connections between the chest and back armor. The shoulder bells are held with zip ties to underneath the bridge strap. Check out the armor in this video by our Detachment Leader showing all the armor pieces. The rivet is just about in the middle of the tank bottom. Dennis gave you a great reference photo of the MoTM exhibit. When you get to that part of your build you can pencil in a mark and have us take a look at it if that will be helpful to you.
  14. Hi Jill. I think that color will work fine and since it has a primer as part of it I'm not sure you'll need an additional primer there so you can save some $$. @Chopper do you agree?
  15. Boots are looking great Jill. You can cross that off the list. Oh no! I thought you were using the Gunship Grey? I think the battleship grey is a bit too dark. When you repaint it you may need to reprime it with a lighter color then shoot it with the Gunship to lighten it a bit. You’re making great progress and just about there!
  16. Dennis is right on regarding using heat on armor. It only take a second in the wrong place and the piece is ruined. The SC you got lends itself well to trimming and fitting to most body sizes. I wear it myself and have been very happy with it. The most important area for trimming will be in your shoulder bridges as that controls the width fitment and the alignment of the chest/back armor. The best way to start there is not to cut anything and use masking or painters tape around the bridges to size it to your torso. A couple of things to keep in mind are that you’ll have a flight suit and vest underneath that armor so I wouldn’t recommend fitting it in a t-shirt as it might come out too narrow. For the boots I used a combo of the Desert Sun and a hairdryer to get a good stretch and that worked just fine. I agree with my colleagues and don’t think you need to purchase a heat gun to get good results. Keep up the great work and keep asking those great questions!
  17. Joe thank you for your application. You’ve been added to the queue and we’ll get back to you as soon as we are able. Stand by Pathfinder!
  18. Hi Jill. Nice work on the trimming that's looking great. The trap on the horizontal tank stripe is looking good as well.
  19. Yeah Spec Ops allows a two piece if that is something you want to do. Most of the scouts will have to do some tailoring of their flight suits to fit their body type. The Shadow follows the ROTJ scout but there are some differences there so I’d recommend taking a look at that CRL as well. Kudos to you for starting your research early and we’re here to help so keep posting up those questions. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_scout
  20. The chest armor and your boxes are looking much better. Great work on those! One additional item we noticed is the helmet decal above your visor. That particular decal should be rounded and not squared off at the ends. Those will need to be replaced with a set that's more screen accurate. Note the CRL photo here: You're doing awesome and almost at the finish just a few items to finish so keep up the fantastic work!
  21. Hi Jack! Sounds like you're off to a good start. Make sure you pull the CRL from the 501st site so you have a good checklist to work from. So there are several methods that you can use for the cod piece. Most ROTJ scouts attach it to the vest per the movie versions. In ROTJ the bund and cod were two separate pieces and having attached to the vest give a freedom of movement as it's not fixed to the bund. Other methods require the use of hook/loop velcro. You sew a strip at the bottom of the bund and another at the top of the cod. I would recommend taking a look at several build threads and see what some of the approved scouts have done. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Scout-Trooper-The-Mandalorian
  22. Congrats Pathfinder! Remember to update your profile and post in the access thread for Pathfinder access.
  23. Hi Cat. The difference between the suits is that the Mandalorian Scout uses a TIE Pilot Flight suit rather than the ROTJ Scout suit. That’s why the one piece reference in the CRL. If you do have a need to use a two piece I would highly recommend that you reach out to your GML to get a read on if they will allow it or not.
